The room was perfect for me, with plenty of space, warm radiators, comfortable bed, nice desk to sit at and a nice ensuite shower room. There was no noise or disturbance. There were bicycle parking areas everywhere, which was good for me, as I cycled there from the Station. I could let myself in and out at any time with a fob key. The shared kitchen was ideal, with 2 fridges, a microwave, hob, kettle and sink. I never saw anyone else in the kitchen while I was there. It was right next to my room, so very handy. I didn't realise there would be such a big campus leisure area at the University. There were three bars, lots of different eating areas, cafes, a grocery shop, gym, sports arena, theatre...you name it. It was like I was in the centre of a town. The Wivenhoe Park grounds were beautiful, with two lakes and it was a pleasure to stroll through the Park.

The only thing I wasn't quite prepared for (though they did say so in the info) was that there was no crockery or cutlery....not even a mug or teaspoon; nor any pots and pans etc. However, I gather this is normal in student accommodation...students are expected to provide all their own utensils. I didn't need pots or pans as I prefer using a microwave oven for hot food. I did bring a pint of milk and some tea bags but should have brought a mug and spoon as well. I did manage to get a wooden spoon and disposable cardboard cup from the campus shop. No big deal, but just be aware that these things are not provided.

Lovely location - Essex Campus with nice views from the room. It was really quiet, there's access to a large kitchen. En suite shower room . Collection of key fob was easy - staff were really lovely. Bed was comfy considering (more than I expected) room was clean and kitchen too. Free parking nearby.

It is a student room, so basic in terms of comfort. The kitchen is great in terms of fridge/oven/microwave but there is absolutely no crockery/cutlery etc - so not even a teaspoon, which is hard work when you are just staying one night. You have to walk all the way down the valley to get the key fob, then back up to the building. No lift. All fine for me but worth knowing.

The location was perfect for my need to be at the university. It's basic but sufficient. Very clean with toiletries and cotton linen. The grounds are beautifully kept. It was overall and excellent stay. I, in fact, extended my stay. There are several restaurants on the campus and a well-stocked mini market. And, of course there is the student union bar.

Two things: The bed and mattress were horrid. The springs on the platform and in the mattress were loose, so the bed was squeaky and uncomfortable. If it were my call, I'd get rid of the spring bed and mattress. The linen and pillow were fine, though. The kitchen was a good size with a fridge, freezer, and stove but no crockery or cutlery. This was in the advertisement, so it was not unexpected.

Location great if you're visiting University of Essex Colchester Campus. There are nearby buses to town and the train and bus stations (about 30 mins away by public bus). University Campus is very difficult to navigate though. Room and building were very clean. Shower and bathroom all basic but worked well. Room and location very quiet. Single bed and room was big enough for one person for a few nights stay. Towels, spare loo rolls, soap all provided. No lift, or not one that I could see, so if you can't manage stairs then this would be a problem (room was on 3rd floor).

The email I received on booking said to go to the Information desk to collect keys. However in Square 3, it is not obvious where the Information point is. Once you ask around you find out the the Security office on the corner is actually also the Information point (however the 'Information' sign is only visible when you are in the office or stood directly outside staring in.). Bed was also softer than I would like. Plug sockets and light switches are far from the bed and there is no bedside table, so if you want to have your phone charging nearby or read a book in bed then not ideal.

extremely clean, spotless , the room was small but I didn t need a mansion for my stay :) the staff at the reception is very nice and there s also the option for breakfast which is always a bonus. Note that the reception is in a separate building, they ll offer you the keycard and some info , the rooms are situated in some tower blocks ; the campus is really big, it may look tricky at the beginning but paying attention to directions will be very helpful

I have nothing to complain about

I request that it maybe kindly considered to provide adequately subsidized accomodation to NHS/Care workers/frontline staff/keyworkers, who may be often struggling to find affordable short term accommodation to render critical/urgent services in the area. Overall it can be seen that of-course this needs policy, implementation & leadership at the government level that can work with local partners to deliver the needful. This feedback is being made with the hope that every little effort can help. Thank you very much.

I loved being on campus with all the students. It is also a lovely campus. The room met most of my needs. It was warm and cosy, had excellent wifi, and felt very secure.

It would have been nice to have a means to make a cup of coffee/tea beyond the just the kettle in the kitchen. One plastic cup and no utensils rendered the kettle pretty redundant. I also didn't like the reliance on plastic. A nice touch would be to supply a complementary University mug perhaps and some sachets. The cafes closed earlier than I expected so there really wasn't anywhere to get a coffee.

The venue of the graduation and the accommodation is only few meters away so its very convenient. The reception staff were accommodating. Staff quickly corrected the wrong room given.

The other room I booked for my friend was not cleaned when we opened it (see photo below). We ended up not able to use the booked included breakfast as the line for the shops were very long due to groups of students. We will be late for the graduation if we join the very long waiting lines. Hope we were advised earlier or was given other line to wait or option to just pick up food as take away.

Well positioned to stay in the Campus. The room is large enough for staying a few nights, there is a kitchen but I stayed only 1 night so I didn't try it. It seemed clean and properly furnished. Staff at the information center was really helpful.

The bathroom was like on ships, with the shower directly connected in the "main floor" of the bathroom, without proper separation.

clean spacious room (en suite bathroom), nice shared communal kitchen with appliances (but maybe bring your own cutlery & pans, seasoning etc. and food/grocery shopping of course 🙂). Good reastaurant/cafe choice at campus + a small shop for food essentials. A big Tesco store (Hythe) just a couple of bus stops away. The park/lakes area was nice for walks and to sit down and relax.
