Milsom's is in a good location and pleasant grounds. Excellent selection for breakfast and a good dinner menu that had plenty of tasty options. Staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable.
Rooms very hot, with no lighter / summer bedding options - just a thick duvet - and a "bearskin" rug and cushions on the bed in August! odd that the only room with a walk in shower - for someone with limited mobility, should be on the first floor, with no lift in the building. To be fair, we did know this when we booked - so not a complaint - but accessibility issues should be improved.

Lovely hotel. The location was great, easy to find just off of the A12 but near to Dedham village and the River Stour for a country walk. Room was very comfortable and the air conditioning very efficient. Public areas very nice. We found all the staff very pleasant and accommodating. We were especially pleased and would like to highlight the excellent service we received from a member of the bar staff (sorry didn’t get his name) for getting us nightcaps after the bar had closed and we had arrived back later than expected from a concert. He also showed genuine interest in our evening.
Grab rail into the bath would have been welcome.

Just perfect in every regard for consideration, attention and attitude towards guests. We were given an unexpected upgrade which was most generous and so appreciated. Excellent restaurant with friendly staff. One of our friends was a resterateur. He placed great emphasis on staff scanning the room. Getting attention subtly can be difficult and here was likewise. I'm not criticising as staff could not have been more helpful but just making a general observation. Milsoms went far more than the extra mile and provided a life long memory of a great stay.
Really struggling to find something. The wooden, "Do not disturb" sign to hang on door handle prevented the door being locked. Otherwise, all good

We liked everything. The room was spacious, comfortable and had a beautiful view of their wonderful tree in the garden. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. They was extremely trustworthy as I accidentally left my phone in the toilets and also cash in the room. They contacted me by phone and I went back to collect. Very impressed.
There was only one thing we didn't like. There was a couple in the restaurant wearing baseball caps but this was obviously nothing to do with the Hotel.

Location.
Although a fairly minor issue, it would have been useful to have a handheld shower as well as a 'rainfall' shower - the latter is an enemy when trying to preserve a hairstyle for a night out! The toiletries were disappointing, in what is promoted as a quality hotel - the shower gel was like washing up liquid and there was no handcream/body lotion! It would have been helpful for window keys to have been provided, it was a warm night and an open window would have aided a more comfortable night's sleep.

Comfortable rooms, quiet rooms. Excellent restaurant with polite staff, good decor and a great buzz on a Friday night. Food was exceptional. Well balanced flavours. Tarte Tatin with butterscotch sauce very well judged- not too much butterscotch but just enough to offset the apple. It’s unusual to find chefs who can balance flavour well in this way.
Not a fan of ceiling showers. Needed to provided shower cap for those of us who want want to get hair wet, or an additional wall shower handset. Ended up having a bath instead.

We have been great fans of dining at Milsoms - living locally for 30 odd years but more recently on overnight stays after moving to London. The relaxed style of hassle free dining suits us perfectly. Staff are superb.
Room 12 was pretty noisy until about midnight. Much activity upstairs. The room is perfectly nice but getting a bit 'tired'. The towels were threadbare; a lick of paint is probably in order and we couldn't open either the room or the bathroom windows for fresh air.

The location was beautiful, breakfasts really good as was evening meal, I liked the ordering service.
I didn’t particularly like the brown bed accompaniments in the bedrooms, I thought they didn’t look clean although I’m sure they were. We were in room 14, near a door to the outside which I assume the staff use, this was very noisy at times as it was let bang, I would not recommend this room

The hotel is very easy to reach by car & I received a warm welcome, including some birthday treats. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. The other meals I had there were also absolutely delicious.
I can’t think of anything. Some water started dripping into my bathroom through the ceiling a few hours after I checked in but the staff moved me to another room (which actually I liked better!) & gave me a complementary glass of wine with my dinner so I feel that was dealt with satisfactorily.

Nice room if a little small, good bathroom, very comfy bed & pillows, everything we needed, air con, tea tray, fridge with soft drinks & sky tv
Main lighting in bedroom was not good enough or bright enough. You had to use mirror in bedroom for makeup because neither my husband or I could see in bathroom mirror. Unless you are over 6ft tall you can’t use it. There is extra lighting in room but this just shines in mirror & doesn’t help, take a travel mirror to use.
