The room was lovely. The beams and the whole attention to detail was really nice. The products in the room were great and the staff were really helpful. I couldn't remember if I'd booked breakfast but assumed I had as paid £164 which is way more than I'd normally pay for room only however thats what we had. The coffee in the room were little ground packets, a welcome break from Nescafe! The staff were great, so friendly and this makes all the difference. The beer garden was so chilled I just wish we were there for longer. The area is wonderful. I really feel like we had a break from the city.

The fan in the room wasn't very powerful although we appreciated it being there and without it wouldn't have slept at all. We were are the top of the barn, the most amazing roof but it was so very hot.

The room itself (Edinburgh)was was beautifully decorated and finishing of a high standard. Better than in the photo online. Excellent tea try with ground coffee and Yorkshire tea - large attractive cups and saucers rather than the usual mugs. Good quality toiletries in the bathroom. Nice fluffy towels. We were greeted by a very pleasant and helpful member of staff who showed us to our room rather than just handover a key and give directions.

Awoken by traffic noise at 5am and could not get back to sleep. Room overlooked a busy junction. I do like to sleep with a window open so if window had been shut it would not have been so bad. Duvet was too thick for a warm summer’s night so got hot. Breakfast- full English was excellent £14 per head. Well cooked and plentiful. However no cereal/ fruit to start or preserves for toast and just one cup of tea or coffee. Not offered a refill .

The Castle Inn was everything we hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel right at home. The staff were exceptional – warm, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and incredibly cosy – the perfect mix of character and comfort. The attention to detail really stood out, from the fluffy towels to the little touches that made all the difference. The food was a real highlight – both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. You can tell a lot of care and quality goes into everything they serve. We especially loved the relaxed atmosphere in the dining area, and the service was second to none. All in all, a first-class experience. We left feeling relaxed, well-fed, and already planning our next visit. Thank you to everyone at The Castle Inn for making our stay so special!

The staff were superb, friendly and helpful. Food was really delicious and my room was great.

I'd requested the accessible room, but booking.com hadn't confirmed this so I'm glad I called to check. Sadly the accessible room whilst on the ground floor and with ramped access had no facilities inside to help someone with a disability - only a walk in shower. No armrest or grab rail by the toilet, no raised toilet seat, no accessible lamp by the bed, and the sink was not securely fixed to the wall or floor. I spent an hour moving things around and coming up with solutions for my Dad to be safe in the room on his own. As I said - the staff were excellent, food delicious and my room was lovely (and very welcoming for me and my dog) but the room for my Dad was not adequate really.

Staff were lovely and, in general food was very good. Rather surprised that cereals, toast and marmalade, fruit were not supplied as part of breakfast and was therefore limited to cooked. I have never experienced this before.

The room seemed unfinished - no manager had ever slept in it! Needed a small table for writing / lap top and a couple of easy chairs. Room dominated by ‘pull out’ extra bed - not possible to sit on it and watch tv. Potentially a great room but wasted.

Absolutely everything. Just sad we didn't get to dine the night of our arrival as we have eaten here before but not stayed over. Best nights sleep EVER in a strange bed. Bed was soo comfy and pillows to die for (something we both usually struggle with) we just didn't want to get up 😊. Room was spacious with everything you could need. Fabulous that you actually give guests proper size bath sheets and not just bath towels. We decided on arrival to add breakfast but next time we will include it in the booking as I think it would work out better value for money. Loved the fact that we both had plug sockets as most places these days you only get it on one side of the bed. Also the USB ports are a great touch.

Nothing. Cannot fault the staff, accommodation of the food. Parking was limited as the pub was busy. I think we grabbed the last parking space.

We stayed at The Castle Inn for a one night stopover, after driving up from London To Hartlepool for a family visit. Wow, what a lovely place. From the moment we walked in, we were made very welcome. Everything about this Inn is perfect, from Check in, eating in the beautiful restaurant, to staying in one of the lovely bedrooms. The decor and level of service were outstanding, as were the staff. So a huge thanks to Dion, Joe and Becky for looking after us - great job guys. Thanks to the chef too, for the amazing food To be honest we couldn't fault this place, and will certainly stay here again.

Lovely modern airy dining room; traditional pub at front; super beer garden at rear. Fun bedroom with a Smartie four poster and Rowntrees fruit gum poster giving a nod to local industry. The tower fan was very welcome as were the opening windows. Lovely modem shower room. Great selection of breakfasts available. Staff are absolutely fabulous.

Disappointing Sunday ‘lunch’ but it was 7pm so perhaps a tad late. It is a very popular eating place so I suspect we were just unlucky.

It’s very clean and cosy. Has all the amenities nice filter coffee a nice tough and smarties! The staff are really friendly and helpful.

The tv wasn’t really working for any of the two night stay. T did try to fix it but it went back to faulty once turned off again so was slightly annoying as I like to listen to the news and have on before I sleep. This is twice I’ve been in the York room and neither times has been working very well.

Helpful staff who sorted an issue for us quickly and without question. The fabulous room decor in the Windsor room, which really made it special. You can see a lot of effort has gone into making the rooms intersting and the thinck lined curtains ensure a dark quiet room in the morning. I especially liked the bathroom too - mirror tiles in the shower that have mottled over time, making it very distinctive and interesting.

Nothing we didn't like, there was an issue with our first room and we were moved even though the issue in the first room was only temporary. We appreciated that they didn't inconvenience us where so many would. If there was anything i'd have liked to be different, it would be the bed - not because it was bad - it wasn't, i just prefer memory foam mattresses and pillows.
