The grounds are lovely, they have a quirky vibe and I found it incredibly relaxing, the birds are beautiful! It was so cool to be able to get within a foot or so of peacocks to take photos, and follow one around taking a video! The staff were fantastic, there were a couple of minor issues with the room that were taken care of as soon as humanly possible, the gentleman who helped (I believe to be the proprietor?) was really helpful and very friendly. Would happily stay again, perhaps in a lodge next time, as they look great too!

The ponds were a little mucky, but coincidentally there was a news report about a lake in Newquay being the same one of the evenings - algae seems to be difficult this year, so I really don’t think that’s on them.

Wow! We always self cater when we go away so have experienced many properties over the years and have generally been pretty lucky. However I feel we really lucked out this time - we stayed in one of the lodges and ours was one of the newest ones and looked like we were the first visitors as it was so stunning. Just a few of the great points about the property and surroundings: - very well equipped kitchen including dishwasher and washing machine and even washing liquid, dishwashing tablets, etc - The beds were better than ours at home and so comfortable - Plug sockets both sides of the bed! - Beautiful balcony and table and chairs outside with fabulous surroundings including visiting peacocks - Tv with streaming services - Proper bath mats as opposed to the towels you usually get in hotels! - Decent sized mugs and cereal bowls - Loads of storage space - easy access to the hotel including the bar and restaurant - friendly staff and owner who we chatted to a couple of times

Really minor things but the water pressure is a little weak so shower could be better and there was no caddy or shelf in the shower for bottles etc…- again such minor points!

We really liked the lodge we stayed in “Oak Lodge”. It’s close to local areas of interest and perfect for the family. There is a local Morrisons, which we got food to cook as all plates, bowls, glasses, saucepans are provided. We also loved that board games were provided and we had a lovely evening playing them. Was great to get the kids off their phones! Also, a lot of peacocks. The kids loved seeing them. We wished we had booked more nights here and will definitely be returning. This is a great gem of a find.

There really isn’t anything to not like about the lodge. I would say be very careful on the drive in, as there are a few pot holes and the drive itself is only wide enough for 1 car. We got caught a few times by cars coming the opposite direction.

Located in the countryside with amazing views and beautiful gardens with ponds and lots of animals and wildlife in and around the grounds like peacocks etc . The room was perfect and very spacious in this old cottage hotel which has been renovated to a high standard. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Parking is on a very steep sideways slope and can be crowded but it is on a hillside and was a bank holiday.

We stayed in a Lodge which was absolutely beautiful. 2 rooms 2 bathrooms to high standard. It had everything you needed with additional welcome tea coffee milk and board games. Smart TV and Wine Cooler great. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely to see the Peacocks and other birds. Beautiful Location and easy reach to towns, fuel stations. Our son loved the Mustangs in the car park. We wish we could of stayed longer. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

There were no dislikes

The lodge was pretty much new; I doubt many had stayed there ahead of us, so we really did have the best of the best. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped and a lot better than expected, although there is a price to pay for that. As it is linked to the Manor, the bar is open and serves up a nice beer (including hand-drawn Tribute) in convivial surroundings.

The peacocks need silencers fitted. They are a pain the ass and woke me up every morning. But they are also a nice addition to the place in a way.....

The location was an excellent base from which to attend a wedding locally. The lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was superb. A great selection for the continental and cooked options.

Sadly, the water pressure in the showers was low and disrupted by other water use in the lodge. Also there was no soap provided in the bathroom/ensuite shower. This would have been a welcome addition.

We loved Badgers retreat! We stayed 2 nights over the back holiday and it exceeded our expectations. 2 beautiful double bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities, full kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine - everything was brand new and lovely

The owner shared a couple of issues with us before we checked in (snagging really as the lodge is brand new). This was appreciated

Our bedroom was a good size on the first floor, very comfortable. The restaurant service and food were very good. We had dinner there each night and the breakfasts were freshly cooked to order

Water pressure on the shower was rather low. The window in our room didn't really have any outlook which was a function of the original age of the property - that is not to say that the property was tired, in fact it had been recently been rebuilt after a serious fire and all the internal finishes were very smart.

Oak Lodge was just like a home from home. Has to be one of the best lodges we’ve stayed in. Very spacious, with comfy beds. And the extra bathroom was very handy as you don’t normally get that with a 2 bedroom property.

If we had to be picky, the driveway entrance in and out of the park could do with some attention as there are some major potholes
