I had a wonderful stay at The Lilacs. The room was beautifully situated facing the garden, and the view was tranquil, idyllic, and very relaxing. The bathroom was spotless and spacious, adding to the overall comfort. Tina, the host, was exceptionally helpful, offering great local advice and serving a delicious breakfast each morning. If you are looking for a genuine British B&B experience, I highly recommend The Lilacs. It is the perfect place to stay.

Tina was very welcoming and made such an effort at breakfast time. The room we stayed in was warm, comfortable and had its own en suite. You can tell that Tina takes great pride in her B&B. We had a very quick stop over as we were visiting Alton Towers......The Lilacs is just 15 minutes or so from the park so was ideal for us.

There was a bit of traffic noise as the house is right on a main road, however it wouldn't stop me from visiting again.

We enjoyed the outstanding full English breakfast, the peaceful area, and the friendliness of the owner. We enjoyed the breakfast.table and tidy room.

In our room the bathroom door would not close properly, the door handle needs replacing and more importantly there should be a sign to WATCH YOUR HEAD on the stairs as I banged my head on the sloping ceiling of the attic roof. I think if the owner was more responsible regarding the repairs our stay would have been excellent. I did not like the TV on in the breakfast room.. Our bedroom was a little on the small side.

Tina the host was very accommodating particularly as it is her own home and we had a 1 year old who wanted to explore everything The first night we stayed there was very wet and poor weather conditions and she allowed us to have a takeaway in her dining room I was grateful of the honesty and was informed immediately on arrival that the the shower didn't work in our room however as we were there for 2 nights she was accommodating to let us use another guest room shower before the next guests arrived and there was a functional bath so we were able to wash our child and have a basic wash ourselves. This shows she truly cares about her guests. The breakfast was sensational Location ideal for what we needed It's so nice to feel very welcome when you are not aware of the area or surroundings

The location of the Lilacs was just right to give access to the Peak District and the popular towns in the vicinity. The room was very pleasant and the bathroom was very roomy. The breakfasts were excellent and gave you a good start for the day. Car parking at the Lilacs was good, albeit you had to take care getting out out onto the main road. Local eateries were so handy you didn't need to go into the nearest town (Ashbourne) to find good food, although there were probably good restaurants/pubs to frequent if you so wish.

The staircase was a little hazardous but once you got use to it, it was fine. Some general maintenance wouldn't come amiss, for instance a number of light fittings were not working.

Just returned this morning, 29th oct 2025, a lovely lady who owned the b&b beautiful room. we had the front bedroom really clean & comfortable & a wonderful comfy bed, great selection for breakfast & very tasty.

There is nothing to complain about

The room was very comfortable with a large en suite bathroom. Tina is a lovely lady and always up for a chat. Good breakfast choices. The full English was very tasty 😋😋

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

On arrival at the property, the welcome was very pleasant with information about the facilities and local attractions nearby. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of tea and coffee available in the room, and the breakfast was great.

Room tea making facilities was perfect, the packed lunch went down really well, the large bathroom and good shower was great, and the breakfast was top notch.

Leaving the hotel is quite difficult as it's on a busy road with poor vision

Lovely atmosphere in the b&b very friendly host and nothing too much trouble , full English breakfast was a great start to the day , would definitely recommend and would stay again.
