Just generally spectacular. We stayed for a birthday getaway. From the outset we were offered 5* service. The room was gorgeous, a blend of traditional yet timeless. The evening meal and accompanying wine was top draw, beautiful seasonal options and a drinks selection you could study for hours. Breakfast was equally sumptuous, we even managed to sneak a morning coffee on the lovely terrace.
I wound say didn’t like rather improve. While we knew what we could expect at the spa for a hotel of this splendour and target market some investment in the wellbeing facilities would benefit them massively. I used the sauna which was spacious and all pre booked. However on leaving it after 30 minutes there was little else to do. I’m not a gym person so instead I changed and sat for 30 minutes while my wife finished her treatment. A hot tub, steam room or plunge pool to compliment the sauna would be a great addition.

My mum and I spent three days at Callow Hall in June and had such a wonderful time we booked another three days! The service is exceptional, we were made to feel like VIPs throughout our stay. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, it's the perfect retreat to get away from it all. And we absolutely love the breakfasts!
Neither my mum nor I liked the evening meal menu. Over our two stays we tried a variety of dishes but didn't like the majority. We know that other guests were very impressed with the food so it's just down to individual taste, it's just not for us. We also found the meals to be very expensive especially when you have to pay extra for your accompanying vegetables, potatoes etc. And then you have to add on the 10% service charge which is on everything, even if you just order a couple of drinks at the bar. So it becomes very costly.

We stopped at this beautiful hotel on our way to Liverpool and are so happy we chose to stay. We stayed in the main house and our room was immaculate. The spaces are all thoughtfully decorated and very spacious and comfortable. The property is within walking distance of the town of Ashbourne and there are plenty of walks around the area. You can also drive to other trails/historic sights in the Peak District easily from here. There is a sauna/gym at the property and you can rent bikes for free as well. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Overall, a very relaxing stay with plenty of walking and we enjoyed having drinks and playing games by the fire in the evening. A real treat to stay here.
If there was one improvement I could recommend it would be the food which was nice but overpriced for what it was.

What a fabulous hotel! We LOVED our stay here and it was made even more special by the exceptional staff, who behaved as if the hotel were family run and they were all members of the family. I don’t recall ever receiving such consistently good service by delightful staff who all had time to converse. Thank you to each one of you. We were travelling with my aged parents in their 90’s who had an exceptional room with accessible facilities. The staff were particularly attentive to my parents, which made their stay so memorable. Loved the interior decor too.
I hesitate to write anything negative but hope that this will be helpful to the hotel and other travellers. We had a room at the back of the property and due to the heat the windows were open so we were very aware of the noise from a boiler or extractor fan from the kitchen, and kitchen noise and smells. We could have asked for a change of room, which I’m sure would have been accommodated, but decided against it as we weren’t in the room a lot.

The location, the decor, the building. Stunning. The massage was lovely and very relaxing.
We stayed in a hive. Lots of dust under the bed, light to the cupboard with coffee/tea facilities didn’t work. No toilet roll on the toilet roll holder. Staff need further training, had to ask for things. Never asked how everything was, main course was sent back as the meat was tough, don’t handle this very well, and both main courses were left on the bill. Egg at breakfast was over cooked, staff didn’t know how to deal with it, the breakfast table was missing condiments, despite the fact we were told to move to the table as it was already made up. This place is stunning but unfortunately lets its self down with service and attention to detail. For what it costs to stay here I expected everything to be perfect, but unfortunately it wasn’t!

Hotel is beautiful, set in the Derbyshire countryside and is very well kept. The grounds and all areas of the hotel were immaculate. We stayed in a chalet and it was tucked away in the trees which was lovely. A porter service helped us with our bags and nothing was too much trouble. The room itself was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Great location! We took advantage of the free bike hire and cycled to a nearby pub along tissington trail. Ask for one of the team to set up a fire pit for you outside the restaurant. This was one of our favourite parts of the stay as we were given marshmallows to toast and ordered hot chocolate. Would definitely recommend this! Overall a really lovely stay and would return.
Was disappointed that breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate given how expensive it is. We decided to have breakfast delivered to our chalet to make the most of our time there which was lovely but an additional cost. Would have been nice to have some more comfortable seating on the decking of our treehouse and perhaps a patio heater. We didn’t spend time out there as only had metal bistro style seating. The photos of the chalet showed different seating so this was a bit disappointing.

Lovely breakfast, perhaps a bit pricey because it's all itemised. Really like the dining area and the sense that it's quite informal. Love the scent in the building ! Also enjoy the sun loungers and great bikes, appreciate them being included in the price. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
This was our third stay and last year we also went for dinner whilst in the area. We have always really enjoyed the food and the variety of the menu. This time we were slightly less impressed with the fish main courses that were either very salty or not as tasty as on previous occasions. The non meat starters were not that many and sadly also less impressive.

Lovely setting, great dining room, good food, fab staff.
Insufficient power points in bedroom, had to unplug coffee station to use hairdryer for which there was no mirror in the room. Second room I booked had no hairdryer . TV would not turn off except by switch on wall hidden in tangle of wires, had to call reception to help. Please do something about the bombardment of emails (several per day) before arrival constantly asking us to book dinner although we had already done so, plus advance check in. It's very unsettling, but in mitigation your staff were exemplary when I phoned to sort these out.

We highly recommend this hotel, the facilities were outstanding and the dining was exquisite. We were able to check in earlier than expected and greeted with snacks and a variety of teas upon arrival, room was cosy and very clean. With a fireplace! I will definitely be coming back to this hotel and would love to experience in the summer, and possibly the cabins. Milk and water is provided and toiletries.
During nighttime, the radiators were quite loud which would occasionally wake us up in the night, the water wasn’t restocked until the morning, but was brought to my room when I asked a staff member. No toothpaste.

We enjoyed our stay at Wildhive Callow Hall. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, and it is conveniently located if you want to visit the Peak District by car. The room was lovely and well-appointed. The bathroom was quite small, but the shower was fantastic! The property is lovely, with bike and walking trails. We had dinner at the restaurant on our first night, and would definitely recommend it (if it's on the menu, definitely save some space for their wild strawberry gelato!).
We stayed in the main building, and although our room was lovely and overlooked the woodland area behind the hotel, there were lots of stairs to climb before we got there which may be troublesome for less mobile or older travellers. Our room was also located right at the back of the Hall, directly adjacent to the service staircase and above the service area, so there was a lot of noise coming from both as the staff moved up and down the staircase and worked behind the building. No problems with this at all during the day, but at night it was a bit bothersome.
