Ability to come in late. Room was able to be used to change clothing for a wedding even though the room was not actully ready. Very helpful. Breakfast very good. Bedroom accommodation very nice.

I mentioned that the approach to the fire exit for coming in late was rather dark. Some steep stairs may not suit everyone.

Lovely old pub where we overnighted en route to Scotland. Beautiful setting not too far from A1. Really friendly and helpful staff - Katie, Greg and others. Superbly appointed room with all facilities including a small fridge. Excellent dinner served outside on a warm evening. Full Yorkshire breakfast to send us on our way. If we had more time, it would be ideal for exploring York.

Location was perfect, hidden away in a very small, quiet village, no traffic. The pub itself was very homely and cosy and well laid out. There was plenty of space between tables in the dining area, no sitting on top of each other. The evening menu wasn't extensive but there was something for everyone. The menu was predominantly fish based which made a very pleasant change, but again there were some meat courses. The food was absolutely excellent, very well cooked and nicely presented. Both our main courses were delicious. The staff were very efficient and extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room itself was very nice, very clean, well decorated and comfortable. The only thing missing for us were chairs to sit on, however we had the smallest room and apparently the other rooms do have chairs. The bathroom was superb, very spacious and everything you could want. A separate walk in shower was a bonus. The breakfast menu had a reasonable selection of dishes and again the food was very well cooked. Couldn't fault any of the facilities in any way. We will stay again.

Very pretty bedroom. Such comfortable beds. We heard birds singing all the time we were there as we had the windows open. We saw several hares on an evening walk down the lane. Friendly & helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, great choice and lovely fresh fruit, all served by staff who aim to please. We will definitely return to the restaurant as the food was superb, inventive and delicious. Highly recommend.

We were disappointed that winter duvets were on the bed on a hot day/night whilst the summer duvets were in the wardrobe drawer - I would have expected staff to have changed them appropriately. We were too hot.

The location was so quiet and peaceful, had a really good nights sleep. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of space within the room. The mini fridge and drink making facilities were an added bonus. The breakfast options were great, especially to be able to have continental and cooked. Everything looked well presented, tasty and really impressive. The member of staff that greeted us upon arrival and showed us to our room was very helpful and friendly, as was the other member of staff manning breakfast solo!

The continental breakfast food that was out could have done with some coverings, as due to the rural location there was the odd bug flying around.

Friendly staff and amazing food, well decorated. The bar staff were very helpful and provided wasp spray for our room and took some of the wasps away and also gave us some freebies for the inconvenience. Nice national trust places nearby and not far to York centre.

Our room had a lot of wasps in, not ideal when we have dogs and I am pregnant. We told some of the staff and the cleaning man went in our room while we were out and left the door open with all our stuff in which wasn't ideal.

This is a Yorkshire gem, quaint, comfortable and convenient. There are delightful walks through fields and the village. Get a history lesson about the location as it’s very interesting. But the point of difference is the exceptional service provided by every member of the staff. The breakfast was superb and our dinners (because we couldn’t resist dining in) were a delight. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Basically a fab stay, lovely room with a beautiful bath, however a little warm as the heating was uncontrollable at the radiator, really lovely bed.

2 points, 1st the TV in the room was mounted on the side wall so if you watched upright in bed you end up with a stiff neck. 2nd the food was delicious on our 1st night, couldn't be faulted and service brilliant, on our 2nd night it was late, cold and could not be eaten, however the manager on duty was fabulous and tried her utmost to replace the meal with an alternative, she didn't charge for the original dish and the replacement was free too. These Things sometimes happen however they way in which it was dealt with was perfect. would definitely return. thanks TT.

Fantastic place to stay, food gorgeous would definitely stay again

Most of the staff were brilliant especially Enya, Sam behind the bar and Greg in the morning all brilliant. The guy Warren who greeted us on arrival was not very good, not welcoming at all and didn’t improve the rest of the evening. I do feel he’s in totally the wrong job. He doesn’t want any engagement with his clients whatsoever. Yet everyone else was lovely, and the food and accommodation were great 👍🏼

We stayed for one night with our two dogs and we were so well looked after by the staff at the Tickled Trout Inn. The food was absolutely delicious, we had Sunday lunch and dinner later that evening and the breakfast the next day was gorgeous. The staff were so kind and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Very highly recommended!
