Comfortable room and excellent restaurant staff with a good range for breakfast.

Beware when booking a twin room on Booking.com that you search for the facility when booking to record that two people are occupying the room as the hotel don't assume that this is the case and there is more to pay on the day of departure from the hotel.

Excellent location. Was a bit disappointed with the room, smaller than expected and in need of updating. Mattress exceptionally firm.

Price for the room was good value for three adults staying there. Staff were friendly and helpful and location was excellent for what we needed. There was a great variety in choice for the breakfast with good quality.

Only real gripe was that we picked this hotel with it having parking facility. We understood that we weren’t guaranteed a spot but we weren’t told that there was a £12 parking charge! I personally do no not like prices to be hidden from my original booking and things like this leave a slight sour taste after an otherwise excellent stay. The room we stayed in was clean but possibly could do with a refresh decor wise?

I came with a friend who has mobility difficulties. She had telephoned beforehand to book a room with a walk-in shower, but when we arrived, such a room was not available. In fact we were told that the hotel has only 2 such rooms, which had already been booked previously. A grab rail was provided to help her to step in and out of the bath, which was great, but can I suggest that some more bathrooms are converted to level access showers? There must be lots of older people who struggle to step over the side of a bath to access a shower. Removing a bath and installing a low access tray in its place is a fairly straightforward procedure.

We arrived for the weekend with another 2 couples for a friend's birthday, it was a smooth check-in. We had a table booked for evening meal the food was lovely. The staff were super helpful they brought out a birthday cake which had taken with and they gave a bottle of wine on the house. Nothing was a trouble. Breakfast was beautiful with lots of choice.

Unfortunately the bed was too hard for my liking and didn't sleep well the first night but I spoke to the lovely girl on reception and she arranged for a mattress topper to be fitted. 2nd night sleep was lovely. Hotel decor is a little dated and could do with an upgrade but it didn't spoil our stay.

Fantastic suite, really quiet on a nightime with the windows closed considering the central location. I thought the bed was really comfortable and for a dated building everything was in good working order. The breakfast was excellent, I had some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever tasted. We also had good views (second floor) from the room, and the cleaning staff were really attentive and always smiling. The bar area is really cosy and comfortable, with books available to browse and a grand sitting room with spectacular high ceilings and period features. It was an ideal area for chilling out or having a couple more glasses of wine to end the night. The only slight negative is the small car park at the front, although there is overspill behind the hotel and also a larger car park round the corner behind the Wetherspoons. Despite this, I was lucky to get one in the front. We've stayed in many hotels in Harrogate, and this one is definitely a favourite.

The rooms were very spacious (double executive) very clean everywhere. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection & alternatives that could be requested. All staff were pleasant & helpful especially Dillon on reception who was brilliant

Although there are lifts, there are also stairs that lead up to the rooms ( so no direct lift to the rooms) I was told when booking this would be the case for family rooms, but wasn’t expecting stairs to the executive rooms. This is totally down to the build of the hotel - but anyone with mobility issues may find the stairs a struggle. Access in other areas was fine

Great location in the Centre of Harrogate- with the bonus of parking right outside. Evening meal was superb, although staff were a little inexperienced (see below). And excellent value at £20/£22 p/head for a two course meal if you are staying. Breakfast staff very helpful and attentive with my wife’s gluten free dietary requirement Reception staff were excellent and very knowledgeable.

The staff in the dining hall all seemed very inexperienced. We ate in the there on one evening, and there were three staff who all seemed a little confused about what was going on - even though there were only about half a dozen covers. Even though they were keen to please (they let us taste the wine before ordering) - it took a while before the wine and water came to the table, and we were had nearly finished the starter before it eventually came On the Sunday morning breakfast, it took a while for them to keep on top of “stocking up” on glasses, beans and fried eggs - which we had to ask the staff for and wait quite a while

The Crown is a beautiful hotel in a great location. It has been used in many TV productions. The rooms were quite basic and needed some TLC but for the cost we were still very pleased. The beds were very firm and some blinds at the windows were needed. The public rooms are very grand you would expect in a building of this age and people were having high tea in the lounges. The breakfast was exceptional, gorgeous fruit salad etc. We stayed on a B&B basis and will definitely look to be staying again in the future.

This is an elegant hotel in a central location. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room, and the communal areas were well kept and clean. The old photos in the hallways are a nice touch. Breakfast was buffet style but you could order some fresh prepared items. There was reasonable choice and staff kept the items topped up.

The hotel has very limited parking although there was a public car park near by. We booked a 2 night stay on half board basis. Although the food was good, it was the same menu both nights and probably all week. The service for the evening meal was quite slow and we waited a while for drinks to arrive. However, these small issues did not spoil our stay and we would recommend.
