Our room was a great size with plenty space for our dog's bed, blankets etc. The gardens were beautiful, the walk over to Goldsborough Hall where we had breakfast was so very pretty, felt like an enchanted garden. Our evening meal at the Bay Horse Inn was very tasty and the desserts were beautifully presented as well as delicious to eat. Breakfast was nearby at Goldsborough Hall, a short walk through the gardens and we felt like royalty in a beautiful dining room and even our dog got a tasty cooked sausage, he was very impressed! The head chef came in to meet Dexter as he loves dogs and gave him a fuss. Thank you Daniel, that was very kind of you and your breakfast was absolutely divine.

A quick overnight stay turned into the social event of our trip. We checked in during the busiest part of dinner, yet the assistant manager graciously found time to make us feel like we were his only customers. The rooms were everything we expected and better. We hadn't planned to have dinner based on our arrival time, but they were able to get us in before the kitchen closed for a top-notch meal. By the end of a quick evening meal and drink, we had somehow managed to meet about 30 people, including the local cycling club, where we ended up on their FB page as those "cyclists from Texas." Then this busy restaurant and pub cleared out quickly, the families with small children in the adjoining park had all left, and it was like we had booked a place far away from anyone. We had a peaceful night and unhurried exit the next morning. What a perfect place to stay.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and we stayed in a lovely warm cosy room nicely decorated. The food was wonderful and beautifully presented, we stayed on a room only basis so cannot comment on breakfast that is served at Goldsborough Hall next door a short walk through the garden. After dinner we walked through the woodland garden which is so pretty and full of flowering plants and a lovely way to round off our evening. There is a really nice outdoor seating area for warmer weather.

Liked everything about our stay

Nice room situated in an annex behind traditional country pub. Very secluded and quiet. Cold winter’s day but room was very warm and welcoming. Exceptional breakfast provided at nearby Goldsborough Hall. A five minute walk away either along the village street or through the lovely gardens of the Hall.

Our only minor gripe was the public bar closing early. We arrived back at 10.15 pm hoping to get a night cap (it was our wedding anniversary) but was told the bar was closed. We were not desperate for a drink but felt a little disappointed at the end of a fantastic day.

This was a beautiful inn in a very charming village . Quiet and comfortable with attentive service a great evening meal and one of the very best accommodations we've ever found on our half-dozen visits to England. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone.,

I would have liked to have had a breakfast on the premises; instead a rather expensive one was on offer at nearby Goldsborough Hall. We opted to go into nearby Knaresborough for a meal.

Based in a very small village, really quiet , hidden gem with garden and extra area with tables for families . Room was very spacious , ultra mod cons, anything you need to make your stay a good one. Hairdryer, tea, coffee, posh coffee machine, air con and a humongous tv! Best of all the bathroom was to die for , I really need a shower in my life like the one in our room!!!! Digitally or Wi-Fi not sure but it was amazing. Food spot on ! Hats off to chef .. superb , my husband got chef special , oh wow a massive steak and pork pie , he couldn’t fault it! Thanks to front of house staff for making our stay, special thanks to the very cheery Debbie, you looked after us faultlessly ! Breakfast at sister property Goldsborough hall was out of this world, never tasted a breakfast so good, with so much to offer, really spoiled for choice , luxury at its finest

Arrived and shown to room only to be advised within minutes that they had given us wrong unmade up room but then shown to extremely nice downstairs room which was perfect.

Our booking was made at the last minute and only saw on booking.com confirmation just before we arrived that restaurant closed on a Sunday at 5 pm which was too early for us. Went to nearby restaurant a few miles away for dinner which was excellent and returned to pub expecting to be able to get a drink in the bar but entire pub was closed.

Room was comfortable and warm. Really nice evening meal, excellent breakfast and great service. The breakfast however was not served on the premises of The Bay Horse. Instead I was told to walk about 6 - 7 minutes down the road where it was served at their “sister property”.

The directions would have been improved if they had said that the “sister property “ was actually Goldsborough Hall! Beautiful location.

Very convenient spot near Knaresborough. Lots of free parking. Food at the Bay Horse is unbelievably good. We weren’t expecting it to be so amazing. Breakfast is a very short woodland walk to the Goldsborough Hotel, the sister property. Wonderful breakfast in sumptuous surroundings, we felt extremely lucky and spoilt!!

A spur of the moment booking after an event we should have been going to was cancelled leaving us all revved up and nowhere to go. A pin in a map took us .... Excellent room. Spacious, huge bed. Aircon style heating plus panel heater. All fixtures and fittings were modern with more than a little chic. Coffee pod (nespresso) machine with pods. Selection of quality teas. Classy shower. Huge telly No faff, high quality wi-fi

The bedside lights were a little on the dim side and flickered occasionally. No instructions for the coffee machine or the aircon/heating controls. Google for the former and experience with the latter sorted that. Minor gripes.
