The location of the hotel is amazing and we loved breakfast looking out to sea !!. Breakfast was excellent although some mornings if we were late the food wasn't 'fresh' which for a 5 star hotel should be. We only had dinner once as so expensive but very good quality. The fillet stake was £30 and a packet of crisps was £3.50, also the beer for a small bottle was £8 so I do think they should review their prices. .50

Cheaper prices at the bar and restaurant. Would have been nice to see a front of house Manager !! where was he ??!! - We would of thought this is a must in a hotel of this calibre.

The breakfast in general was excellent. We loved local ham, and egg benedict. Bread was fresh out of the oven. Milk tea with scorns, cream and jam was also very good. For dinner, we ate local fish and mussels that were excellent, We also had lambs, beef and ducks which were all very good. However, side vegetables (asparagus, potatoes, some green vines) were so so, or oK. Tomatoes were not good. We could bring our own wine bottles to the table (with no extra charges). Homemade ice cream was very nice and cheese board with a variety of local cheese was excellent. Services were also excellent. Bar was very nicely stocked, and open until the last customer went to bed (10 PM). Everything is just wonderful. The hotel is located in a quaint fishing village at the land's end (just like the BBC show, Doc Martin). The sea view from each room is just fantastic. In the room, there was a kettle and good supply of tea (and real milk ! in the bottle in the fridge) but my American husband could get only instant powder coffee. Outside the hotel, we could explore many little paths for hiking and vista, and we enjoyed a little picnic on nearby hills. We did not need to go anywhere else, and stayed there for three days. I brought my own hobbies(sketching) and sat on the terrace, watching seagulls soar high above the sea. Some people (children) swam in the water, and I saw scuba divers.

However, please be warned that the 13 miles-or-so approach to the hotel is a winding, dangerously narrow, single-lane, country road. It was very hard to navigate especially for foreigners (Americans) in a large rent-a-car. Next time we would like to take a train from London, and hire a cab. You really don't need to risk your life getting there.

We chose not to eat in the hotel, we may have decided otherwise if there was a menu available in our room to tempt us, and from other guest comments understood it was pricey. We did have breakfast which was a bit disorganised with some little but essential things missing - we had to ask for napkins, butter knife, serving spoons for the cold buffet - so did not live up to the price tag of the hotel. Service charge is added to every item even just a pot of tea - I just wish hotels could be honest with their pricing rather than hide the true cost by adding service charge to everything

The room was lovely with plenty of space and a really good shower. The hotel is in a stunning location looking out to sea. The food was very good although there are a couple of suggestions for improvement below.

Being railroaded into additional cost for the Christmas package. The food needed the option of side dishes so that having a particular vegetable didn't preclude one from ordering that dish. One of the waiting staff couldn't speak English.

The room was very good, clean and comfortable with lovely views. Most of the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming, in particular the lady serving a very good breakfast and the ladies in Reception. The food at dinner was of good quality and well presented but a very limited menu which didn’t change significantly over the three days we were there. A meal for two (3 courses) and bottle of wine, allow £150 ish. A single measured gin and tonic about £11. They also add 12.5% service charge on meals and drinks from the bar

The Lugger is situated in a tiny working harbour at the bottom of a very steep hill accessed via narrow lanes which can be difficult to negotiate. The Lugger has a small car park so don’t arrive too late coz there isn’t anywhere else to park near the hotel. Also be aware that the only pub in the village is currently closed. There is nowhere else to eat or drink nearby and no shop.

We were recommended this hotel as part of our honeymoon trip to Cornwall. Fantastic hotel overall and beautiful setting! Lovely bedroom with everything we needed. Appreciated all the little luxurious touches such as white company toiletries and nice bedding/towels. Plenty options for breakfast and service was fantastic.

Sample dinner menu online was priced much lower than the menu when we were having dinner (average main course around £32), service on the first night was great but second was unfortunately very poor in comparison. Roads to access hotel not ideal (very narrow) and limited car parking at hotel. Single glazing windows in bedroom rattled slightly but not a deal breaker for us.

Exactly what we were looking for; small, very good service and delightful location, small village in what felt like a relatively undiscovered part of Cornwall. We feel we must commend all of the staff we encountered during our stay, especially Lisa, the receptionist who greeted us and the brilliant restaurant staff. Also, I have to mention the cleaning staff as the rooms were spotless. Yes, food and drink were expensive, however, we expected to pay for excellent food and service. Oh, and the views are spectacular.

Well, if I liked to nit-pick, I expect I could find something, but I don't and I couldn't...

Lovely friendly staff. Good breakfast and dinner choices. We enjoyed our stay and the weather was kind enough to allow us to sit outside on the terrace for a drink. Gorgeous waterside spot even when it's wild and windy. We've stayed before and will come back. Might choose different room though.

Room was fairly small but had everything you needed. Bathroom had shower over the bath which could be a problem for those less mobile. Car parking is an issue here so be warned. Tight entrance and nowhere to turn if full. Don't think they have enough spaces for guest numbers.

This was easily one of our favourite getaways. As a couple with older children we have started getting away for a weekend,over the last few years.With a good many being mediocre. This gorgeous cottage was NOT one of them. This was a beautiful place, very professional.Attention to detail. Amazing views and access to coast path. Really lovely staff. Super comfy bed and just really special and luxurious. A rare treat!

We absolutely loved everything but...In the context of feedback in the form of constructive criticism.. The windows are a little grubby, especially upstairs which obscures the beautiful view, just a smidge. The water was a little tepid in the bath.This could be personal preference? More observations than dislikes!

We were made to feel very welcome by friendly and attentive staff. The location is stunning, with lovely views from the hotel itself, and panoramic views by walking just a few hundred metres from the hotel along the coast path in either direction. An excellent base or stopping off point for walkers and nature lovers

The last couple of miles to the village and hotel are along very narrow, single track roads. So anyone unfamiliar with this type of driving may find it a bit uncomfortable, especially when meeting buses or delivery vans!
