Really enjoyed the spa, I had a facial from Natalie and it was the best facial I’ve had in a very long time. Both restaurants are exceptional although it’s very pricey it’s totally worth it.

The breakfast served was cold by the time it got to the room. Also received dirty tea cups which did get replaced however I don’t think this is acceptable. I also payed for bed and breakfast and got charged on my bill, I have stayed here twice in the last two months. On my first stay I got charged for the room twice and on the second time I got charged for breakfast twice. Again this isn’t acceptable.

I loved the setting and how quiet the hotel/pool/spa was on a summer’s day. The staff were exceptional - there was no restaurant on site - so we were taken by car to one of two very close partner restaurants nearby and picked up again afterwards - then given a delicious breakfast in our room, while gazing out at the beautiful view. We were made to feel very special. The Jo Love products in the room smelt heavenly - will buy some of those now! Also, it was near the places we wanted to visit in historic Dedham and near Colchester, so great for sight-seeing. Thoroughly recommended if you like a bit of spa time too.

Having said it was quiet, there was a busy road not that far away, but it didn’t bother us, even with the window open. The sauna wasn’t hot enough (but the pool and jacuzzi were lovely).

Staff were proffesional and friendly. Everything is very well kept. Room was nice and clean. The spa is lovely. The hot tub was the perfect temperature :) Dinner was amazing at the talbooth restaurant. Breakfast at milsoms was amazing also!

Sky box and lcd tv was very dated, Would of preferred an led smart tv as sky and the old tv was very dated. Air con units would be great in the rooms instead of a dyson fan as there not that great/powerful. Snacks/chocolate in the fridge and a few fizzy drinks would be a nice touch for the money you spend.

Outstanding service, facilities, decor and ambience, coupled with the fact that it feels like guests' experience is valued above making money for the business, make Talbooth House a rare treat in this era of commercialism. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely stay, and the fact that entry to the spa is included in the room price make this one of the best value getaways around. Spa facilities were also excellent, with a large swimming pool and perfectly heated hot-tub.

There was nothing not to like about our experience!

Everything was absolutely perfect. Originally booked for 1 night but booked another, location is lovely had a beautiful walk on the foot path up the road seeing the sun go down and saw some deers and ducks. Also a 15 minute walk to Dedham town what we did also and was worth it as we went for a walk by the river and was greeted by some cows. The spa is my favourite was so relaxing lovely heated pool to the right temperature just get straight in and go for a nice swim, the jacuzzi is great too, I nearly fell asleep. Now the hotel and room itself is beautiful as we walked in was greeted and shown to our room, we stayed in Tennyson and it was breathtaking, very big space, big shower room which I loved and to top it off we had our own terrance balcony which was very spacious. The staff was lovely, made us feel comfortable and welcome and was there if anything was needed. I’d definitely be back. If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing break then I’d definitely consider the Toolbooth spa and hotel. They have restaurants that can do room service or they will take you down to the restaurant. We got breakfast to the room, tasty I’d recommend the yoghurt and blackberry pancakes.

Everything was perfect nothing to complain about

Lovely location near Dedham and Flatford mill. Sparkling clean and classy furniture and fittings. The spa is lovely and was included. Breakfast at Milsoms was superb, cannot really be beaten in this type of hotel and not over stuffy.

Ventilation was difficult as the weather was very warm, air conditioning would be a big improvement but understandable that was not installed in such a lovely old building.

Beautiful location, helpful staff and lovely spa and swimming pool. Rare to find a heated swimming pool open in November so we were delighted. Restaurant was also great, and very relaxed atmosphere was much appreciated. We did some lovely walks along the river and through Dedham, which is a lovely little village with nice pubs and shops.

The room we stayed in next to reception was a tiny bit noisy in the morning, and felt a bit exposed as looked out to the front.

Fabulous hotel, rooms and spa. All members of staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble. A super relaxing spa with lovely joint treatments for my wife and I. The restaurant, a short drive down the road (by their excellent staff in a courtesy car, both ways), was amazing too. We had a really yummy 5 course tasting menu with wine flight. Superb! A thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay. I can't recommend highly enough!

That we had to leave :(

Excellent staff very friendly and service excellent. Room comfortable with very nice bathroom. Option of using Spa very good. Had breakfast at Milsons which was average. Had dinner in Le Talbooth which was excellent if a bit overpriced. I love scallops and was shocked I only got one.

Rooms are a little tired and could do with an upgrade although comfortable. Breakfast at Milsons was fine but not worth 27.50! We were very pleased it was included in our package.A

The outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Lovely room with own terrace. Very large, comfortable bed. We appreciated the extra little touch s such as fresh milk in the fridge. Breakfast and dinner at Milsoms were excellent.

The lighting in the room! Mood lighting is fine but bedside lights need to be bright to read by - we had to use torches on our phones! The breakfast fruit was rather disappointing.
