First impressions were amazing, beautiful big country inn with lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy a beer or 2 in the sunshine. Interior furniture and decor continued to impress and was immaculate. Finally our bedroom was large modern and immaculate, with the most comfortable king size bed.
We arrived on a Sunday for a 2 night break and had booked a table for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately my wife ordered roast beef while I chose lamb shank. The lamb was wonderful but the roast beef was cold and so tough she couldn't even cut it. I'm sure the waitress knew the beef was poor as within minutes she came and asked how it was. My wife told her it was terrible, it was replaced with a new lunch which was hot but still tough. My wife couldn't eat it and left the whole plate of food.. The breakfasts and the next evening's meals were wonderful. Every member of staff were very polite and friendly.

Our room was perfect, the furnishings and the colours were just beautiful. We loved it, and it was very in keeping with our surroundings in the countryside. Fantastic full English breakfast which kept my husband happy and other options that I could choose from. We had our supper on our first night. This pub was so busy midweek and people obviously travel here for the excellent food. Our supper was fab. Lovely outside area, so relaxing after a long day at the show.
Our room was stifling hot. We had a fan which we used and opened the windows as far as we could but it couldn't be helped due to the high temperatures that Yorkshire was having.

We arrived on a sunny afternoon, when many people were enjoying drinks on the terrace, surrounded by the most stunning and colourful floral tubs and baskets, giving a good feel to the place. We were given a warm welcome, with the offer of a complimentary drink of our choice. Our room was beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and with everything we needed. Fortunately, we had booked a table for dinner, as the restaurant was very busy - however we enjoyed a delicious meal, with good service and very reasonable prices for such a lovely country inn. We had wandered across the road to look into the pretty, well cared for, little village church, and after a walk through the quiet, peaceful village, we met a couple of local ladies, who made us feel very welcome, and we chatted with them, learning more about the village. We only wish we had found the Blue Bell Country Inn on our previous jaunts up and down between Berkshire and Scotland, as it was the perfect halfway overnight stop for us. We shall be returning, and would highly recommend it.
Nothing. We couldn't fault anything.

This is an absolute gem. It’s an immaculate and beautiful place to stay. We booked for our Wedding Anniversary and the Blue Bell staff made it feel very special. Emily checked us in, wishing us a happy wedding anniversary, just a lovely touch. The Blue Bell had put an ice bucket with Prosecco, glasses and an anniversary card in the room ready for us on arrival, such a lovely kind thing to do. The room we were in (Room 4) was beautiful, with plenty of room and very clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable as well as looking lovely. We had booked in for an evening meal and were given the lovely table with big chairs in the corner and it felt very special. What can I say about the food, wow. My husband order the Lamb dish and I, the fish pie. I can highly recommend both, both so flavoursome and very delicious. My husband said it was the best lamb he had ever had. Leigh was brilliant and made sure we were well looked after. Breakfast was included and it again was lovely. A small selection of cereals, yogurt and pastries were available to help yourself to and then a menu to order breakfast freshly cooked. It again was delicious. Compliments to the chef. Sharon waited on us and she was just brilliant, making sure we had everything we needed. The Blue Bell is really gorgeous, all areas are beautiful and the staff make this place something special. Highly recommend staying here.

Room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, had the added bonus of a balcony. The bathroom was spotless, and having the bath and shower separate was good too. Location was in a beautiful setting, easy to reach other towns and villages within a short drive. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent.
Have only 2 niggles, had trouble adjusting the water temp in the shower and although there were blinds up, light was still coming through them and the window in the door, would have benefitted from having curtains up, but that's me I need a dark room to be able to sleep...

From welcome drink, to homemade cakes each day in our room & staff who go above and beyond if something isn’t right or you need something. Outstanding customer service. The property was central to our locations to visit. Allocated car parking for residents. Well kept property & grounds, with spacious rooms & areas. The aroma scents in the ladies toilets are divine. Vivienne & Amber stood out to us with their customer service. Breakfast & evening meals were faultless & clearly use local produce “exceptional food!”

The hotel is situated in an area where there's lots to see and do. Within easy reach historic York to the east and Harrogate to the west with RHS Harlow Carr not forgetting Betty's. In a quiet village you can relax in the evening with excellent cuisine, can recommend the fish pie, at the hotel and a pint or 3 of local Theakston's best beer and no driving. If you're a National Trust member lots of places are within easy reach. Knaresboro on your doorstep can easily fill a day, market day is wednesday.
Leaving and only a mild inconvenience, no EV charging.

Very warm welcome from staff. All facilities as described. This is most definitely not a 3 star it deserves much more all staff very friendly and helpful nothing is any trouble . The room was beautiful and everything you would need . An added touch not that we used was an array of crisps and biscuits with an honesty box just incase you were peckish later . We were bed and breakfast 🥞 which we could not fault at all all cooked to perfection and also there was a continental array available also. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a restful stay . Thanks to all the staff .
The only thing I would say is we turned central heating off as rooms are very warm . Not a complaint in any way just a personal preference.

Most staff there went above and beyond with the service. From delivering cocktails to the room, lending us an ironing board, food was excellent. Really impressed.
Slight issue when ordering the special (trout) on the menu. The kitchen had run out of trout and so the waitress gave me plaice instead. There was no mention of this when she brought the dishes out, so it just looked like she hoped we wouldn't notice. The food was excellent and manager apologised, so just a small flaw in otherwise perfect service.
