As regular visitors to St Mawes we already knew the pub and liked it, but we have to say that we were blown away by our experience and service. Beautiful comfortable spacious room with every amenity you could want - the Dry robes were an excellent idea. So much superb attention to detail and lovely touches such as the OS map and book of the SWCoast path in the room, plus the ready stamped postcard to send to a friend telling them about your stay. We really liked the tea and coffee (fresh milk in the fridge gets a big thumbs up) and beers selection in the room. The shortbread biscuits were yummy and we were thrilled with the Easter eggs outside our door on Easter morning! The bed was lovely and comfy. There was plenty of space for our labrador who was welcomed in the bar and at breakfast and dinner. It's his favourite stay ever because of the plentiful supply of dog biscuits in the hall way!! The meals we had were delicious - really good choice of breakfast options and the one evening meal we had was exceptional (seabass on orzo with herb pesto, delicious!). Fantastic beers of course as we knew there would be. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our stay could not be faulted.

Some paid for parking would be nice. We noted that the hotel opposite did offer free parking in the main carpark.

Very good communication, pre arrival, following a special request I made via email. The hotel were unable to fulfil my specific request for a bath (there is only one room with a bath), but offered us two other options to enhance our stay further. The breakfast menu was fabulous. Fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurts, cereal, toast and juices all ready to go. In the meantime you could peruse the extensive 'hot' menu, which featured smoked salmon, eggs, full English, pancakes, overnight oats, plenty of options to suit everyone. Excellent service and the views from the conservatory across to the harbour were heavenly. The breakfast room was light and airy, with plenty of space around each table. The service provided was both friendly and efficient. Our room (number 11) was complete perfection. We had two wonderful bedrooms, both with an en-suite shower room and huge shower enclosure. Robes, an ironing board, even Dry Robes and umbrellas were also available to use. Bottles of water were available in each bedroom too. The icing on the cake was the snug/lounge area, which was a relaxing area to use at the end of a long day, furnished with leather sofas and armchairs, a mini bar/fridge and TV. Very stylish, beautiful decor and luxurious details throughout. Roberts radios in each room. Room/Apartment 11 was a nice quiet room, except for the bar emptying the glass bottles into the recycling bin outside each evening, after hours. It didn't concern us, as we were awake but if you had younger children it might have posed a problem. The parking was easy, with a huge public car park adjacent. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on the first night, which was busy and clearly a popular choice. The menu was a bit limited, however the food was magnificent. A very good NZ Sauvignon Blanc on the wine list was 'Sub Tropika', which we can highly recommend! The Inn was beautiful at night, with its twinkling lights and candles.

We were disappointed, on our arrival, to find a filthy face cloth left in the downstairs shower room and a teabag on the floor by the toilet. The upstairs shower room had a bottle of Mr Muscle window and glass cleaner perched on the bin. A few house keeping oversights, nothing serious.

The staff were very helpful and the room was probably one of the best we have ever had in an hotel, absolutely fabulous. Dinner in the dinning room was OK but not great. The menu was unimaginative and a little expensive for what we had. It was a Sunday and my wife had the roast which was probably left over from lunch time and a little tired. I had mussels which could have been hotter. Other than hamburgers there didn't appear to be any fresh cooked meats available such as steak.

Dinner as above

Great location good food friendly staff. Our room was new and well appointed. Much thought had been out into the room regarding sockets mirrors and the walk in shower was lovely. The bathroom even had a movement sensitive light at floor level. Plenty of choice for breakfast and the children's full English was ok for me. Our room even had dry robes for after swimming.

Although there is no parking it is next to a large public car park and it is £7 for 24 hours so not an issue.

The accommodation was first class with total refurbishment within the last six months and well appointed rooms with excellent facilities. The staff were courteous and engaging without being at all intrusive and gave useful visit tips when requested. The freshly prepared food was of high quality, using local ingredients and was value for money. Breakfast was served quietly, with plenty of choice, and wonderful views overlooking the sea.

Hotel decor excellent. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would return. However, our bedroom, as lovely as it was, sat directly above the kitchen - which disturbed us due to an extremely noisy extraction fan during breakfast and evening meals. You could also clearly hear noise associated with food preparation. The hotel were accommodating in that we were able to change rooms, but a bit of a nuisance as we were only staying a couple of nights. We realise at the time of our stay there was significant construction work being undertaken on site - which is unavoidable. However, it might have been more appropriate for the large gathering of construction site workers eating en masse to be served their breakfast, say, 30mins after the official end of breakfast service for paying guests.

We came for a wedding in St. Mawes and couldn't have found a better location. It is right in the center of the quaint town, right above the restaurant, and had a beautiful view of the harbor. Even though it is above a restaurant, it has 4-star amenities. The staff are extremely warm and professional. Checkin took only a few minutes and we were shown our room. It was spacious—more like two rooms: a living room and a bedroom. The bed was the most comfortable one we stayed at on any trip (and we had some nice ones). The decor of the room was an ode to the history of the restaurant and St. Mawes, but it was tastefully done without being campy or kitschy. For the wedding, it was so convenient. After-dinner drinks with the wedding party took place at the pub. The next morning we walked next door to the ceremony. Breakfast every day was a wonderful indulgence. My only personal regret was a race the next week, so I couldn't really take part in the wide selection of beers and ciders. Finally—the people. Every interaction was wonderful. There was an awkward moment when I misunderstood when breakfast was over. The staff quickly made an exception and saved my appetite. For that, I'm forever in their debt. In the end, it absolutely exceeded expectations. I originally expected a tired, overprice, touristy venue. What I found was classy, comfortable, authentic, and welcoming. Bravo.

Almost nothing I wouldn't recommend. I didn't see an elevator (didn't look hard enough) so I wouldn't recommend if you don't like stairs. And final nitpick—you can't take the (delicious) food upstairs.

I can't praise the staff enough! We were very late due to road closure. I rang ahead and from the start the staff were amazing. It was my partner birthday and I ask for some ice cream to be delivered to our room at 12 midnight to go with his cake. They ensure my request was met despite the fact that the kitchen has closed hours before and staff shift ended at 11.30pm! This was just an example how they went above and beyond. The head chef Ben even prepared something a little special for my hubby for his birthday. Will definitely be revisiting the hotel again, room was fabulous, staff outstanding, I can't recommend it enough! Guaranteed to return again soon.

The room was beautiful, I booked a sea view which delivered exactly what I asked for. All staff that we encountered went above and beyond. Special mention to Ben, Tegan, Ann & Georgia who was our shining star.

Great breakfast. We had a lovely large comfortable room, it had everything we needed ie mini bar, iron, tea and coffee. We were really pleased with the location as we could easily walk to all the bars and restaurants in the village.

The kitchen fans were rather loud outside our bedroom window. It turned off around 10pm, however the other fans kept running all night outside our other window. It wasn’t horrendous but we weren’t able to open the windows on a hot night. (Room 1)

Beautiful hotel and wonderful service. Humans and dogs felt totally spoilt!! Bedrooms are beautiful designed and decorated. And the extras are a real surprise - dry robes for us, doggie bags for the dogs, lovely dressing gowns. And the variety of tea and coffee, and snacks and drinks in the fridge - really excellent service and a lot of thought has gone into making it a beautiful stay. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant - food is excellent. And the hotel is in the heart of St Mawes so ideally placed. The staff were all really attentive, clearly work really hard and go out of their way to help with everything.
