Stepping into Chalk and Cheese is like arriving at an oasis. Bridget and Andrew are wonderful hosts (and Harry, the cat does a good Front of House). The building is a former schoolhouse but is now a home, combined with an amazing array of vintage and antique collectibles. My room, up the stairs, was uncluttered but charming with a very comfortable bed and excellent pillows. Huge bathroom with a shower and a free standing bath (on wonderful clawed feet). Lovely choice of tea and coffee bags as well as wonky-fruit-flavoured and plain waters. Very good breakfast (excellent selection) served in the airy conservatory.
I didn't mind sharing the breakfast table with other guests who wanted to chat, but I appreciate that that isn't how everyone wants to start their day. Stairs to the bedroom are steep when carrying luggage (again, not a problem for me, but could be for some). I love cats, but Harry might be too friendly for other guests. The curtains and blinds are not black-out, be prepared to wake with the sun.

The room especially the roll top bath tub! The full English and the family atmosphere in general at the b& b. The hotel and grounds were lovely. The couple that ran it couldn't have been kinder and more helpful. They even gave me a lift out of the village without asking for payment.
Noisy neighbours throwing a birthday party until 3.30am then.lots of shouting outside some abusive language used. The location was awful with no public transport on Sundays or bank holidays. Only one pub to eat within walking distance. The hotel was like a living museum full of curios so a bit cluttered in lounge areas. The reception area smelt of dog!

Warm welcoming hosts. Such lovely people. We had a lovely break away and felt well rested upon leaving B&B full of antiquities, may not be to everyone's liking, but we loved it. Sits within a picture perfect village, of which there is a pub providing great meals. Couldn't fault anything. Our room was exceptionally cosy, quiet and clean. Refreshments of which there were many was replenished daily, didn't need to ask for anything. Breakfast was most enjoyable and varied. Family pets too were a joy. We most definitely will return.
Nothing.

An extremely quirky, very eccentric former school house, full of the owners eclectic finds, so much to look at and every space is full of things collected, it even has a gift shop/antique shop on the driveway where you can buy many trinkets and unusual items. Fabulous breakfast choice all freshly cooked as you sat down including a beautiful platter of fresh fruit on the table. Not for the faint hearted or minimalist traveller as there isn't a space to be found without something in it xx😊

We liked the quirkiness of the Workshop (the room we stayed in) and it being separate from the main building. There was a small fridge, we were given milk for our tea and there were lovely biscuits in the room. We loved the breakfast, which was made to order and delicious, with fruit, high standard fruit juices, huge selection of cereals and toast and many different spreads. The hosts were welcoming and treated us really well, including offering to plate up our fish & chips which we bought from a van in the village.
It was all lovely. We would struggle to find fault with anything.

The B&B is in a nice small village with a pub which does food most nights The hosts were friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and quiet with a nicely appointed bathroom & shower. Breakfast was nice. We had the cooked breakfast but cereal and other options were available. A nice little touch... fresh milk was provided for if you wanted a cuppa in your room. The B&B itself is quite 'quirky' inside but that makes it all the more memorable.
Nothing really... if you were being ultra picky you could say that the parking area is quite small but street parking is available nearby if needed.

It was a really unusual b and b, , interesting and unusual and very quirky. It was great fun staying there! Andrew the host was friendly and helpful and cooked a delicious breakfast! A fascinating house and really great stay all around!
Breakfast coffee could have been a little hotter - maybe we should have asked for hot milk, but it seems churlish to say this as everything else was perfect! Best to be honest though!

Brilliant, cooked specially whilst you enjoy fresh fruit and yoghurt and some excellent juice. Possibly the most relaxing breakfast I've enjoyed, the conservatory is bright and airy with radio 4 playing in the background. The overall experience is akin to staying in an antique shop (the owners other business), with each room individually and uniquely themed and furnished, one even with a four poster bed!

The building, although being repurposed, has maintained its original character. It is a unique experience, and being attached to an antique business, there was something to look at and admire at every turn. We enjoy staying in unusual and quirky accommodation, and this certainly fits the bill.

We loved the ambience and the thrill of walking through an antique lovers paradise. The house is stunning, the food is delicious and the hosts were interesting, kind and helpful. We ate at the village community pub and the food was superb. We slept well and even bought a few items to take away and brighten up our home. Thank you for a perfect stay 😘
