Warm welcome, easy to find, cosy and homely, LOVELY OWNERS! car park really handy and a fab location. Will definitely be back as my son has already decided we are coming back to watch more trains from the window.

Sadly there is no longer a garden, a separate building has now been put in the space and the car park is gravel where there was once grass and a play area. TVs have no smart tv for things like youtube (there is plenty of wifi though so you can connect with your own tablet if you have brought one) If you are in the rooms with a kitchenette, there is no freezer compartment in the fridge nor is there a tea towel for drying the washing up. Just as a note, not a complaint. Nothing to majorly get upset about at all, already planning a return as it was wonderful.

I sent a message through Bookings.com to ask if flowers and chocolates could be in the room when we arrived as a surprise for my Wife's 60th Birthday. I didn't get a reply other than explaining about parking so not sure if there was a system glitch but there wasn't that surprise waiting and on this feedback form it states was my question fulfilled for parking? Other than that The Apple House was what I expected according to other reviews with an excellent breakfast. I upgraded to the Superior King Room. Like most of these hotels and the rooms although the room was very clean needs modernising along with the bathroom. The bed was comfortable but thought the quilt should have been a summer quilt up to at least Oct as this was very hot to have on through the night being heavy and thick in weight so slept on top of it rather than having it on us. I also found the radiator was on in both the room and bathroom to which could be turned off so you could please yourself as to whether you wanted it on or not. In saying the above I would still recommend this hotel, it's in a great location with: 20 min walk to the centre or just 5 mins to local shops and bars. Very friendly and welcoming staff! Excellent Breakfast!

The room we had was small but had everything we needed. The breakfast was pre-order for the hot food and self service for the fruit, cereal and juices. All was very nice and all fresh. The location was perfect just a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of York. Free car park at the back of the property was a definite bonus and being able to leave the car there the following day without the need to go find parking was perfect.

There are no negatives from us. But if you have mobility issues this is not the place for you at the moment until the new rooms are ready at the back of the property (just being built).

Our second time at Apple House and the hosts were as friendly and accomodating as last time. And the full English breakfasts were very nicely cooked and there was an excellent choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereal etc. Situated well, it is close to the centre yet just far enough away from it.

Pity they have lost most of the car park due to it being built on! The remainder was also blocked by a builder's van when we arrived. Which was an unwelcome surprise. However the owner showed us where to park off road at a house almost next door to the hotel. Also, due to the unseasonably hot weather we had to have the window open at its widest setting which means the noise from the train station not too far away was an issue we did not have last time we stayed, which was much earlier in the year so the window was closed and the double glazing clearly blocked the noise very well. But the weather is clearly no fault of the accomodation or owners and we enjoyed our short stay again and would return.

Ideal location for walking into York centre. Only took about 10 minutes. Great that we could leave the car in the secure parking and not use it until we left! Danielle was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The lady who served us breakfast was very friendly as well. Tarquin cooked a great breakfast each morning. We ordered what we wanted the night before and selected a time to eat, which worked out great as the food was ready for us within minutes of sitting down! Bed was very comfortable and room was clean, with a fridge and lots of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Very large bathroom with a huge bath. Definitely recommended and hope to be back later in the year!

Staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming, always happy to stop and chat ask of everythings ok it's a pleasure to stay (returning stay). Little touches like dvds to use, books to read. Value is outstanding and breakfast is lovely with continental and choice of cooked food. Short walk to city centre. Free parking, free WiFi. Extra touches like chocolate bar, hot chocolate, biscuits all complimentary. We've paid a lot more and got a lot less for our money in York so we'll be regulars now we've found this gem!

Not a complaint but we would prefere mattress protector and no carbon monoxide alarm near to boiler

The Apple House greeted us with a friendly and very welcoming arrival. There are so many well thought out extras. The room we stayed in (number 2 Empire) was spacious with a quality stocked tea tray, beautiful towels, very comfortable bed and an additional heater should you need it. The breakfast was exceptional especially enjoyed the fruit bowl and thick yoghurt (much better than many others hotels/b&b's). I also posted a Google review which shows the fruit on offer. We are looking forward to many more stays. Short walk into city, plus when you get to the traffic lights where Micklegate starts there are steps on the left up to the wall and that is a lovely walk along into the city centre.

There was nothing to dislike.

Lovely traditional B&B, ran by a very friendly couple. It just had lovely quaint vibes and reminded me of the all the lovely B&Bs I stayed in as a child. It was very clean, the service was fabulous, and the bed was very comfy. Plus the location is ideal.

Almost everything was spot on. The only slight issue was that my husband’s bacon and sausage was a little hard on the 1st morning. Still very tasty, and fine the 2nd day - so probably just a one-off hiccough behind the scenes. These things happen, not a big deal. A suggestion I would have is to offer a vegetarian sausage or bacon, and egg sandwich as a breakfast option. The veggie breakfast was delicious, but I have a habit of eating everything that is in front of me - so a smaller but filling hot breakfast option would have been a great option for me. This is entirely a personal preference and not a negative comment about our stay or the establishment. Thank you so much, we hope to be back soon!

Firstly, the location! Only 5 minutes walk from York Railway Station. Lovely big house in a residential area. Really warm welcome, pre-orders for breakfast taken for the following morning. Clean, warm room with en-suite bathroom. Very comfy bed. Plenty of tea, coffee, sugar, bottled water & even biscuits & a Yorkie chocolate bar! Fantastic choice at breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurts, choice of cereals, and fruit juices. Tastey, cooked breakfast served to our table (pre-ordered day before!) There is a choice of a big or small breakfast, so you can change your mind the next day! Pot of tea or coffee served fresh to the table. Excellent, comfortable stay, only 5-10 minutes walk into York city. Would definitely stay here again!

Nothing negative to say! Only a suggestion....I would prefer to order cooked breakfast at the table, in case I don't feel like too much to eat. I do appreciate it helps the chef with planning and less waste food in the kitchen.

I received a warm welcome from Danielle who checked me in. She was very knowledgeable about the area and told me a handy short cut to.the train station and gave me a map of interesting places to visit in York The hot breakfast tasted great and kept me full for most of the day. The location was only a short walk into the city centre and train station. The room was clean and tidy.

I was woken up a few times by the sound of trains in the early hours of the morning, which couldn't be helped as it was due to the location.
