Very convenient for meeting friends and family pre wedding celebrations. Near an interesting church and village centre to visit, and it was a very short walk from the station along the footpath.

There were hooks for coats etc but no adequate hanging space, ie hangers, nor chair backs to hang clothes over. The room is very small with a small shower room at the back. We are both small and slim with only a small overnight bag. Would be cramped for tall/large guests with big luggage. Our room was in the outside extension, so rooms above the pub may be bigger.

Food was good and a sensible price. Good sized room and comfortable bed. Convenient location and close to other amenities.

Not a major issue, but the room was directly above the bar, so it was quite noisy until just after 11 pm. Website seemed to imply that all the rooms were in a separate building to the actual pub, so I wasn't expecting to be staying above the bar. Having said that, it wouldn't put me off staying at The Star again.

What a find .... we are always disappointed with airport hotels always grim and overpriced so decided to stay just outside gatwick 15 mins drive .....this place has everything you need for an overnight stay The staff are friendly the rooms are really clean we also had an evening meal in the restaurant and all i can say the food was exceptional the quality and presentation and reasonable price recommended this place to all of my friends already

Friendly & helpful Staff with a good atmosphere - Great choice of food inc. vegetarian & very tasty (had the pizza & goats cheese salad with chips) - Accommodation is comfortable & good value, breakfast a reasonable £10 extra. Would recommend.

A few planes to Gatwick do pass over during the evening, you get used to it. Room & Bathroom a little tired, however clean & tidy. There is a green Fire Exit Lamp above the door which is very very bright, kept us awake the first night like a night light, so teh second night we covered it with boxer shorts which did the trick!

The staff serving the breakfast were excellent and very helpful. Majority of staff were very nice. Convenient location for the airport and a beautiful village.

The evening staff could have been friendlier. We were held up due to the M25 being closed so a few late arrivals and although one staff member was extremely nice and helpful unfortunately the others made us feel we had done something wrong! Noisy with the staff cleaning in the morning.

Beautiful pub in a quaint village. Large bright rooms with good facilities. Very clean and comfortable. Gorgeous food in the pub downstairs, they have a fantastic beer garden and an outdoor pizza and grill. We stayed for a night before an early morning flight from Gatwick, and will definitely stay again.

No double glazing (I'm guessing a listed building) so a bit noisy from the customers outside the pub downstairs. Won't stop us coming back though.

Great location. I'm a taxi driver from the Sheffield area, dropped customers off at Heathrow and needed to find accommodation near Gatwick for the following day for customers arriving at Gatwick. The cheapest room I could find in a 25-mile radius. Polite/helpful staff at the star. Serves food, Good selections of beers/wines. The room and bedding/ towels are fresh and clean and nicely presented. On suite bathroom + shower. If you don't want to take advantage of the food being served at the star ? 2 mins walk you have an option for an Indian restaurant/ Thai/ Turkish, and petrol station close by with a couple of local supermarkets.

A couple of negative points to make but this didn't affect my stay !! It's still a great place/location worth every penny !! But ... shower cubicle could do with a good fettle/ black mould in corners nothing a good blast of bleach couldn't cure or new grout. the water pressure little was low than what I'm used to but was ample enough to get a quick shower in the morning before checking out.

Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at The Star Inn. The staff were lovely, room was cosy and clean with all basic amenities. It's in an ideal location not far from Gatwick airport which was perfect for us after a very long day of traveling. We were the only people in the restaurant at breakfast time so very quiet and the food was delicious. Wouldn't hesitate to book with this place again!

Nothing we disliked!

Helpful reception on arrival, although they were busy. Large room with ensuite bath/shower. Were accommodated for supper although we had not reserved a table and the food was very good. The old village of Lingfield was a lovely surprise for an evening stroll. It was handy for an overnight stay before a morning flight from Gatwick Airport about 22 minutes drive away.

Decor was fairly basic, and a bit tired, especially in the bathroom. It was a very hot evening and night, so we had to open all the windows, and there was a lot of noise as we were situated directly above the vent from the kitchen. We were unsure of the procedure when checking out, where to leave the key. We ended up with another couple locked in the bar as the door we came through locked behind us. Luckily the breakfast chef let us out via the kitchen! 😆

The rooms are away from the main pub so there was no noise at all. The door to the room opened straight to outside which was really nice. The actual room itself was nicely furnished with all solid oak furniture and super comfortable mattress and pillows.

The biggest issue I had was the incredibly bright green light over the door. It was so bright it was light having a torch shone into my face every time I stirred during the night. The bathroom was also incredibly small. Not enough room to get changed in there at all.
