A beautifu and welcoming place right in the centre of town. Locals often stop into the hotel bar, which has several guitars waiting to be played by anyone who wants to, and a great vibe. If anything isn't right, the staff will fix it. For example the wifi is sometimes spotty -- tell the staff, they'll fix it. And the rooms can get quite hot on hot nights -- ask for a fan, they'll bring one.

Being right on the high street, it has no on-site parking, so if you have a car, make sure you make arrangements in advance.

Where do we start? After a bad experience with a booking the previous evening, we were lucky there was a cancellation at The Silk House. From the moment we pulled up outside the hotel Nicholas was warm and welcoming. Check in was seamless and we had drinks in our hotel room which was clean and comfortable. Before we went for dinner we had drinks in the bar, the owners recommended places to eat and drink and even offered to cook some food if we were unable to find a table as we didn’t have a reservation anywhere. The morning after we were offered complimentary fresh coffee and a friendly chat. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and only wish we had spent the whole weekend there. Thank you again

Beautfiul former merchants' home right in the town centre -- all of Leek is walkable from here. Staff are friendly and chatty, and locals stop by regularly because the pub and beer garden are both great. If you're a guitarist, try one of the three on stands in the pub (they have live music on weekends). Rooms are very comfortable.

I prefer showers over baths, so a shower curtain around the huge, beautiful antique-style clawfoot tub would have been nice.

The bath! Big fan, it was huge. As was the very comfy bed. The bar area was great; lovely decor, stunning stained glass windows, drinks selection and full of character. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We went on a Monday and quite a few of the good restaurants close by are closed on a Monday, for example the 3 italian restaurants that I had my heart set on. But there are plenty of other places we could eat, and I think we could have eaten at the hotel if I had arrived earlier. However it was my fault and absolutely no fault at the Silk House.

The staff were fabulous and friendly. The location in Leek was great & a short walk away from lovely shops and cafes. The garden was a wonderful retreat to chill out in. The roll top bath was a lovely feature in the bathroom - but if you require a shower, this isn't the room for you.

Room temperature - but this was a seasonal/ temporary issue due to the high temperatures in July 2025.

A lovely characterful house in a lovely characterful street in centre of town. Room was large, well equipped, with plenty of wardrobe & cupboard space, & bed was comfy. Hotel itself was quiet, & the host was friendly. Leek came as a real surprise, so much to see & do (not to mention eat & drink!)

Traffic outside hotel (& all round town) is a problem. Maybe some secondary glazing would help for rooms at front. Otherwise, consider asking for room at back, might be nice to overlook the garden.

Lovely period town house hotel situated in the centre of Leek, within easy reach of the main restaurants and public houses. Can recommend the local Wetherspoons “The Green Dragon”. For decent food and a friendly atmosphere with a decent pint to be had. If you like your authentic German or Belgium beers etc I can recommend the Der Engel and the food is exquisite.

Convenient to everything in Leek places to eat and shop . Also many tourist places to visit eg Alton Towers and Peak District. A very good venue for weddings etc or events local It was verynice and Staff a d Owner very helpful and

Gorgeous period building with interior decor to match. Warm welcome from the hosts on arrival and when trying to get to the restaurant we’d booked we couldn’t get a taxi so Nicholas offered to drive us. Incredibly kind and blew us away. Our room was spacious, clean and a gorgeous bathroom. We faced the street but didn’t think it was particularly noisy, just as much as you’d expect and we slept fine. Still offered delicious food & coffee on check out despite not booking breakfast. All in all a lovely stay in a gorgeous hotel!

Handsome room in an atmospheric property with a lot of history and character. Manager very happy to chat and share his knowledge of the area, and love of music! Good value, tasty breakfast.

My room was onto the street, which was a little noisy from traffic but not really that bad
