The Penventon is a lovely hotel, will certainly book again. It has an almost tranquil feel and looks beautiful on arrival. We booked the Penventon Suite. There was an issue with a flickering light, however the staff sorted this immediately. They were extremely pleasant, also recognising the inconvenience of this we were given complimentary drinks (not requested but very thoughtful and welcome!). The room was lovely. The bathroom was gorgeous; best shower we have ever had the pleasure of! Off the charts! We are both well travelled and have stayed in many 5 star hotels, but this shower was amazing. Loved the 'shabby chic', very welcoming feel of the lounge. It was extremely comfortable and the service was great. The breakfast was terrific, again the staff were most attentive and efficient. We stayed in four different hotels during our trip to Cornwall, and The Penventon was easily the best. The contrast between this and our next 'luxury' hotel could not have been greater.

We were only there for one night, so did not have a chance to try the facilities. Our rating is in response to the accommodation and food.

The hotel is in a great location as a base to explore wider Cornwall..although I was on a relax trip so spent most of my time at the hotel, relaxing and enjoying the spa facilities. Ellie did an amazing massage, I chose the Back to life option. It was great that the hotel has single rooms and accommodates solo travellers. The food was good but quite pricey for the dinner options. The room was comfortable with basic tea/coffee making and room service was good. The staff are all very lovely and doing a good job, although it felt like there was no one 'in charge', so it felt slightly disorganised but in a charming way. A bit of customer service training would boost them from good to amazing! The hotel is a little tired in places but this doesn't detract from the overall joy of the hotel. And it has a nice casual but courteous atmosphere to it. It's lovely that it's dog friendly although I left my pooch at home this time.

There was nothing that I didn't like. Overall it was a lovely relaxing break and I would definitely return..

Breakfast was delicious, hot food to order, toast, juices, croissants and various home made jams and marmalade. Evening meals - I had sirloin steak cooked perfectly the first night and a prime beef burger the next. My partner had chicken supreme the first night and a chicken burger the next. All were lovely. We both had creme brulle and agreed this was the best we had ever tasted. Special mention to the lovely Receptionist who checked us on and out - she noticed my walking stick and was unhappy with the room we had booked (top floor which we were unaware of) she changed the room to an upgraded ground floor FOC - this made a huge difference to my experience, that you so much. We used the leisure facilities which were very nice. The hotel itself is lovely, full of Georgian splendour without being pretentious. Housekeeping was excellent. All the staff are friendly. What a lovely hotel.

Nothing it was perfect.

Breakfast was great, with lots of options. The towels in the room were fluffy and lovely, and the beds were comfortable. The weather was quite hot and the room had a fan which was effective. Staff attentive

On arrival the entrance to reception was locked (arrived at close to midnight) and there was a note to ring a number, however I didnt have phone reception. However the reception staff was located nearby with a couple of minutes, so didnt have to wait to long. Might be best that if reception staff unavailable there is a buzzer connecting staff to the door instead of asking people to phone

The food was the best in the area, it totally exceeded our expectation. There wasn’t an overly massive selection but they had mastery over the dishes that they do have. We had arrived on a Friday and I always get fish and chips on Fridays so I got that for laughs because the place had an opulent, old world charm, and they did the f&c perfectly. I always judge a place on how well they can do a basic and this place is set. We also tried the mackerel and the scallops, also very delicious. If I wasn’t watching my figure I’d have more than one pina colada too. Also the staff! They are all very friendly and warm, everyone just goes above and beyond making sure we have a good time. The hotel is just very pretty, sitting down by the bar and the drawing room just makes me feel like we’re about to have an Agatha Christie situation in our hands. And I saw that they are going to do a murder mystery night!

The pool was a little bit murky :/ the scent of the chlorine was really strong. I saw that the ceiling needed some refreshing as well. But all in all, everything else was good. We’d definitely come back.

The room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was well maintained and spotless. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and genuinely wanted you to enjoy your stay. Gym was small but had enough for a productive session and the pool was just big enough to swim lengths. Very relaxing pool area. Food was excellent in the restaurant and breakfast was excellent. Lovely area to sit outside and large car park. Easy to get to as just off A30.

Blinds on window of downstairs bathroom would have been a good idea. Some communal areas show its age but a refurb is planned, this did not detract from our stay at all as the overall impression -facilities, staff and bedroom - was excellent.

The hotel is absolutely stunning and ideally placed if you want to visit other parts of Cornwall. You are half hour from Falmouth, St Ives, Hale and St Micheal’s Mount which is well worth a visit. The room we had was excellent and we even had our own little decking area overlooking the garden.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming the hotel facilities are excellent and the spar facilities are included in your stay. The breakfast is excellent and the food at the hotel in the evening is excellent as well and reasonably priced, it is safe to say we will stay here again next year.

Comfortable beds, room was a single smaller than I thought but was ok. Food was excellent, didn’t have any drinks in bar.

I booked a ground level room for my mum, this wasn’t done. I asked if both rooms were up the stairs was told yes but the reception man (two plasters on his hand) the man from the bar dark hair came over to ask the reception something. He should have said sorry to interrupt but he didn’t. My mum who has trouble walking & with the stairs. You could see she was struggling with the stairs, the receptionist should have asked if the room was suitable. The man who took the bags upstairs again surely should have asked. Plus we walked a long way round (we found a short cut in the end). The older gentlemen was the only person who realised we needed a ground floor room and managed to sort this out while we were eating are dinner. I did say we booked a ground floor.

Booked because of swimming pool for children. Quite a lovely hotel. Pleasant staff. Plenty of parking spots.

Children had designated times in the pool; however, random adults were allowed to be in the pool at the same time making it difficult for children to swim freely and enjoy themselves. Restrictions should apply both ways - if children are not allowed in the pool outside of their time, then random childless adults should not be allowed during family hours either. Restaurant for dinner was not amazing. We didn't want to eat there again.

Im so glad I found this stunning hotel. If you are looking for a touch of royalty and elegance, this is where you belong. We did not want to checkout and could live here forever. The staff are so polite and their service makes you feel like a king.

There was an event taking place on our last night and the music continued till 11.30pm. I had called the reception and enquired and they mentioned the music licence permits them to play music till this hour which was a bit annoying considering the fact that we had an early start next morning.
