The 2 ladies that run the hotel were delightful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptional. The room was comfy but a little bit small. It did the job though. The shower was scary, too powerful for the size of the shower. Took my breath away as couldn’t get away from the shower head. The first breakfast was delightful, toast was brought over without even asking. Very tasty, good quality food. The second days breakfast still excellent quality however the man serving wasn’t as good as the lady the previous day. We had to ask for the toast and he wasn’t attentive, didn’t ask if everything was ok etc. this is the only reason we’ve marked down by 1 point.

I booked an overnight stay for my husband's 60th birthday. I also booked a surprise afternoon tea with our grown-up children. They arranged for housekeeping to service our room early so that we could freshen up and the children could be seated when we came down. The husband had a little extra cake with a candle and a lovely greetings card from the Kedleston Country House team. A nice touch. Afternoon tea for 7 including 1 vegetarian was beautiful. Warm sausage rolls (cheese for the veggie) warm scotch eggs (meat free one for the veggie) , quiche, a selection of delicious sandwiches and cakes. There was so much food that some was packed into boxes to take home. Our room was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. I treated my husband to some Radox so he could have a soak in the bathtub as we only have a shower at home - he loved it. We booked dinner at 8. He had chicken and leek pie with mash, savoy cabbage, and peas. I had chicken with a mango and blue cheese salad. Delicious 😋 Treacle tart and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Breakfast was quite possibly the best we've had in 20 years of B&Bs. 2 delicious sausages, 2 bacon, 2 poached eggs, cherry tomatoes- I can't tell you how fabulous they were - portobello mushroom, beans, fried bread and black pudding that was soooo good 😋 it was the best black pudding I've had. The husband doesn't like black pudding, so I had to eat his. Oh, the things I do for love! 😍 I would not hesitate to recommend this place if you want to be spoiled and/or spoil a loved one. All of the staff that we met were friendly, attentive and professional.

Smooth, friendly check-in. Lovely clean room with everything we could possibly need. Decorated to a high standard. Large bathroom with roll-top bath & a large shower. Nice fluffy towels, robes & toiletries provided. Bed was super comfy, and it was very quiet. Breakfast was excellant. Good choice on the menu. We both opted for the full English and couldn't fault it. Perfect poached eggs and the coffee was good. Superb place to stay, would definately stay here again without a doubt. Great value for money.
No food option available unless it's dinner or breakfast. Bar snacks only consisted of crisps. Barman did provide a bowl of chips cooked by the chef ( much appreciated), so not sure why other light options such as sandwiches or pizza were not on offer. Bar closes very early if it's quiet so no option to have a nightcap One other minor point. We arrived back from our evening out in a taxi and the entrance to the hotel is not lit up at all so very difficult for the driver to find the entrance.

Nice building, with attractive communal areas. Rooms very attractive and bathrooms good - powerful shower. We had dinner in the restaurant which was really nice and good value. Bar staff good and we had a great Kedleston G&T. Lovely breakfast - cooked to order. Staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly.
The earliest breakfast was not until 8.30am,which is a bit late if there for business. This was compounded by snow issues which mean it was even later, but appreciate this was not a normall situation. I had a housekeeping issue, but it was dealt with promptly when mentioned.

I had a fantastic stay at this charming bed and breakfast! The rooms were incredibly spacious with beautiful high ceilings that made everything feel so open and airy. The countryside location was peaceful and picturesque—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The breakfast each morning was absolutely excellent, with fresh, delicious options that really set the day off right. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. I highly recommend this place and would love to return!

Huge room with a very comfortable bed in a quiet location with plenty of parking. The room also had a separate section with a second bed making it easy to share with another person. The breakfast was really tasty - top quality sausages and bacon (not the cheap supermarket stuff) which were fabulous. N.B. there isn't a buffet, so you have a choice of one item from the menu - I would recommend the full English breakfast option!
I would have liked a cappuccino but they only offer filter coffee (but that was still nice coffee). In the evening, I arrived late (around 8pm) and because the hotel had very few guests that night, the chef had wrapped up, however he did make me a very nice salad.

Beautiful looking property, grand but not imposing. Immaculate - beautiful interior throughout. Great parking at the rear of the property. The lady on reception was warm and welcoming - very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Our room was beyond my expectations - thoughtful touches I appreciated very much. Breakfast was exceptional! I can’t wait to come back for another stay here.
There was nothing I didn’t like about the property, therefore I wouldn’t hesitate to return as a guest or recommend.

Extremely warm feel about the house as well as lovely welcoming staff. Definitely has a lovely homely feel. Beautifully quiet location and the perfect spot for a relaxing night away with my husband away from the hustle and bustle. Bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in away from home, and have definitely recharged the batteries. Breakfast was spectacular - locally sourced and cooked to a really good standard. Will be recommending and certainly hope to stay here again. Thank you Helen and family.
Absolutely nothing.

Beautifully maintained property, stunning location. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable with a beautiful bathroom, fluffy robes and plentiful hot water. Lovely toiletries provided, too! Breakfast was delicious, with a great selection. I’d also like to mention, the staff were setting up for a wedding on the day of our departure but you would never have known. They were all so calm and organised. There wasn’t a hint of panic. If you are planning on hosting your wedding here, you can rest assured you will be in very safe, calm and capable hands.
Absolutely nothing not to like!

This is a beautiful boutique hotel with a small number of exquisite bedrooms that have been updated while maintaining the historical feel of the house. The room included a small fridge which exceeded my expectations and made my stay even more pleasant. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. I had breakfast and dinner there and the food was really good. There are multiple cosy lounges to relax in before and after dinner, including a bar area. It really felt like a home from home. The hotel also benefits from a large car park and is located on a quieter country road, with beautiful open views just outside Derby. I will definitely be back.
All rooms are on the first floor, up a wide staircase, so it may difficult to stay there if you are disabled or struggle up the stairs. I was also a bit concerned on departure as the owners' lovely two young boys were playing with bikes on the car park and were not particularly careful of cars and vans arriving and leaving. The younger one actually rode his bike at me as I was reversing.
