Quiet location behind the building at bottom of car park.Garden with picnic benches outside the accommodation. Clean apartment with kettle and fridge. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and sachets of milk. Restaurant is inside the main building as no facilities in appartment to cook but this wasn't a problem for us. The restaurant has a good variety of meals for lunch and evening meals. Reasonable prices. Friendly, helpful staff. There is a small communal room in the accommodation building with plates, cutlery, iron but couldn't find any bowls. However, we slept well and enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again
No facilities for breakfast as the place doesn't open until mid day. Communal room would benefit from a microwave to heat some milk for breakfast plus a few bowls.

Lovely location, just a 20 minute walk into York (buses available if you don't want to walk). Parking makes it excellent value and convenient.
We were on the ground floor this time, having stayed in both upstairs apartments previously. This room was a bit shabbier than the others and we were overlooked at times, as other guests needed to walk past our windows. However, it was clean and comfortable, but could do with updating, especially the lighting, as it was a little dark. We will stay again though. Not put off.

I arrived hot and frazzled, and picked the keys up at the pub. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub is open and spacious, with a beer garden in front (between the pub and the road) so peaceful and fresh. The menu was interesting so I stayed for a small tasty meal. Already I was feeling better. The lodge is behind the pub, so well away from the road, and facing slightly away to limit pub noise, with it's own green space. When I booked I asked for as few stairs as possible, and a bath instead of shower if possible. I got a large room on the ground floor, with bath, so was well pleased. The room had drawers, hanging space, chair, full mirror and a fridge. Also sockets near the bed. Lots of room to move around, nothing was crammed together. A long cool soak in the bath and I felt almost human again. Finding fresh milk sachets in the fridge was an extra bonus. Just down the road is small group of shops, including a small supermarket and an outstanding cafe. Buses into the center.
The mattress was rather lumpy.

The accommodation was located central to our needs. Parking onsite was available in the pub carpark. Our room was located in a small building at the back of the carpark. I was concerned about safety of the vehicle in such a public place, but nothing happened. Convenient having food/drinks available onsite without having to leave the premises after a long day out.
The rooms needed renovation, but they were acceptable for the price we paid. A little noisy in the evening, but nothing too late. Facilities were old but served the purpose. Just a little outdated, but I would still stay there again.

Having a fridge in the room was an excellent addition. The room was spacious. The staff were very helpful on providing information on the area. The chef was kind in doing a meal for us instead of going home early, very much appreciated.
We experienced the heat wave. The room just could not be cooled, even though there was a fan, it needed air conditioning to make a difference. The mugs required changing as they were chipped we had our own. More than two coat hangers are required.

It was great accommodation block was away from the pub as there are only four units so it's quiet. Two up a flight of stairs and two on the ground floor. Obviously, sometimes you hear other guests walking around, but you expect that in an older building. Staff were helpful and friendly at the pub, and the meals we had were great. Bed was comfortable. The shower was over the bath, and the pressure was okay. They have stayed in other places with worse showers.
Could be a bit more generous with their amenities like separate hand-wash, tissues, and toilet paper. Room gives a luxurious vibe but needs these simple touches to take it there along with a cleaner who looks up to see dust and cobwebs on ceiling and lightshades. However, this would not put me off staying again as it is an awesome place.

Rooms in separate building so no pub noise. Large very clean room with fab towels, bath, tea and coffee making, TV, long mirror, drawers, hanging space, easy chair. Lovely crisp bed linen. ⁹Friendly welcome. Easy 1.6 mile walk into city or bus stop outside the premises. Not luxury but great price and we were very comfortable and happy to stay for 2 nights. Oh and free parking too!
The bed was comfortable but a bit low ... not a problem really.

The room was a decent size. Clean and comfortable. One pleasant surprise was the small fridge in the room with a couple of bottles of water in it along with the milk sachets. Also liked the fact the accommodation was a little distance from the pub so it was lovely and quiet. We had the windows wide open all night. The bathroom was also a good size. Makes a change to find somewhere that has a bath. The bath was nice and deep. Also plenty of Hot water. This place is ideal if you are on a budget and don't mind not having breakfast.
In the bathroom, they could do with putting up a skirting board to finish the aesthetics off. They could also do with putting a handrail on the wall above the bath. To help people with disabilities to get in and out of the bath or shower. There is also a small leak coming from somewhere near the pedestal of the sink. We kept finding a small puddle after a number of hours of mopping it up.

The location was good, just a bus ride away from the city centre and the train station. The lodge we had was great, out of the way of the main building so nice and quiet with a little beer garden of our own!
When we left the next day we wanted food but the bar was closed - this was at 11oclock, not sure what time they open or start serving food on a Sunday, but we could have done with some breakfast there before travelling home.
