Wonderful little place with amazing hosts who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was really lovely and very plentiful. Very close to Alton Towers which is where we were headed. Definitely recommend.

On booking.com the format made me think it was a 2 bedroom property, which it isn't, it's one bedroom. This is absolutely no fault of the hosts and the property ended up being fine for us as my daughter and I slept on the sofa bed in the lounge. It wasn't hugely comfortable and quite squeaky, so best for one person rather than two on the sofa bed I would say. But to reiterate, this is a Booking.com issue and a "me" issue.

Peaceful. After a long day, and journey this was a perfect haven before a busy days work. Very comfortable and welcoming too. My room was immaculate and had everything I needed including a fridge with cold water and fresh milk for tea. And a very quiet fan all really great touches and appreciated on a warm summers evening. Not only were all the facilities in the room brilliant but the setting is very lovely, pretty garden and stunning views from the little terrace outside my window. And my host could not have been more welcoming or helpful.

Nothing it was a really lovely stay

We stayed at Dove Meadows with our two little children whilst stopping to visit CBeebies Land and explore the Peaks. John and his wife were more than accommodating and treated us like royalty throughout our stay with a beautiful freshly cooked breakfast in the morning. Our cabin was exceptionally clean and cosy. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were of a high standard with lots of thought put in. With stunning views and close to many natural beauty spots. Dove Meadows exceeded our expectations and we would most definitely stay here again! Highly recommended!

Beautiful cabin with stunning views and everything we needed. Well presented and lots of nice extra touches that most places don’t think of. Great full English brought to us in the morning (at the time of our choosing!) and the kids LOVED Johns amazing pancakes. Hosts were absolutely incredible-so helpful about local information/places of interest. They were super friendly and went above and beyond in making sure our stay was perfect. We normally stay on site at the Alton Towers hotel but will be booking here from now on as it’s much better value, more personal and sooo quiet. Thank you for such a wonderful weekend. We can’t wait to stay for longer next time!

There was nothing we didn’t like

Haha, just about everything. My wife and I always say "you win some, you lose some" when it comes to booking accommodation but I think this will be her best ever. Plan was to go to Alton Towers, looked at accommodation there and looked good but obviously more expensive. Got a great price for about 10 mins away in car - excellent. Was easy to find, you basically follow satnav anyway but John sent extra descriptive directions as well. We booked the family chalet next to the house, double bed and double fold-out in lounge. Facilities were great, clean, towels, linen etc. perfect. Wee kitchen with microwave, 2 ring hob, dishes etc, kettle and the usual but most importantly a fridge! John and Em were absolutely amazing hosts... really cannot fault them. 10/10. Breakfast was great too, great choice, great fresh coffee and amazing pancakes! We kept asking for more and I think drained their maple syrup lol.

Really can't think of anything which is a first! Only think I thought was the bed mattress was a bit firm... but that's personal preference.

The property was a great location for Alton towers and peaceful location. The homeowners were lovely, welcoming and made us a lovely home cooked breakfast, fresh coffee and the kids had American pancakes with Nutella and strawberries. The property was clean and fresh towels and dishcloths ect daily. There was lots of family games and colouring for us to do. As it was very hot week and thankfully there were fans Available. Good facilities with hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, TV in each room.

We had a lovely stay but didn’t realise the property was on somebody else’s home in their garden. They were lovely and made us feel welcome. However they had a family party on one of the days of our stay and didn’t feel comfortable going back earlier incase we intruded. I’m sure if we did go back it wouldn’t have been a problem.

Gorgeous and perfect location if going to Alton Towers or any other local attractions. We stayed in the little side lodge part so it was nice and quiet. Breakfast was included and tasty especially the freshly made, giant thick pancakes! The owners were lovely to talk to and very helpful. Would definitely stay again if in the area another time 😊

Tiniest little quib would be some unisex shower gel as it was a bit manly smelling for my liking and add in some shampoo and conditioner but they are just little things

Dove cottage is like a cute gingerbread house. A home from home. Em and John are amazing. Making you feel like part of the family. Dropping off at Alton towers and Ashbourne when I didn't know where to go. Offering to buy me food when I was tierd. Even giving me a sandwich to go on my leaving day. Even after breekie. Poppy, Dave and Jack are the familys fur babys. They are so cute coming to say hello every morning too. Lovely exceptional stay thank you so much🥰

That it was had to get about if you don't drive.

We arrived to Dove Meadow a little later than expected because of train delays. Even before this the host had contacted us to confirm arrival time and if we were wanting breakfast in the morning. Alongside recommending a taxi company to collect us from the station. Staying in the chalet was incredible and super quiet. It has all of the amenities you could want and I can see how a family could spend a few days there. The entire property felt cosy, private and welcoming. It was also quite fun to hear sheep in the morning after traveling in from the city. The breakfast was outstanding, it was clear that all of the items were locally sourced and the host cooked them brilliantly. The additional service which was provided was great and the host went above and beyond to make our trip special. We would stay again for a short break.

We all really enjoyed everything. Hospitable reception, very warm hosts. The guest house is very clean, everything is neat and tidy and smelled nice. Board games, coloring books, TV with Netflix were available for the children. And even made friends with Puppy, a very cool and friendly dog. On the way home, the daughter said that she misses her. The breakfast served was very tasty, everything was fresh and well prepared, pancakes with Nutella and fresh strawberries for the children, orange juice, English breakfast with black coffee for us.
