This place was perfect for a night's stop over after travelling up to watch the Sunderland match. 3 adults staying for £90 is excellent value for money. Room was very clean, looked like it had been decorated very recently. Beds were comfy. Plenty of hot water for 3 showers. Bathroom clean and tidy. 20 minute walk to the stadium of light. Location on Roker beach meant we had loads of options within a short walk to eat out in the evening. The bar downstairs is also an option for food and a good place to grab a drink pre / post match. The staff are very friendly and take good care of you. Parking on site and a convenience store within a 1 minute walk. Really can't recommend this place enough for the value for money factor. Will definitely stay again.

Honestly, nothing. It was much better all round than what I had expected for the cost.

We booked the family room which was at the top floor, very spacious and with a fantastic view over the sea. The staff members were super kind and helpful to make individual arrangements for us when we decided to stay a night longer and our room had already been booked. We also really enjoyed the area where we felt being the only foreigners, with everyone else being local - the prices in the pubs and cafés are very reasonable, everybody is very friendly, the beach is nice, clean, and we felt perfectly safe. We don't understand the critical reviews of other guests as this hotel is of course not a 5 star resort but it offers good quality for a price that is really okay. We would come again!

The price. Very reasonable and cheaper than getting an Uber home after my night out.

The stairs/hallways could be better. The lights controlled by switch and when I first arrived I found myself walking round in the dark trying to find a switch. Suggest you always ensure the lights are on in the evenings or get motion sensors. A few other small details would have made this a 9. For example having toilet roll holders and better toilet roll (only single ply) and somewhere in the main room to hang my coat (wound up hanging it in the wardrobe)

Staff were super friendly and very helpful, room and en-suite bathroom were a good size. Bed was comfortable, room had everything I needed. I would definitely stay again.

Only negatives, the toilet did not flush very well, the shower tray was very slow to drain. I could not get the TV remote to work the TV. I had my iPad so it wasn’t the end of the world.

The staff member at check in was very friendly and the ladies working the bar in the evening were delightful. Despite the obvious issues with building, the bed linen and towels were crisp and clean and room itself was clean.

The building is old and tired and appears a little shabby.

We loved the price and the location as we were visiting for the womens rugby world cup. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

The draws were broken in our room when we arrived and my partner felt the need to put them back together in case we were accused of breaking them.

Brilliant location, value for money, friendly staff, easy free parking, good beer & food on site. Breakfast easy to find nearby at cafe across the road.

Nothing we didn't like apart from maybe the size of the tea and coffee cups in the room we like big mugs.

Had fab stay at The Queen Vic, location was fab, staff brilliant and helpful sorted a remote issue asap. People in the town and pubs we visited were really friendly and letting us know best places to go. Will definitely be back.

Room needs a bit of tlc but other than that no issues
