Looked like a newly renovated room. Everything in top notch condition. Quiet. Breakfast was superb and way more than I could eat. Very good quality food prepared fresh to order and perfectly cooked. Hosts were very attentive. We left our bags after checkout and picked them up later at the end of the day as we were traveling without a vehicle.

Nothing really. Yorkshire tea and fresh milk with cookies in the room daily. Towels replaced daily even though we didn't need it. We brought some wine with us and they left wine glasses in our room the following day for us to enjoy even though we were happy with regular glasses.

Excellent stay, room and facilities was of very high standard, everyone was very helpful and knew my name from the word go which was very nice. Location is ideal, within walking distance of town centre, local pubs and restaurants. Breakfast was very nice and extremely well done, just the right size, and everyone was very attentive to my needs. First time visiting the area and honestly I'm included to visit again solely because of the lodge being available

We had an amazing stay at this lovely small hotel. With only a few rooms, it offers a truly charming and intimate atmosphere. We booked two rooms as we were four friends spending a few days in the area, and from the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. The breakfast was a delicious traditional English meal, and both rooms were spotlessly clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable, making our stay even more relaxing. The location was perfect, very close to the cathedral, which made exploring the area super convenient. If we visit again, we will definitely stay here! Highly recommended.

We were planning to arrive pretty late and Una kept in touch with us to provide check-in information. She greeted us as soon as we arrived and led us straight up to our room. Malcolm very kindly brought my suitcase up the stairs for me (the only time this has happened since our cross-country trip began!). The room was full of character, with beautiful antique furnishings and deep-set windows. The location was very convenient for exploring the town and walking to dinner. No problem parking our car on the street outside The Lodge. We were able to turn down the heat in the room, which made it quite comfortable overnight. The full English breakfast was delicious and Malcolm and Una were a delight to chat with.

There were only bedside outlets on one side of the bed, so one of us had to charge our devices on the dresser across from the bed. It was the week of Halloween and also early celebrations for Guy Fawkes, so there was quite a bit of street noise. That prevented us from being able to sleep with the windows cracked open as we would have liked. Neither of these were major issues.

Una and Malcolm are friendly and welcoming. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. It had tea and coffee making facilities, with biscuits. Toiletries were provided. Shower gels, shampoos and hand wash. Lovely large fluffy towels. Large tv and comfortable sofa. We had a tasty full English breakfast with tea and juice. Cereals, yoghurt, toast and jam were available too. We enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it. We would definitely book again. Thank you Una and Malcolm for being the perfect hosts.

Lovely spacious room, excellent breakfast. Accommodation is convenient for easy walking to The Walks and Town Centre.

Have stayed before, so knew it would suit my needs. The owners are obviously good at remembering faces/names which helped to feel at home. It's a comfortable place in a good area. The cooked breakfast was just right. No problem parking on the road just outside. And there is an hotel across the road which has a bar and does evening meals.

The windows in the room I had this time (can't recall exactly why) were in a bit of an odd position and meant the curtains needed to be kept closed.

Una was absolutely lovely, really enjoyed chatting with her. Breakfast was plentiful and really delicious, our room was warm, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Extremely quiet with no noise overnight so we slept very well. Free fast wifi worked perfectly. Would definitely book again.

Shower water pressure was a little low. Drinking water in the room would have been handy but we’d brought some just in case. Everything else was superb.

The room was lovely and exceptionally clean. Very spacious with ample room facilities. Bed was very comfortable. My partner and I had a lovely night's sleep. The owners were lovely and very helpful. On hand whether needed. Breakfast was also very good. Good quality foods, plenty of options and foods were cooked perfectly. The location was perfect for us being very close to the venue we were attending. One of the best B&B's I've stayed at and would highly recommend The Lodge. 10 out 10.

No negatives to note.

I had a really great stay with Malcolm and Una, the most comfortable and spacious room and a cracking breakfast to match! Will definitely be staying again when I’m back across this way of the country. Highly recommended!
