The room was spacious and comfortable, with all amenities provided. I was really glad that our request for a room not too far from reception was received and accepted. For once we had a room that wasn't at the far end of a corridor. The breakfast was varied and tasty, food being refreshed constantly as the room was busy but we didn't need to queue for anything. It was well located, just off the motorway and easy to get to. There was plenty of parking, including disabled spaces. We were on the ground floor as requested, due to disabilities. Check in was swift and easy.

We had to pay £8 for parking which was annoying as it didn't mention this when we booked. You normally expect parking to be free if you stay at a hotel. At breakfast there was some mould on the chocolate muffins, but when I mentioned this to a staff member they were all removed from the display. It was very small and barely noticeable, so easily overlooked, but I guess they had been stored for a while!

The room was clean, warm and in good condition with everything working as it should. The public facilities were also abundant, clean and in good condition and working order. The food was good and reasonable value and the included breakfast buffet was especially good, well attended and tasty. The staff were very friendly, well presented, polite and extremely helpful at all times.

I had a 2 week stay in a twin room. After the first week I placed the used bed linen and towels in a pile and hung the housekeeping card on the door. When I returned, the cleaner had replaced the towels but had placed my used bed linen back on the bed. I thought this was strange and annoying but, as there was a second bed in the room, I simply swapped the bed linen myself for the second week and did not complain, especially as everything else was going so well.

Excellent customer service, going that extra mile as they knew lots of people staying for Ed Sheeran concert nearby so provided an unexpected snack bag to make things easier, especially given we had children. Room was very comfortable with all needed facilities including an excellent shower & supply of washing products. A helpful note regarding items such as toothbrush or shaving items (to name just a few) could be obtained from reception with no fee which was added bonus for those who need it. Excellent range of items for breakfast. My boys loved the pancake machine & that was something we had not seen before so great extra. Overall a fantastic stay & would definitely recommend.

I loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again when visiting Colchester! Very good value for money. The room was huge, with a double bed and a sofa. The bathroom was nice as well, the shower room was huge and it had shampoo, shower gel and soap for the hands. The room was very clean and had a kettle and everything to have a tea in the room. The staff was very friendly! You can ask for a comb, toothbrush or shaving kit for free in the reception. I had dinner in the restaurant, tried different food and it was delicious and very tasty, also affordable.

The only thing I did not like is that you have to pay for parking.

Lovely clean and modern hotel in a really convenient location for moving around the area. Great choice of hot and cold items for breakfast included in the price. Family room was a good size for the 3 of us. Plenty pillows on all beds to give you a choice. Lovely big walk in shower with body care products provided. Staff were really helpful, especially after a very long drive from Scotland and arriving quite late at night, they got us checked in and off to our room really quickly with minimal fuss.

The bed was a bit firm for my liking but I've stayed with worse.

The ease of booking in, the speed of evening service for dinner and the lovely complimentary breakfast with fantastic choice on offer. Loved the pancake machine. The staff were fabulous, and even gave my daughter a complimentary gift for her cheer competition the next day. A really kind and unexpected gesture that we’ve never received at any other hotel when staying over for a competition before! Thank you, it was really appreciated.

Sadly there were other guests in the room next door who somewhat ruined the stay by being loud late into the night, and then getting up at 6am and being even louder. Not the hotels fault obviously but we were looking forward to a good sleep before competing the next day!

Excellent food, both breakfast and dinner, very well presented. Quiet despite being near a major dual carriageway.

Need some hooks on the bathroom door or in the room - you ask us to reuse towels but give us nowhere to hang them to dry after having a shower. Disappointed that the patio has become the smoking area. Therefore there is nowhere for non-smokers to sit outside, relax and enjoy a drink. Could a smaller smoking area be provided elsewhere, away from the patio, returning it to its intended use.

Everything was excellent - pleasantly surprised. Good sized, well laid out, provisioned room - Every detail was just right: TV was movable as it was not fixed to the wall (great) Desk had its own directable light, The Desk's Chair was good. The Bedside tables are just the right height, the power sockets are in the right place. The Bathroom has a low level, night light for navigation in the dark. The Bathroom is well laid out, fairly spacious, very clean, nice sink and an excellent, large shower. The Receptionist was wonderful (happy, polite, helpful) They provided me with complimentary toothpaste and brush ! There is a bar and restaurant which is large and nice enough. The help yourself, buffet Breakfast was well laid out with a good variety of options (incl. Gluten free) and started at 06.30 All in all - perfect and excellent !

The room was very comfortable and a good temperature - and it had a good sized desk, which was vital for me. Although the hotel was very near the A12 and I had a room facing the road, the bedroom was reasonably quiet and the traffic little more than a background hum. It certainly didn't keep me awake. The eating facilities at the hotel were better than expected. Despite the evening food menu not looking terribly promising, the food was actually good and at a reasonable price. I very much enjoyed everything I ordered there, and the portion sizes were more than adequate. The Shell garage next door was an added bonus, stocking lots of extra food items if you needed them.

Quick check-in, was staying for a wedding the next day and just needed somewhere close to the venue. Pretty basic amenities and did the job. Room was clean and bathroom had a nice shower. They were able to provide shower gel etc.

Room was very hot overnight, couldn't get the temperature control to work at all. Breakfast was very average, there was lots of choice but it was very low quality food or lots of sweet pastries and cakes. Coffee machine wasn't working properly & the juice dispenser was just outputting water.
