The room we stayed in was called Arundel and was spacious and clean, with good facilities, comfy bed, nice view, in a lovely setting. Check in was speedy and the front desk is open 24/7 presumably as they get a lot of custom from people arriving at Gatwick. The staff were all very friendly and professional. We were told that the bar is open 24/7 but we didn't use it. The grounds are very pleasant and we were able to have a quick explore before bed and met a very friendly black and white cat, although it isn't a resident of the hotel so your mileage may vary. The hotel does have to operate within the design constraints of being a 500 year-old listed building but our room was nicely done and had a lot of character. It didn't have any sort of air con or fan, but with the room being over 2 floors, opening all the windows allowed the hot air to quickly chimney away, so we were able to get a good night's sleep despite high temperatures of around 30C the day we arrived. Breakfast was delicious, high quality and sufficient for us. However, hungrier travellers may question a full English that doesn't come with toast. The dining room was full so we were seated in the lounge which if anything was a bonus as it was very comfortable and a little more private. There is also a continental breakfast option with cereals and pastries, but we didn't try that.
Main negative point was the shower temperature. One of the heads would not shift from molten and the other would alternate between lukewarm and quite hot despite me not touching the taps. I would happily stay again but might perhaps wake up a few minutes earlier and opt for running a bath instead.

The Manor is beautiful as are the surroundings. I upgraded to a luxury king room and it did not disappoint. The bathroom was wonderful and massive. It had a roll top bath, double sinks, toilet and bidet and the shower was huge with great water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and the black out curtains didn't let any light in whatsoever. It was so quiet in our room. We would not hesitate to stay again.
I ordered the fillet steak for dinner and it was awful. It was just a plate of fat and the chips that accompanied it where also not good. I did not eat it but at least they didn't charge me for it. It's a shame as the starter was very nice so I had high expectations for the main.

The house was a beautiful 17th-century timber-framed small manor house with a large car park and a secluded rear garden with a duckpond - ideal for a pre-dinner drink. The room was spacious with a view of the garden, and the en-suite had both a bath and a shower as well as two washbasins. We ate dinner at the hotel, and it was delicious. The wine list was shortish but well chosen and the service was attentive and not intrusive. Breakfast at the hotel was great, especially as it was cooked to order. Although the hotel is close to Gatwick you wouldn't know it - it was very quiet, inside and out.
One thing: the bath plug had no chain, so we couldn't remove it after bathing! For the rest there was nothing to complain of at all.

It felt like I should leave a review, as I thought it deserves a better rating. The place is absolutely charming, coming from a different epoque, you don't expect something like that in this countryside and so close to a major airport! The staff was very welcoming and friendly too. Our room was spacious and convenient for the cheapest room category, all the rooms are actually unique, as it is indeed a historic manor. Taken the generally high price level of hotels in the UK, this one offered a great value for money in our case, in my opinion.
The wifi reception could definitely be better, the signal was very weak and not stable, in our room at least. The food could be better too, I would call it mediocre. While our shower worked alright, my mother staying in a different room complained her shower had almost no water pressure. While these things might seem like quite some flaws, the atmosphere of the place as a whole makes up for everything regardless.

Lovely room overlooking the pond, I really enjoyed being able to sit out on the balcony with my early morning coffee
I would have liked a usb charging point… my fault as I had forgotten my own plug, but I would have expected rooms to have charging points…..however the staff were very helpful in finding me one to borrow. I also couldn’t find any information about onsite electric vehicle charging facilities …. As an EV driver it would be a bonus to be given directions to the closet ones . This didn’t affect the quality of my stay in anyway of course. It’s a shame that I wasn’t able to spend some more time exploring the beautiful hotel and gardens

Absolutely fabulous stay. My flight was cancelled and I had to book last minute stay and I couldn't choose better. Wonderful location just 7 min from airport, beautiful gardens and Christmas decorations. It had feeling like from a movie Holidays and I loved every minute of it. Greatest thanks to Natalie from Guest Services and all reservation team for helping me out in amending my stay and lovely free upgrade, arrangement of taxi and warm welcomes during storm. I will definitely come back for longer stay, and all thanks to Natalie. Thank you to housekeeping and F&B and Kitchen tram for fabulous stay.
Everything was perfect. Room, service, amenities, wifi, location just super extra class.

Stunning heritage building with beautiful gardens. Very good location for Gatwick airport. Room and bathroom was a good size.
It’s only my opinion, but theDining room was not very atmospheric. The Decor was nice, but the lighting was too harsh. It needs to be softened and cosied up. It needs a professional interior designer to take away glare. This hotel is nearly a 10 but it needs to be given a nudge in the furnishing side. A few nice cushions in the lounges and some side lights… My husbands food was good. My fish pie was very dry.

The room was huge, in a separate building from the main hotel. The bed was large and comfortable, with nice bedding and pillows. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. There was a coffee machine in the room, a table and chairs and a lovely sofa. A fan was provided which was great, because the room was warm. The staff were all friendly from the lovely receptionist to the staff in the restaurant. Dinner was generally quite pleasant. Most of the dishes we had were nice.
The bathroom fittings need updating. The décor in there was fine. The shower was really hard to turn off, almost broken. The tap to the sink was full of limescale, so sprayed all over the place (not in sink). The wooden blind behind the bed does not block out sunlight coming through that window early in the morning. Better window covering required. Where we sat in the restaurant, we had a full view of the kitchen (the makeshift screen was in the wrong position) and we could hear a lot of shouting and noise going on from there throughout our meal which was quite distracting. The first two courses were great, but the coq au vin had an very salty sauce and tasted like bisto gravy with no wine taste at all. It took a long time to be served to us.

King room upgrade was excellent in both bed and bathroom were excellent life-savers after appalling train experiences journey with SWR-------only wish we'd had more time to enjoy them after our wonderful white-linen Mulberry restaurant dinner looking out at serene private lawns and trees! --------- but we'll be back again to rectify that ------ just NOT on an SWR train, 5 platform changes; and NOT taking advice to get off at one stop early rather than Gatwick as 'better' for taxis to hotels!!-----HUH!!!
Wasn't able to give them 11 out of 10 in this survey, which i almost never respond to unless 'above-and-beyond' standard.

This is a beautiful very old hotel, yet so near to Gatwick airport. A great combination for us. We stayed in one of the rooms which have been newly built in the grounds, but in keeping with the charming old world style on the outside, but fully modern and very spacious. We took afternoon tea in the garden, and were lucky to sit in the sun, it was charming. The staff were all lovely, and very helpful with any requests. We forgot to bring our dog bed back to our car and they carefully kept it in reception for us overnight. They surprised me with a beautifully decorated chocolate brownie at afternoon tea to mark my special birthday.
Small maintenance issues, the tap on our swanky designer sink sprayed water when you turned it on, outside the edge of the round bowl. The TV remote was quite shabby, looked like it needed a good clean. Very minor compared with all the positives.
