The staff are wonderful. The hotel is family run, with multiple members involved day to day. They are supported by a willing and enthusiastic team. Breakfast was included, and came with a lot of choice from cereal to full English. I noticed a vegetarian full breakfast is offered too. We ate all of our evening meals there for convenience, the food is top quality, well prepared and generous. Biggest fish I have ever seen in their fish and chips. It is a Victorian building so the layout is quirky, but the room and bathroom offered everything that we needed. The location is perfect for a theatre visit, the little park between the hotel and the theatre is very pretty.

Not a lot to offer here, it was so good. I heard an old lady complain that there was no porridge on the breakfast menu. I bet she didn't ask to see if they could make her some. The lift has seen better days, but still makes its way up and down with a few clanks and whirrs!

Very friendly and approachable staff. Meal was good on one evening and good choice at breakfast. My dog was catered for in our room with treats, bed, blanket and ball as well as a couple of poo bags. She even got some chicken free of charge when I had an evening meal. Room large and comfortable and had a good nights sleep. No hassle parking as square hotel located in generally very quiet unless something is on at the theatre on opposite side if the square. My second stay there and would go back.

Nothing really to report. TV's volume was a little on the blink, one minute very quiet, the next loud but no big deal.

The guy on reception (I think his name was Simon) went above and beyond to look after us. We had a couple of issues and he bent over backwards to fix them for us. I was convinced he was the the owner of the hotel because the degree of care and attention he applied would only come from a proprietor. To my astonishment, I found out the following day that he is not the owner, and that he is just someone who clearly cares. The world needs more Simons! Everything else was great. The room was spacious, the breakfast was really good and all the other staff at the hotel were really helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Location was perfect for our trip to the theatre, which is literally across the road; about 100m. Voucher for 24hrs parking was included, which was a bonus. Room was lovely, and very spacious. All the staff members we encountered were very polite, professional & very friendly. We had dinner & breakfast, as weather was awful and we didn’t feel like getting drenched!; good choices, everything cooked & presented beautifully, and dinner prices were reasonable for a hotel restaurant. Breakfast was included in room rate. We loved the hotel, and definitely plan to visit again, and recommend to friends & family

From the moment we arrived we felt extremely welcome The hotel has high standards throughout and everyone looks happy to work there The bedroom was immaculate and the little touches such a pillow spray really set the scene We ate dinner and breakfast and both meals were lovely and served in good time The bar was open till late which was nice after we had come back from our show and the loveliest barmaid even introduced me to a new drink which I can see become my favourite Overall a wonderful stay which I would highly recommend to my family, friends and across my social media platforms

We were upgraded to a Junior suite and, although, it was a bigger room, the bed wasn't as big as we had expected. The bathroom was ok, but nothing special. The whole hotel, although clean, is looking a little tired...I wonder how much it has changed since the 1990s? The breakfast was fine - not much in the way of fresh fruit, but there were several choices of cooked breakfast, which was served to your table. It would have been nice to have a fish option on the menu, given that the hotel is in Hull! The coffee was not very good at all: just instant!!

Booked this hotel as it was close to the theatre we were going to. On arrival we were welcomed with a free upgrade (and sweets)! The hotel is a perfect blend of class and Victorian heritage. It's immaculately clean. The attention to detail, and the consideration for guests, sets this hotel far beyond any of its competitors. Staff are attentive, helpful, and friendly - all seem happy to be there and happy that you are there - really makes a difference. Breakfast was delicious and the service was impeccable. Full marks; highly recommend!

the hotel was charming and was unique in character. staff were friendly and helpful. the room was lovely and clean. we had everything we need from a hotel room. plugs included chargers for mobile phones

we had one of the executive rooms in a basement: it was through a separate entrance a couple of doors down. not great if you want to make use of the main hotel facilities (if there was a back way in, we weren't told about it) . the window (which opened into an internal courtyard) was a modern sash which was closed shut (I like windows to open). fortunately we have the same windows at home and managed to open it (cleaning mode). the room was very long! lots of empty space. I thought it was a shame that there were lots of little bits of plastic: milk cartons in the bedroom, shower gel and bath bits and pieces, pats of butter for breakfast. I know it's for hygiene reasons but would be nice if they could be eliminated.

Handy location with a car park right outside and complimentary parking. Staff were friendly and we even got a complimentary drink each. The cooked breakfast is lovely and the rooms are very clean and spacious.

Some aspects are a bit dated in terms of furniture but this doesn’t take away from their function and they were clean and working. There was an odd odour in the lobby but this was not in the rooms or the restaurant and you can see a lot of effort goes into the hotel cleanliness.

Friendly welcome at reception. Upgraded to executive room due to a booking error which was nice. Room spacious and all I needed. Large bathroom, comfy bed and some nice touches with things for my dog and a pack of things like ear plugs, mask and stuff to spray on your pillow for a good night's sleep. Not sure it worked. Nice meal on my first evening.

TV for some reason very erratic, wouldn't change channels, then went off for no apparent reason. No big deal. Room not too warm but did have facility to boost heating.
