Comfortable room and excellent restaurant staff with a good range for breakfast.

Beware when booking a twin room on Booking.com that you search for the facility when booking to record that two people are occupying the room as the hotel don't assume that this is the case and there is more to pay on the day of departure from the hotel.

Excellent location. Was a bit disappointed with the room, smaller than expected and in need of updating. Mattress exceptionally firm.

The Crown is superbly located in the lower part of town, close to the Pump Room Museum, the Victorian Royal Baths and Valley Gardens. The hotel is a large and imposing building, an interesting part of the history of Harrogate. My room was a simple single, perfectly adequate for a solo traveller. Breakfast was always good - served buffet-style in a vast dining room. Staff were pleasant and friendly. It's a short walk to Betty's tea shop and other shops beyond, but be prepared for an uphill walk if you're heading direct from the hotel, up The Ginnel, to the Bus Station or Railway Station. I would happily stay here again..

Location. Situated in the centre of Harrogate in walking distance of all facilities. The staff in whatever roll were most helpful and polite. The dining facilities were very good and priced competitively against any of the outlying establishments. The food was always well cooked and presented.

Not a didn’t like more observation. The hotel is an old and historic building in the centre of Harrogate, some of the rooms are showing their age though are due to be upgraded and all are kept well maintained. Being in a town centre location, car parking is at a premium and I would recommend booking a space with the hotel in advance.

The Crown Hotel is a beautiful old building, well positioned in the town of Harrogate and close to all it has to offer. The staff were very friendly and helpful, including Zoe on Reception and Lily in Henry's Bar. The hotel is dog-friendly, and our dog was welcomed and made to feel completely at home.

The creaky floorboards in the bedrooms and the upstairs corridors are something that the management may want to take a look at in time, but are probably to be expected in such an old building. The parking space I was allocated at the rear of the hotel was very tight, but in the end didn't inconvenience us at all.

Breakfast was excellent with a large choice available, both full English and Continental. Scrambled eggs available as standard, other styles cooked to order. The public rooms are an absolute delight, button back leather suites abound, large picture windows and superb stucco ceilings remind one of a stately home. The jewel in the crown is the staff, every one we came across was an absolute credit to the hotel, from the room cleaners to the dining room staff they were superb. Special mentions to both Zoe and Josh. They helped with our luggage and to find a car parking space which was a great help to someone with mobility problems. All in all it was a brilliant stay and we really enjoyed our 4 night break.

If booking again, which we probably will, I would request a room on the top floor. We were on the second, middle floor, and were woken up on several occasions by the noise of the floorboards creaking from the occupants of the room above moving about in the middle of the night. It is important to note that car parking is chargeable and has to be booked in advance- all hotels in Harrogate appear to charge extra for car parking.

We had a spacious double room. The bed was comfortable and clean. Our room had a bath with shower over the bath. The breakfast was substantial. The evening meal although limited in choice was delicious and at a reasonable price. We ate there both nights. The hotel is situated to most amenities in the town yet outside noise wasn’t problematic. I would stay there again.

Our room was on the second floor, the window opened slightly (2nd floor, front facing, health and safety regulations in place. In addition very hot weather) so it was quite stuffy even with an electric fan. The decor is a little tired in places but adds to the charm of the hotel. It didn’t compromise our stay.

The location was perfect for our discovery weekend in Harrogate-everything was within easy walking distance. Our room was small but OK- bathroom a little on the tight side, why oh why don't hotels ditch the bath and have a shower only, so much more user friendly and eco. Plenty of food available for breakfast, but not the best quality. Overall would stay again, but not book breakfast.

Large, full hotel-2 parties on the Saturday night( noise wasn't a problem)-one small bar ,one barman= slow service( poor man, he did his best!!) Lots of choice for breakfast but food quality dubious and as for the cooking.. Faulty Towers seems better-I could have nailed my fried egg to the wall. How long some of the stuff was in the kitchen under heater lamps is anyone's guess.

Central location, accepts dogs, large quieter comfortable airy room. Pleased we got an allocated parking space.

An evening party took president over dinner service for resident guests meaning it took a long time to get served once seated and drinks didn't arrive albeit charged on the final bill. I had my g&t removed before paying! We didn't dine again due to the service albeit our waiter was attentive it appeared the kitchen and bar was the issue. Having upgraded our room we were disappointed with the tatty damaged quality of the drawer units and desk and would have expected much better and a super king bed for the size of room rather than a double.

On arrival we were checked in by Zoe, she was very friendly and we felt welcomed. It made a really good first impression. The location is superb. Really central and surounded by good bars, shops, cafés and restaurants. On this occasion we arrived by train so didn't need any parking but is is available for an additional fee. The room was quiet and spacious with a private bathroom with bath. We slept well. The hotel bar was quite busy in the evening. It was good to see it being used but enough seating available. Breakfast was good value with a hot and continental buffet style selection. Plenty of choice and helpful staff. Lots of tables free at 09.00 on a Saturday morning in the large, beautiful dinningroom.
