Location is excellent

We have stayed in the basement rooms before and these have been excellent so we had assumed that they were all of the same design- hence the booking. However, this time the room provided had no privacy between the bedroom and bathroom areas and the separate toilet area had no wash basin which is a hygiene issue never before experienced in any hotel. Safety hold rails in the shower is something that should be considered as standard for a hotel of its standard. The former points were raised on leaving and were acknowledged by a 10% reduction which was appreciated. We will be staying again but checking first!

Deluxe room was fabulous- comfy and luxurious bedroom with lovely linens. Huge beautiful bathroom. Bathroom goals in another life! Loved having L’Occitaine products to use. Hotel ambiance relaxed yet stylish. Food good.

Having just driven 4 hours didn’t love being told to get back in the car and circumnavigate the one way system around the town in order to park at the back. There were spaces at the front and another guest had apparently reserved one. Wasn’t advised of that possibility. Many emails and messages prior to arriving asking if I wanted to upgrade/ book dinner etc etc. I opted for the Fixed Price dinner, booked a time slot that was available. When we sat down to eat was told that we were too late for that menu option. Must have missed something but not sure why I could book a time that wasn’t appropriate to it. Bar staff unfriendly and offhand, some of the wait staff were clearly fed up. Service was slow and abrupt. Was a Monday evening, maybe had been a long weekend!

A lovely big room with great view. An exceptionally comfortable bed with lovely pillows. We enjoyed a very good breakfast with a lot of options for cooked dishes as well as yogurts, breads and pastries etc. the staff were friendly and helpful and the French style dinner menu was also very good. Fantastic large bathroom. Book a deluxe room if you can. It’s worth it.

Nothing really. The hotel is well set back from the road but some traffic noise is unavoidable at the front if the window is open as it had to be in hot weather.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and lots of choice. We arrived around an hour earlier than our check in time, but we were able to check in. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

My only observation that could be improved upon, was the fact that there were quite a lot of cobwebs in communal areas of the hotel as well as a few in the room. Just requires a little extra attention, but this does not detract from the enjoyable stay myself and my partner had.

Our room was terrific. Great space, good quality bathroom products and a comfortable bed. The breakfast selection was excellent with every option covered and the teams on duty were a pleasure. The location was fantastic and we could walk to everywhere. Shopping , restaurants etc were all within easy reach and the beautiful park opposite was lovely for an early walk

Wardrobe hanging space. It felt as if too much space had been allocated to shelved areas that a set of drawers under the TV could have solved for that type of clothing. We then had little to no space in a one unit layout to hang our clothes so that my husband had to have trousers etc hung over chair backs. It was impossible to hang clothing and jackets etc in a small space , already compromised by ironing facilities, a trouser press, a fan etc. It was good to have those facilities in the room, an iron is especially welcome, but the wardrobe space is very badly configured and poor supply of hangers. This was a shame to feel so frustrated by this, considering how terrific everything else was.

It was in an excellent location and the building and rooms had space and period charm. There was a warm and attractive atmosphere - especially in The Bistro. Breakfast was excellent. The Staff were pleasant and professional.

We had to pay an exorbitant premium to stay on a Saturday night in December which made 'value for money' very questionable. If that was the standard rate, I would say that it was definitely not worth it. Luckily, during normal times, the price seems reasonable. I have to admit would not stay again at the price I had to pay.

Location, comfort, breakfast, resources like tea station, a range of products if needed and friendly staff

As mentioned to the staff when leaving as a solo visitor I felt slightly uneasy with being located outside the hotel… not only was the room dark and stuffy but being alone and on the street rather than in the hotel it made me feel slightly uncomfortable and checking in late after a wedding it was very late to make a move or address with staff.. something to consider for solo female visitors. Also the rooms outside are quite noisy with people walking by and people walking above early morning. But it was a nice room

Very special, always drove passed this place and thought I’d love to stay there so we did. The staff at reception were so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, they provided us with some great recommendations to make our stay even better. The room was outstanding, spacious, beautifully decorated, comfy bed, and best bathroom I’ve ever had in a hotel. Hotel is in a fantastic location to explore Harrogate and we had the opportunity to share a lovely bottle of wine in the bar at the end of the day exploring and shopping. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Second visit to this hotel. This time stayed in one of the basement rooms. Lovely bathroom, room very clean, although as a basement room would imagine it could be very stuffy in hot weather, however noted portable fan in wardrobe. Facilities good, breakfast whilst rather expensive, was good. Staff very friendly.

Had difficulty with the in-room safe, failed to open, reported fault but unfortunately after more than an hour had to ask they leave it until the following morning as we had a table booked at a local resteraunt. As there was a wedding reception at the hotel, we appreciated that staff were busy. Also, found the overnight charges for parking at the hotel rather expensive.

We arrived late at night and were given a room on the ground floor. The next day we mentioned to reception that there was a bad smell in the bathroom. We were instantly offered another room, on the first floor, with a lovely view of the Stray. The staff could not have been more helpful in moving us. The staff were overall very pleasant and very helpful, including those at the breakfast.

There was nothing to dislike.
