Free parking in a big car park. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. Very comfortable bed, (although it could be too soft for some people). All the staff were friendly and helpful. Our basin was slow draining and this was rectified the same day we reported it. On site Hungry Horse restaurant and Harvester just down the road. 20-25 min walk to bus stop into the city. Easy drive to Southsea.

The main thing was the shower over the bath. No bathmat was supplied so potentially slippery and no grab handles. It was difficult to control the shower temperature and force. I felt unsafe and would not want to use it more than once. Only 3 hangers in the room. Lounge bar was closed for most of the time we were there. Hotel generally in need of a spruce up and outside the main entrance made more welcoming. There were cigarette ends in flower tubs and a sorry looking pond feature. More lighting for car park needed.

Relatively good value. Big, comfortable room and bathroom. Big, comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful staff. As a woman on my own I feel safe there when I'm by myself. Plenty of easy to access parking. Attached to a pub with good quality, reasonably priced food and drinks.

They have now stopped supplying decaffinated coffee. You always had to ask at reception for it before, but it wasn't a problem to be given some sachets, but this time they didn't have any and I was told that they aren't going to order any in the future. This is not good for people with bladder issues. :( I really would urge the people who make these decisions to reverse this one!

I stayed for three nights and found it excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also the availability of onsite parking was a bonus.

It's not a huge dislike but the room looked a bit tired and the decor basically cream and brown was a bit gloomy. Even the wall pictures were black and white. The bath/shower is not easy to get into with perhaps a grab handle being fitted which would help. You have to ask reception for a bath mat to stop you slipping which should just be supplied along with the standard towels etc. There's an extremely small notice about the bath mat availability which I didn't notice. Just making it standard supply would be good.

Very accommodating, lovely reception staff very friendly & polite! Situated perfectly in Portsmouth plenty of amenities around and right next door to a hungry horse. Only £10 for two orange juices and two lots of fried eggs on toast absolute bargain! Their meals and food there were exceptional would 100% recommend trying the chicken goujons 3 for £13 they are the best goujons I’ve had! Bed was SUPER comfy have even emailed reception to ask where they got it from as since I’ve come home I haven’t slept properly 😆 no charge for ironing board and iron surprisingly too! We come from Portsmouth and moved away a couple months ago. Will 100% stay here each visit!

Absolutely nothing apart from you could hear doors shutting early in the morning from other guests but that’s it

We stayed on the 6th - 8th June. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Our special thanks go to Marzena in the restaurant/bar who went out of her way to ensure we had a great evening. When we arrived in the restaurant the only available table was next to what was later on to be the karaoke stage. As she cleared tables when people left she came and moved us to a better table. After two such moves we ended up in settee type seats at the other end away from the karaoke. She did not have to go to that trouble she could have just left us where we first sat. All the staff were good but Marzena deserves !0/10.

ALL the staff were exceptionally cheerful and helpful all through my stay. My sister had a party booked there and again, the hotel staff and security staff couldn't do enough to help. Food was delicious and plentiful in the restaurant and at the party. The room itself was ok, but there were stains on the carpet, and the shower head definitely needed a good clean. The controls for the shower were difficult to turn and when I managed it, the water came out cold with such force it made me jump. I think it needs a good overhaul to be honest. The bed was clean and very comfortable! I would stay again if I was visiting the area, but as I said things need to be sorted.

The car park was very large so I got a space easily. The staff were very welcoming and professional. The facilities were great. I didn't use the restaurant but I did use the bar and the service was fantastic. It is a short walk and even shorter drive to the retail park which has a good selection of shops.

Although the room was very large it is all looking a little bit tired and in need of some updating, especially the bathroom.

The check in was really welcoming,smiling faces and helpful information about the property. The room was big,everything I needed,the bathroom was big,clean and plenty of towels. The cleaning ladies were polite,helpful and always asked if I needed anything else. The breakfast was super,very efficient and cooked to order. Every time I walked through reception to the car park there was a warm,friendly hello. The staff really are excellent

There wasn’t much not to like. My only frustration was the WiFi. I had to go through the process of signing in every time- even if it were minutes later. But it was a minor frustration and not something that meant a lower mark. I would have no hesitation in staying here again and recommending it to anyone. Terrific value for money

Paid to book a larger room and this was well worth it. My positive revue is based on this upgrade with the spaciousness of the room, the large bed, the comfortable seating area, the large bathroom, etc. Very friendly staff, especially the night porter who warmly welcomed us. Good breakfast and excellent restaurant service. Easy parking and easy to find the hotel.

The hotel is well laid out but very "tired". Really does need an intensive make-over to remove the wear and tear which gives it a shabby feel. It does not compare well to the sleeker chains. (However, we will continue to use it as it is clean, with good staff and very convenient location.)

My partner and I loved everything about the hotel. We were more than comfortable there and will definitely be back. I only mark it down because clearly Green King clearly dont want to give it the love and attention it deserves as it's quite dated and in need of a update. But I'm talking relatively minor stuff like frayed carpets and scuffed walls - cosmetic things. If you are not a snob, it's clean and comfortable with excellent staff and I highly recommend staying.
