Whiston Hall was one of the friendliest places we’ve stayed. The staff went above & beyond to welcome us, make us comfortable & check everything was to our liking. Breakfast was spot on, rooms were comfortable & clean. It’s ideally located for Alton Towers, just a short drive on a lovely country road. Dinners at their twin-pub The Star at Cotton were superb. With the same excellent service. Fantastic trip. Highly recommended stay.

As a small hotel with just 9 rooms Whiston Hall feels more like a guest house than hotel. This wasn’t an issue for us but the reception was unattended in evenings & bar closed so if plan ahead if you’re looking to relax in the evenings with a glass of wine. Otherwise it was fantastic.

The hotel is situated in a stunning area, with plenty of scenic views. The hotel it's self, is easy to navigate round, beautiful big yet welcoming and warm environment. The owners Emma and Ryan, couldn't be more helpful, friendly and genuine. Emma has a lovely personality and made my daughter and myself feel welcome and part of the place. Great food, it was beautifully presented and great taste. The bedroom was large, the bed to die for, so comfortable, decorated in neutral colours. The bathroom was large with a choice of a bath or over head powerful shower. There is a huge TV in the room, coffee, tea making facilities.

The only thing was the rain. Nothing else.

Hotel grounds had great views of the local area. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Kaitlan really helped with taxis and other eateries. Breakfast choice was great and well cooked. The room was large and clean. Staff were able to provide an iron and ironing board when requested.

Unfortunately on the first night a chef was unavailable so we needed to go elsewhere for a meal. Hopefully this is resolved now. We were given good advise for other local eateries. The bed in our room seemed like it needed to be replaced, was getting a bit weary, needed to be a more supportive mattress, and maybe larger. Ironing board needs a new thicker cover. A handle in the bath/shower to help us older persons in and out of the said bath.

The location is beautiful, nice and peaceful. Food was wonderful, we ate an evening meal and had breakfast for 2 days. All well cooked and presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A comfy room, big enough for the two of us for 2 nights.

The room we stayed in could do with some maintenance, theres a loose shelf in the bathroom. Ceiling needs dusting, quite a few cobwebs and under the bed needs hoovering. There was no shower, only a handheld one attached to the bath tap and the water pressure wasn't the best either. My son is almost 6 feet tall and combined with the slopped ceiling made it difficult for him to shower properly. The hotel itself needs some tlc, few cobwebs here and there and some maintenance bits and bobs that could do with being addressed.

Gorgeous building with beautiful views! Stayed here after a day at Alton Towers ( 10 mins away ) what a gem of a place. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a nice place close to the park. Even has a 12 hole golf course that looks amazing. The lad on the reception was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble to help. Had the full English breakfast included that was very good, wish I had tried the dinner as the menu looked very good and good price. Family room was spacious and really comfortable, no noise at all.

Liked everything

The staff were amazing along with the views and service. They went out of their way to help with regards to me being a wheelchair user and the room was lovely. It really is a lovely place to go and stay and I would recommend it.

It's not that I didn't like it was just unfortunate that although they though they were wheelchair friendly they did everything they could to help me but the bathroom was not accessible in the slightest there was no frame or other to help on and off the toilet and the shower is inside the bath so was inaccessible.

The hotel was in a beautiful location, the view was great from the bar/restaurant area.. The staff we spoke to were great and we were checked in and served by Jack. who was very friendly, welcoming and did a great job throughout our stay. The food was delicious and great sized portions and very good value for money. Would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area or visiting Alton towers like we did.

We stayed on the ground floor and the floor boards were very creaky from the room upstairs, the bed wasn't overly comfortable and very squeaky.

Very freindly and helpful staff with excellent facilities, the restaurant spacious and pleasant, the food was superb, the ground floor room (#5) clean, spacious and presentable

Hotel specific reception access was unclear at night from the guest carpark (dark and unlit before you entered) The room had power sockets inconveniently placed for charging, the bathroom sink was cracked and the shower was stand-in-bath basic, The resteraunt food was top quality which was reflected in the price

Beautiful room and gorgeous surroundings! Ideally placed for our trip to Splash Landings. Breakfast was scrummy and the staff were absolutely fantastic 😊 So welcoming especially the first lady that greeted us - such a lovely manner and smile. I would absolutely return and recommend!!

The only thing I was surprised about (especially given as clean and homely everything else was) the coffee mugs in my room had not been cleaned - they appeared to be swished around with water and placed back. There was still coffee from the previous guest left inside. I believe this was not the norm as everything else was perfect - just mentioning so the staff can be extra vigilant in future. I'd forgotten about it until now as I don't have hot drinks so it wasn't a major concern to me.

On arrival, we were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. There was a very cosy, comfortable feel about the place. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable with complimentary toiletries, which were a lovely touch. The bar was well stocked with a wide variety of drinks and cocktails. The breakfast was lovely, arrived hot, well presented, and a real good quality of produce. Overall, it's a really lovely atmosphere and a really relaxed stay. We would highly recommend it.
