Karen was friendly and welcoming. The guided tour inc the self supporting spiral staircase and the iron safe was very interesting. Having chosen to stay in an old building the uneven floors and odd room layouts was fully expected. The hotel car park was good and the location in the heart of the town was ideal for shops, the many pubs including a spoonies 2mins walk away and 3x chippies.! Evening meals were not available when we visited but there are more than enough eateries within a 3 min stroll. Breakfast is offered.

Not so much didn't like, after all with the address of Church Street it could have been expected but the clock tower tells you every 1/4 hr the time in an audible fashion all through the night.. but with Spoonies medication, it's wasn't t a problem for me.

We loved the quirky nature of the old building. The interior and exterior made the building feel very comfortable. The paintings and deco throughout were very interesting. The cooked breakfast was of a good quality and plentiful. Staff were friendly and attentive. Uttoxeter is a charming little Staffordshire town, well worth a visit.

Not a major issue but the bathroom looked onto a main road but only had a net curtain for privacy. Again, this didn't bother me too much, but a blind or full curtain would have been preferred.

Rooms and staff excellent.

Having rang the hotel asking if breakfast was available. I was told it was and I would be able to order when checking in, I was disappointed to learn in fact, breakfast was not to be served on a Monday.

Lovely old characterful Georgian building right in the centre of town. Clean and comfortable, if a little shabby. The breakfast was very good.

A bit surprised that the only room available to me (as a lone traveller) was a big suite with a four-poster, which made the stay a little more expensive.

Beautiful historic building. Really friendly staff. room looked gorgeous. They left me a bunch of flowers and a card as it was our aniversary, which was such a lovely touch.

Bed squeaked like a duck quacking every time you turned over. Wifi was pretty much non existent. By the time we went to breakfast which we paid for separately there was no juice left and we were only offered one small cup of coffee. Lack of plug sockets in room meant bedside lamp was redundant in its position.

Rooms basic, but they work, the stand out thing for this place is the amazing staff. Did not have breakfast but felt it was overpriced as there is a Weatherspoon around the corner and we had 2 meals with a drink for same price. Lovely bars in area. The building is amazing very atmospheric and full of history, would stay again. There is an Asda nearby and an excellent Chinese.

Price of the breakfast £12 per person cheaper at Weatherspoons by half. Also need to take an extension if you take along your laptops. I do not know what else to say all of it was really good to be fair. The car park was difficult to get into despite there being plenty of room, perhaps move the bin?

They went out they way to get Gluten Free Bread. If you need a taxi get them to book your taxi. Very friendly staff. They allowed you to get food from outside, you can then eat it in the bar and then they clean up after you. They look after your luggage. They take it to your room which is upstairs. When you are leaving they will take your suitcase downstairs. I had a lovely bath.

The stairs were so deep. The shower head was so high up. The bath could be deeper and longer.

Old character , needs a little tlc but was a very Nice place with huge potential, would stay again

Chairs in hall way could be moved, bit of a fire hazard little bit too much furniture around the chill bar area , other than that very pleasant stay I’m 6’7” and the bed had a metal base on it So couldn’t stretch need divans , still great place

Staff were absolutely wonderful. Made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was very yummy! Well done to amazing staff. Very quirky building. Obviously with it being a very old, listed building it has amazing features and is far from modern; if you're after decorated perfection with no originality then look elsewhere!

Staff were excellent - Will was really friendly and helpful! Great value for money and a good location as we were heading out to Alton Towers the next day. Property has quite a bit of history too!

It was great value for money, which means it's a bit tired in places. But don't let that put you off. If you are after a good night's sleep, good location and friendly staff, and don't mind that it's a bit frayed around the edges, I would recommend.
