For a long stay of 9 nights the room was perhaps a disappointment The linen was clean and crisp and housekeeping looked after us very well. The dining room was always full as coach tours use this hotel regularly. Therefore we ate most of our breakfast and some evening dining in a lounge/dining area used as a corridor to access bar and restaurant. The food was of a good selection and value should you choose to eat in house. All staff members that we encountered during our stay were always professional, helpful and welcoming.

A very busy hotel. Having booked specifically a room with walk in shower, we were informed that the one they had was due for maintenence as the shower leaked. This made it extremely difficult to negotiate for older clients. Understaffed in all areas of client service. For example: reception, restaurant, bar. The dining room was always full as coach tours use this hotel regularly. Therefore we ate most of our breakfast and some evening dining in a lounge/dining area used as a corridor to access bar, reception and restaurant. We feel sure that this property will need a full refit and refurbish before too much longer. Carpet in all areas needed cleaning and a spill in lounge/dining area was never attended to in our 9 night stay.

The breakfast buffet was really good with a choice of hot or cold buffet. Pleased there were dairy milk alternatives available. The coffee/hot drinks machines were excellent. The Studio room I stayed in had a fan to keep the room cool which was much appreciated. A welcome note and some chocolate from housekeeping was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and the walk in shower was lovely. The hotel gave a free drink from the bar to guests who had agreed to skip the clean which was an innovative idea. Location was good. Not far into town by car.

Agree with other reviews about state of the carpets and paintwork on the ground floor. Could do with a refresh.

Very pleasant hotel with large, clean rooms in a quiet setting. Easy to find and plenty of free parking. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Food was very nice - we had both breakfast and dinner.

The process for booking a table for dinner was disorganised - I tried to book in advance by e-mailing (and was told reservations had been made), and also checked at reception on arrival, and still my booking for the second night didn't exist - perhaps an online booking form or clear instructions to book every day at reception would be a good idea. Staff were incredibly helpful about it though, and made room for us.

The hotel was easy to find but we arrived on a wedding evening so parking was challenging (although there is plenty round the back). The staff are excellent and the building is nice and spacious. The food is good value and the breakfast was good. It was good value for money. For those with a dog there are reasonable grounds and a nice walk across the dual carriageway (not the easiest to find)

Our room was adjacent to the court yard being used by the wedding, so quite noisy on the first night. Having the window closed meant the room was hot. A hotel like this should have an EV Charger.

I booked it for my father and his lady friend. They liked it. Very comfy and calm. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.

Shame there is no lift. So, I chose ground floor on this occasion as my elderly father can't walk much or go up and down stairs. It is also difficult to phone the hotel direct. I tried several times and got redirected to a call centre, who could not help me with specific info about that hotel such as, Is there a lift ? etc. so I had to go in person to chat to them initially. Lucky, I live not too far from this hotel.

The location is perfect for visiting Royal Tunbridge Wells and a 10 min walk to the hospital . Hotel immaculate outside beautiful setting. Inside the hotel, it's immaculate, welcoming staff at reception, checked in quickly. Our room was spotless, everything to hand to make our stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. Bed comfortable, extra pillows if required , slippers and robes provided . Bathroom spotless , toiletries provided which smell gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious. Hot food provided, fruit , and cereal , pastries, bread . It is self-service, but staff are on hand to offer assistance , greeted with a hello, and a smile. Perfect stay , my husband and I would definitely stay again . All members of staff go above and beyond to ensure you're comfortable , keep the hotel & rooms spotless, answer questions , and offer advice and assistance.

I recently stayed at the Mercure in Tunbridge Wells, and I have to say, the staff really made the experience stand out. From the moment I arrived, they were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. It’s rare to find such friendly, attentive service, and honestly, it set the tone for the whole stay. The room itself was a pleasant surprise, very comfortable. The layout felt cozy without being cramped, and the little touches really made it feel welcoming. But here's the real treat, the amount of chocolate. I don’t know who made that decision, but I sincerely thank them. The mini bar was stocked with an impressive amount of chocolate treats. It’s like they knew exactly what I needed after a long day of traveling. Definitely a sweet little detail that made the stay even more enjoyable.

On arrival - we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were wonderful. The overnight parking charge was waived if we joined their loyal member scheme (for free). We were also surprised to receive a complimentary discount on any food and drinks consumed. This transformed our stay from being a bit pricey - to very affordable. With the lovely breakfast included, I will definitely consider staying with Mercure hotel again.

As soon as the booking was confirmed - I was informed that there was an extra overnight parking charge of £10 per night. There were also other negative restrictions which made me feel that I should have booked elsewhere. But the experience was the complete opposite and it was actually brilliant value.

The staff are just lovely. They all seemed friendly in a natural way and gave the impression they were happy, which made us, as guests, happy. We ate in the hotel one night and there was a little confusion over which menu we were ordering from, as we werent sitting in the main restaurant, but we ordered from the Bar/Brasserie menu. The food really exceeded our expectations. We werent expecting much, but everything was really fresh and tasty and we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are basic but comfortable and we had a nice view out to mature trees from our room. We also appreciated the drinks vouchers we got when we chose not to get our room made up.

The hotel was cold. The rooms, the halls, the bar.... all cold! The bar closed in the evening bang on time, but with no warning for us to get a drink. The main entrance by the road could do with some lighting if you are walking in the dark as its quite hard to see where you are stepping.

I previously stayed at another hotel in Tunbridge Wells for similar pricing and Mercure definitely came on top. I liked the included parking and wifi, the room well equipped with tea, coffee and toiletries, the comfortable bed with very clean bedsheets, and the fact that it was very quiet. It`s not close to town center, but not difficult to reach it either. They know how to welcome their guests and you will notice that as soon as you get there. I even signed up for membership, I have a feeling I`ll stay with them in the future. :)

I personally would like a fridge for drinks in the room, or a way to be able to have cold drinks in the room. Not exactly somenthing to be labeled as not liked, but it will be nice to have.
