It was a gathering of 8 ladies from different parts of the country who meet up every year in a different location. Some ladies were attending a special function in Derby on the Saturday so the location was not only easy for those travelling from afar but also close to Derby. Our thanks go to all the staff who were on duty during the w/e. They were all very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful, particularly Angela, Jane, the breakfast staff and a lady who sorted out the safe in my room which wouldn't unlock!! There was an excellent choice of cooked breakfast, all cooked to order, cereals, juice yogurt and fruit, with plenty of tea and coffee. When visiting the hotel to view the rooms Angela was very helpful in suggesting a way that we could all be in the Stables. The rooms, newly refurbished last year, were extremely comfortable and 2 had a lovely view over the countryside. 3 ladies enjoyed visits to local tourist attractions.

The phone didn't work in room 25 but staff said they would report it to Maintenance. 2 ladies in room 26 said they were cold, despite trying to increase the thermostat. Unfortunately they did not like the proximity to the Airport.

The area. Beautiful room and hotel. Lovely grounds. Attentive staff. Comfiest bed, ever! Breakfast and wedding meal superb. I would recommend anyone to stay here, it's such a wonderful place.

Considering the overall size of room 5, the shower was not in keeping. The entrance to the shower is very small and does need to be reconfigured. Also, we prefer a soft closing toilet seat and a plug that works in the sink!! We would have given the score of 10 if it had not been for these minor issues!

We were visiting for the racing at Donington so the location was absolutely ideal as the track is just a short walk away. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building. We ate breakfast there on both mornings and it was beautifully cooked. We stayed in converted stables adjacent to the hotel and I can honestly say it was outstanding. You went up a flight of stairs to your room. It had the feel of an apartment as there was a small corridor connecting the bathroom and bedroom and dual aspect views from the bedroom/sitting area. It was so spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfortable.

Stayed here for a wedding. Stayed the night before and the night of and it was just lovely! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. It’s such a gorgeous countryside hotel and the food is amazing! Our room was so lovely with wooden beams on the roof just further adding to the rustic barn look.

Our room was located in one of the outbuildings and the only way we could access it was up a steel spiral staircase (like a fire escape stairs). Wasn’t too much of an issue but was a bit nervy getting up and down.

Hotel was really clean with beautifully decorated rooms. Beds were comfortable and rooms had everything you needed for an overnight stay.

We didn’t read that the property is on the direct flight path to East Midlands airport and aircraft noise is quite loud at times. The shower in our room was very weak.

Location good, bedrooms great with comfy beds, staff very friendly, and there is a table in the bar area that looks out over the hills which was great for an evening beer. Wifi good. There are two EV (Tesla) chargers on site.

Under the East Midlands flight path but actually not a massive issue.

Nice location but not told until we were an hour from destination that there was a planned service of Aga , meaning no dinner available on the day of our stay . Wouldn’t have booked if we had known !!!!

Toilet not attached to floor fundamental ! Small thing but important …..no brandy glasses …..brandy served in a cast glass garage freebie quality glass .

Lovely and interesting location. Great countryside view from our room. Feeling of space in the room, the rest of the hotel and the grounds. Lovely staff and a great feel to the place.

The only downside (and it is obvious from the location at time of booking) is that the hotel is under the flight path of the airport so there is jet noise. There is also noise from the racetrack and the road outside, but all these are to be expected.

Breakfast and location excellent could not fault it. The location was good for myself as my Grandson was racing, I could walk into the track.

The stay could not have been any better.

For my trip, perfect location, opposite the race circuit. Breakfast was tasty as was the coffee. Room was a lovely surprise, lounge area, 2 tvs, fantastic walk shower, air con. Wish I’d stayed longer.
