The Hotel was located in the centre of the Town and was close to local Bars and Shops.

The room was priced at £75 per night based on 1 Adult and a Free Child Stay,the room was in desperate need of a lick of paint and the Toilet could be doing with some TLC to address the major Damp patches under the sink. The Food Menu was very limited especially for the prices of the Stuff that was actually on it,if your happy with Soup,Meatballs or Garlic Mushrooms as Starter options then you'll be fine,Drink selection was good and the Staff seemed very nice but for £75 a night with no Breakfast included I'm sure there are better deals around. (This Hotel is NOT 7 Miles from Alton Towers its 12)

So the room was clean, if dated, however we had everything we needed, a clean bed, tea & coffee, the shower could have done with being a bit warmer, but apart from that the room was ok. The staff went out of their way to accomodate, very friendly and helpful and the bar manager Sarah was a diamond! We will defitintely stay again at some point in the future. Very good food!

Shower could have been warmer, but apart from that I cannot fault the George and Dragon.

Pub located in the centre of Ashbourne. An old, historic pub with lots of atmosphere. Because of its age, the room was very "individual" but it had a comfortable bed and a good shower room. For the centre of a town, it was very quiet at night. The dinners served were superb. The best lamb shank I have ever had and lots of well cooked vegetables. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Parking was in the square in front of the pub and we had to pay £1 between 18.00 and 8.00am. So, had to be up at 8.00 am to feed the meter. It was a tiny niggle and not a big deal. We used the early start to get away to our next destination.

Comfy bed, ok room. But very noisy due to the traffic. Lorries thundering pass at 4:30/5. Only quiet day was Sunday .

The busyness. The A515 was the main road through Ashbourne so got woken up at 4:30 in the morning from them. We had issues in the pub with food as we had a bug party of 27 in the evening and the food kept coming out cold. A few people got up and left.

The food was exceptional. Good quality, Large portions. The lasagne in the photos was a requested half portion The staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble.

The price was room only (not breakfast) so thought the price a little expensive. The rooms need upgrading. They look shabby but they are clean.

Great location, friendly staff, and a comfy bed. What more do you need? Was surprised just how comfortable the room was considering how affordable the stay was. Great place to base yourself to visit Ashbourne and surrounding area. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay.

You are staying above a pub so there will be noises associated with that.

Lovely period building. I especially liked the sloping floors and creaking floorboards, adds to the experience of staying in an old pub. The landlady was very nice and the room was clean,warm and comfortable. It's in an excellent location right on the market Square in the centre of town. They also do a very good pint of Pedigree, so I'd definitely recommend a visit.

The only negative I'd say is breakfast isn't available, especially when they do food. It's understandable though, with there only being 5 rooms. There are lots of cafes close by so it's not a problem. We found a great breakfast across the street.

Great location. Staff could not help enough and the food was amazing.

A few tweaks needed to the room to make it 10/10 but only a few things if I’m being super picky. Had to move kettle to the plug and not easy to get to the plugs to charge phone overnight. Needed a bin in the room rather than having to keep going into the bathroom. But I’m being super picky.

Love Ashbourne, good place to start exploring. G&D extremely dog friendly. Comfortable rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food is excellent in the G&D. Plenty of cafes for breakfast so not a problem.

Room is basic and could require a few more extras... but comfortable....

Lovely friendly staff here and totally dog friendly. Ashbourne was an excellent base for a couple of days in the Derbyshire Dales. I really liked the food in the pub too. Thank you for such a warm welcome!
