Perfect location and only a short walk from train station. Private access to room. Plenty of tea and coffee offered in your room with bottles of water and a nice selection of biscuits. Bed was very comfortable and bedding spotless. Lovely white towels too. The room was nice and warm which was great after a long walk in the chilly weather. The bonus in the room was the lighting over every mirror, with a plug socket. Something us women rarely find in a lot of rooms so thank you for that. 😊 We really enjoyed our stay.

The shower head was a bit loose and the water seemed a bit slow to drain but the water held the heat perfectly so not a complaint.

Location is central to the town, 7 mins walk to long stay car park and 5 mins to station. There was free water , biscuits and a small chocolate treat provided which is a lovely touch as well as usual tea and coffee. You often don’t get water in much more expensive hotels so this was a step more than expected. Towels were large, thank goodness not the skimpily ones you can sometime get and fluffy. The shower (mira) was excellent with lots of hot water. Large bed and comfy pillows and a fan provided which looked new and worked well as it was a warm day.

This was good value for money in a pub setting where someone had put thought behind what guests enjoy and require so nothing to dislike.

The staff were exceptionally accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. In particular, there were very helpful with providing guidence regarding finding some long stay parking. The room itself was clean and the bed was really comfy. The bathroom was basic but clean. There was a great selection of tea/coffee for drinks. We were even provided with complimentary water and a selection of biscuits! It was perfect for an overnight stay. The location is central and close to all of the towns main attractions.

There is no parking outsideThe Groves only a short stay car park (which Google suggests is 'long stay'). However, there is a long stay car park only a five minute walk along the main street. Initially, there was a slight drain smell in the bathroom. But this disappeared. The building is old so it was not a massive surprise and was no reflection on the cleanliness of the room.

The room, was spacious and it was a nice surprise to have a bathroom, with a bath! Loved the refreshments area. A great amount of tea bags, milk etc. Felt very cosy and at home! Great sized wardrobe and nice side tables. Was also a lovely touch to have complimentary toiletries! staff were helpful.

It could have been a little cleaner, bath etc, found a few hairs. Carpet needed hoovering a little more, I think. This is probably me, just being a little nit picky, as have high cleaning standards.

Location of the Groves is fantastic. Right on the doorstep of the town centre. Stayed here several times, always a friendly greeting. Sadly cannot comment on the breakfast as I think they have stopped offering this. In particular the rooms at the rear of the building offer a quiet ambience for a good nights sleep.

It is a bit of a narrow passage way up to the top floor for the rooms but this should not deter you for the great location is worth it.

Thar the hotel was in the centre of town and it was 1 mins away from a restaurant that was chosen fir family gathering on Friday night.

No lift and our room on top floor, so had to carry our cases up a few flights of stairs. And, there was a fire alarm that went off early Saturday morning which was an inconvenience. No staff or management appeared to tell the guests it was a false alarm. We were left to assume it was a false alarm when it was silenced. Not even a note put under our door to apologise. I saw a member of the house team later on that morning and she had no idea that the alarm had gone off.

Nice cozy pub with friendly staff. Room was spacious and warm. Quite a bit of complimentary items left out. Large bathroom with shower. Reasonably clean. My only dislike was the stairs as I struggle climbing stairs and no lift. Disabled parking right outside which is free 24 hours. Great location close to all the pubs and restaurants. Definitely would stay again. Shame they don't do breakfast. We didn't get a evening meal so can't comment on food. Dogs are allowed in this pub.

All the staff were very friendly, the room was clean, and quite bigger than I expected , (room 1) with a generous amount of tea and coffee provided, and you could not hear any noise from the pub below. We also had food in the pub whilst we were there, the steaks were cooked to perfection, (medium rare). We would definitely stay here again.

Although it may not be practical, it would have been nice if there had been an option to have breakfast.

The rooms are very spacious with very large beds.extremly clean.the staff are lovely and friendly. The food in the bar is great value and tasty. They have a quiz on a Thursday night and singer on a Friday..we loved the place and location so much so we have rebooted for August.

The only thing I can say might be a down side to some people is the stairs are steep up to the rooms where it's an old building and there is alot of them .they don't do breakfast but there is so many places to get breakfast near by .

The Groves Inn staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. The food was of good quality and freshly cooked. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. An electric fan was also provided but because of the heatwave the room still remained quite warm overnight but I must stress that this was totally out of the hotels control as they did their very best to cool the rooms down. The location was also excellent, a lovely little market town. Well worth visiting.

Our stay was short and sweet just one night so with that in mind we could not find anything to find fault with. One thing was that the Groves Inn do not provide breakfast which was a bit of a shame as I could imagine that it would have been of the same high standard as the diner we had the night before, but don’t let that put you off as there are plenty of places close by to eat.
