Loved the location and onsite parking. Lovely towels (nice and white and fluffy) and 2 mini soaps so we could leave one in the shower and 1 on the sink) plus shower gel and shampoo - bonus !! The couple who own/work front of house were so lovely. Really welcoming and cooked a great full English !!
The property was quaint old coaching inn and a great location, however due to the location we were unfortunate to have boy racers screaming around the road (under our window) well into the night creating a racing circuit !! It kept us awake as the room was too warm to close the window. Also the bed wasn’t the comfiest (a lot of roll together and the mattress protector made us very warm.

The breakfast was excellent. Great value for money. Freshly cooked with excellent local produce. Good quality toast and tea and coffee. Served in a beautiful dining room by friendly welcoming owner. The building is beautiful and has been lovingly restored and maintained. It is in a fantastic location and a genuine delight to stay there. The staff we met were all extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We had an excellent night's sleep.
Perhaps the room and the en suite were a little on the small side but that didn't matter for a one night stay. The room overlooked the road which although was not busy we were still aware of traffic and pedestrians outside.

The room was very nice and the room was lovely too the staff always polite friendly and couldn't do enough to help you. I didn't book the breakfast but both mornings the kitchen staff where very happy to make me a free coffee. I was allowed to leave my bags in the morning, to check in in the afternoon. When I arrived the bags where already in my room waiting which I thought was very kind 😇
If there was 1 small gripe and it is small but for the money paid I did expect a better TV but no biggy. The stay more than made up for it

The staff are so friendly and helpful. For example, when we brought fish and chips back they set us a table even though we had brought the food in. The decor is amazing. Old wooden panelling, historical artefacts and a beautiful, proper English bar with beautiful real ales pulled by hand. The rooms are cosy with modern bathrooms. Beautiful breakfasts, full English or continental, served with a big smile. My wife and I recommend you treat yourself to a stay in this delightful old coaching inn. Thank you yo everyone at The Crown.
That we had to leave : ( We had such a lovely stay.

Lovely place loved the look and feel of place very welcoming rustic looking Reminded me and son of Harry Potter with all the staircases going different ways funny shaped doors loved it Room was great for few days visiting my dad will definitely book again
Only one thing I wasn't keen on the was the block window between the room me and my 16 year old son was in and bathroom as you can see everything though it so made it a challenging to wash and dress with one of us in room lol and the light comes in first thing morning a blind or something to give priversy when in there would be good

Had an overnight stay to attend a family event. Check-in was very easy, very friendly staff who explained everything clearly. Bed very comfortable. Nice size bathroom with decent sized shower. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked with great high quality ingredients. Bonus was being able to sit in the downstairs pub and have a drink with the hubby before heading off to bed for the night especially after a very hectic day.
Can't think of anything.

Breakfast was an extra which I did not take. The room was lovely, roomy and clean with an excellent bathroom with huge tub. Staff were superb, they remembered me from previous stays and were again very welcoming and willingly helped store my bicycle under cover. The recommended nearby restaurant - Allium - was superb and highly recommended.
The room was ground floor onto a busy street so with windows open on a warm night it was somewhat noisy first thing in the morning, although shutters mitigated this.

What a great atmosphere! Booking in was easy and we were met and served by two friendly gentlemen. When we walked up to our room in the roof, the staircase creaked with that beautiful aging sound. Solid old wood and loads of space. The room was excellent, warm, lots of room in both the bedroom and bathroom. Very clean and plenty of room, with tea and a great serving of biscuits! My brother and I took our 86 year mother and she thought it was lovely as she is very keen on things being clean and neat. The English breakfast was DELICIOUS! and the lady who served us was very polite, friendly, and chatty with a smile. Even the lady who was cleaning up the rooms was chatty and verty friendly. I have been to many hotels but this one has wonderful atmosphere and in a great location. Fully recommended as the hotel is also surrounded by lots of food places to eat.
Just the car park, it really needs to be better signed, that's all. I missed the entrance twice before I saw it,

The location was excellent with good parking. The bar was also very good. The breakfast was copious and came out freshly cooked and hot. The staff made it though, they couldn't do enough to make sure our stay went as smoothly and pleasant as possible. Tea and coffee facilities in the room were greatly appreciated.
Quirky rooms, with a slightly wonky floor which didn't take away from the fact it was agreeable. Some hooks in the bathroom would have been appreciated, there was nowhere to hang up anything.

The Crown Hotel is a quaint and quirky old Free House built in the 16th century, with renovations in the 19th century. As was to be expected, the bedroom was smallish, but clean and comfortable, with a double bed, some space to work at a desk, and a fair amount of storage space. Water pressure and heat control in the shower were both very good. The room was quiet, and free on site parking was a bonus! The location was very convenient for our visiting family in Downham Market.
The en suite was very small, with the loo right against the basin, and a small shower.
