Stayed 6 nights. Excellent location for touring around York tourist attractions. Hotel in lovely grounds, quiet and tranquil place. Hotel is finished to a high standard, room was excellent with decent wardrobe space, desk, coffee facilities, with a nice view of the golf course, river and farmland beyond. Bedroom has quality air conditioning that runs quietly for both heat and cold. The two evenings meals taken in the restaurant were excellent with friendly and prompt service. Had bar food for one night as well which was also very good.

Friendly and engaging staff for the most part, couple of mornings at breakfast two younger female members of staff really couldn’t be bothered and a bit slap dash, the rest of the breakfast team over the 6 days were excellent. Had to make a complaint about fried eggs one morning as the yokes were rock hard, they should not have come out of the kitchen! This was rectified by Duty Manager and it did not happen again during our stay. Another niggle was toilet roll not replaced, nor tea bags, nor shower soap - had to ask reception to ensure housekeeping replenished items used, otherwise the rest of the room/bathroom was serviced fine. The above niggles are minor BUT with a hotel of this standard “details matter”.

As we were celebrating our 30th Anniversary we upgraded to a suite and it was gorgeous, beautifully decorated and very comfy bed. They even left us a personalised congratulations card. The facilities are lovely and it is right on a golf course so plenty to walk around. Breakfast was excellent and we ate in the Elements restaurant on the Friday night which was pricey but nice. The wine room is fun but can be expensive once you start trying a few. Nice idea though. Overall lovely hotel and excellent staff

The only minor thing was that we found the wifi wasn't great in our room and so affected the TV reception and being able to use the free wifi. We did raise with the staff who checked but didn't seem to find a solution. Wifi in the main part of the hotel was ok

All rooms were decorated to perfection, and the breakfast room was welcoming, the food was great quality and staff were very friendly. The Deluxe bedroom was stunning, and we had a WOW when we walked in - this is me being fussy but the mattress was slightly too hard for me (personal choice) but the pillows were divine! Loved the outdoor areas, and so much to offer on site

The only downside was the spa not being open as I imagine the site would be stunning in keep with the rest of the hotel, but this was advertised so not a problem. I will definitely return when this is open!

The hotel is lovely and just what we were looking for that weekend - tranquility. The place is spotless , it’s really clean and tidy. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. We stayed in the main building in a classic room with a garden view. The only downside was the food in the main restaurant (The Elements). Breakfast choice and set up wasn’t the best and quite expensive. Dinner at the Elements was also somewhat disappointing. Our favourite place was the bar and its outside area. The atmosphere there was amazing. Overall I’d still definitely come back to this place and would recommend it. It’s beautiful.

The male staff member in the golf bar was extremely helpful, obliging, and courteous. A credit to your establishment.

No signage for reception or that we couldn't or advised we shouldn't park in small car park next to reception in arrival! No signage to reflect this! We had to request room clean on Sunday, they did this late afternoon with no replenish of biscuits etc. The restaurant provided lovely food, but the table was left with dirty plates throughout breakfast and not cleared in between courses or tea/coffee offered to be replenished..

Incredible period style property located nicely outside of York in the village of Aldwark. Beautifully set within an estate with golf course, surrounded by countryside .. the perfect retreat The ornate features and grand corridors made it feel very luxurious . The double delux room we stayed in was fantastic . It was spacious , very grand and ideal for our stay .

The only negatives would be that the pillows were quite hard and the room was incredibly warm with little options to counteract the warmth other than to open the windows , which were limited , I imagine for safety reasons Disappointed breakfast wasn’t included in the price I paid for the room We also dined in the Elements restaurant, which was lovely but sadly only one veggie option on the menu .. maybe the menu could be revised to cater for vegetarians ? ..

I loved the interesting decoration of the hotel space , lovely winidng stairwell , and the beautiful archway with flowers of elements bar , the rooms were beautiful with lovely panelling woodern doors and funky stylish mirrors , the theme of churchill was superb , I shook churchills hand at the doorway near reception what a fabulous hotel , staff were lovely and informative very helpful , I loved the shards of food with olives I had for my starter was amazing the taste of the olives each meal was cooked great loved the chips we had and fish perfectly cooked food for our meal.

I didn't like having to go home from the hotel as it was superb place local to york a short drive.

We visited over the weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary, on arrival the staff wished us happy anniversary and on entering our room, a anniversary card and chocolates awaited. This was a lovely thought. The room were spotless, lovely view of the gardens, staff were very professional in their roles. Food were outstanding. Breakfast were also very good, well worth the money. I would highly recommend and we will certainly return

There is nothing to dislike

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location we were staying in a room within the bunkers building. All was well until we turned the lights off at which point we realised there was a green light directly above the bed. Also when the people in the next room used the bathroom we heard everything very clearly there seemed to be zero noise insulation at all. We managed to get to sleep but then at 3am some fellow guests arrived and had a conversation directly outside our door then proceeded to their rooms causing considerable noise from toilets flushing water running etc. I expected better if I am honest we left feeling as if we had no rest at all. I look forward to hearing from you in relation to this.
