Room/suite was gorgeous, really comfy bed and I'm very fussy. Lush toiletries, nice to get such top end ones. Shower was "a religious experience " acc to my husband! First night was end of that really hot Monday so we were glad of fan and windows that opened. Loved that it is a dog friendly hotel with treats for dogs. Very nice staff, good service at dinner and breakfast. Dyson hairdryer in my room was epic, might treat myself to one. Nice to get towelling robes provided and fresh milk on demand. Ceiling had long dust strand hanging down, wafting in breeze for three days. Fruit juice at breakfast tasted like watered down concentrate. I asked for slightly crisp bacon on last day but it was nuked..tasted good but tough. Noisy extractor fan.

Great location on the main street in Malton. The staff were amazing, they met if not exceeded every one of our requests. The free electric car charger was a huge perk, and the staff were very helpful letting us know when it was available. Also, the staff at the bar were very chatty and made delicious cocktails.

The bedroom was quite warm on two of the evenings, it wasn't the easiest to open the windows to let in cool air. Also, there was a mark on one of the carpets on the second floor hallway, I suspect this was a result of being such a dog friendly hotel.

The room decor was beautiful and the cleanliness was immaculate. The building was lovely and the grounds and outside facilities were perfect for us. The view across the grounds was fabulous . The staff were very professional and always in good moods, they made us feel very comfortable in the building.

Unfortunately our room had no view at all, we looked out on to the roof. The window opening was restricted which was disappointing. we are aware that other rooms had incredible views but we needed a room that was not hard to get to and they did help with that, so you can't have everything. We dined in the dining room and also the bar but unfortunately the food was not to our liking. Being of the older generation it was all a bit fancy for us and we didn't really enjoy the meals at all. I'm sure that is down to our preferences rather than the quality of the food

Really welcoming, tasteful, luxurious hotel. The building itself is beautiful, as is the setting, looking over lovely countryside. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a place with such beautiful public rooms (e.g. restaurant, lounge). The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and elegant, with a powerful shower. The breakfast was lovely, and well presented. All menus seemed to contain thoughtful vegan and gluten-free options.

One single issue (and I think this must have been an oversight, as the lighting was perfect in all the public areas and the room another member of our group was in). The ambient lighting in our room wasn’t quite right. The bright ceiling light was fine for if you wanted full light. The little desk/task light was fine. But the two bedside lights were extremely dim, and along with there being no other lamp, e.g. a standard lamp or suchlike, this meant you couldn’t get a nice level of warm, ambient light to read or relax by.

On a slightly early arrival our room / suite was immediately made available. The suite (Room No 24) was exquisitely laid out and furnished with a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. The bathroom was large with high quality towelling and dressing gowns. The suite had the added advantage of an additional room with sofa, television and table, helpful if you wished for privacy to conduct business. The room was also well appointed with refreshment options, biscuits and chocolates. We booked 2 nights in order to attend the Christmas Food Market. However the Market was cancelled due to storm Darragh and under normal circumstances we would have cancelled the second nights stay and driven home. It was the comfort and homeliness of our room that convinced us to stay for the whole booking.

Whilst the breakfast was excellent with a highly varied menu we found that, for a 4* hotel, the dinner menu somewhat lacked in imagination and choice. There were two large flights of stairs to reach this second floor suite and without the help of staff with our luggage we would have found the journey upstairs a bit of a trial.

From the minute we walked in we were treated like royalty. The room was beautiful, the location was perfect and the hotel was food gorgeous. With so many places to sit and relax. We went away for my boyfriend’s birthday and we had a birthday card in the room upon arrival. The hotel gave him a free dinner and dessert and they also did him a happy birthday plate as well with macarons. Everyone was so lovely and all the staff were amazing. The room was so comfortable and clean. I loved that you take dog friendly to the next level. With dog bed, bowls, gift box and a full doggy menu I was in my element. Breakfast was delicious and a great selection. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The evening menu was disappointing and we felt expensive. We would have like to have seen a couple of classic choices like steak and some root vegetables rather than just kale and broccoli, my chicken was delicious but the red sauce was very heavy herbed and my husband's cod was small and tasteless, we left hungry.

Very dog friendly with bowls and towels at the entrance, and even wellies and umbrellas to borrow. The staff were really courteous and attentive, even though it was obviously a very busy weekend at the hotel.

The pillows were really hard and it would have been useful to have a hook on the back of the bathroom door. It would have been helpful to have a selection of the continental breakfast items in the bar area rather than just in the restaurant, as it was frustrating to have to keep walking down the corridor to get food. Also, my husband and I were able to take turns getting food so our dog was not left by herself, but if I had been by myself, I would not have been able to leave her alone, so would not have been able to get cereal, fruit, toast etc.

Returning customers & this hotel was even better than we remembered it. Great location & views! Clean, comfortable, very large room (deluxe) & bathroom with excellent rainfall shower & bath with complimentary toiletries. Lots of attractive homely touches and period decor. All staff were so friendly, helpful & attentive. Good range of breakfast options, including fresh fruit. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious, though a little pricey.

Full English breakfast was a little bland, especially the sausages. The scallops (starter) at dinner were to die for, but 3 for £15 was rather steep!

A truly special place to stay. The pictures do not do it justice. The staff are amazing especially Ben who was so friendly and helpful. Gorgeous outside areas to have drinks and food with the doggies in tow. Our room was large and luxurious - room 11 and the dogs absolutely loved the beds ready for them on arrival and dog treats. We will be back for sure.

Having to leave! Next time we’ll stay longer than the two nights we had this time around.
