The Curious Pig is an unpretentious inn with unfussy and functional room décor which matches the age of the building - for example the usual accoutrements of kettle, bottled water, cups, glasses, hot beverage options, menus and other literature were laid out in the bedroom on an old outbuilding door, complete with its original mortice lock and sliding bolt, resting on trestle legs, and the bedside shelves were reclaimed timber slabs. However, the bed and the en-suite bathroom were comfortable enough, even if some of the bathroom fittings were showing slight signs of aging. The menus offer good, honest pub grub in helping sizes which were overly generous for our appetites but which no doubt suit most diners. Staff were, without exception, smiley, lively and welcoming.

For a country inn, the only amenity lacking is any immediately adjacent footpath for an after-dinner stroll, so one is slightly confined to the premises by the passing road carrying traffic at speed - but there's nothing the establishment's owners can do about that.

The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout my stay. I found the room to be very comfortable and spacious and I enjoyed the use of "pig related items" such as door pegs, within the room, giving a subtle nod to the name of the pub. The bathroom was a little old fashioned in terms of its style, but it was very clean and functional. I did not eat in the evening, but breakfast was fantastic! The service was quick and both the portions and quality were exceptional.

I was awoken in the morning by some occasional road noise, but I don't think the hotel can do my about this to be fair.

The food here was amazing. We hadn't planned to eat an evening meal but as our day hadn't worked out as expected we thought it would be a good idea. Boy was that a great idea. The steak and ale pie was amazing, the team were brilliant making us feel at home. For breakfast I was treated to a very impressive interpretation of poached egg and avocado and it too was lovely. The bar and restaurant area are very homely/country style and made for a great time spent in them. We are very likely to stay here again.

There were a couple of little snags with the room which have been shared with the management and I feel sure that they will sort them out as otherwise this would have been a ridiculously excellent 10/10 stay.

The staff were exceptional nothing too much trouble . Food in restaurant was excellent . Quirky venue , great atmosphere. Would definitely come again . Especially if flying from Gatwick .

The door of the shower leaked and a lot of water ended up on the floor when showering . Could do with extra shelves in the bathroom for toiletry bags etc . We were disturbed at bit in the mornings by the footstep noise from up above which we think was the staff accommodation.

We stayed here around the same time last year and found it to be super noisy during the night with people leaving for early flights. Despite the noise, we enjoyed our stay so thought we’d try it again this year - our room was on a similar floor to the one previous but we weren’t woken at all and found it to be very quiet and peaceful. It’s a great location if you’re travelling to Gatwick Airport and the room was clean and cosy with everything you could need for a short stay. We’ll certainly be coming back next time we have an early morning flight.

There’s quite a few stairs - not ideal if you have a lot of luggage - but that’s pretty standard for an older property and didn’t really bother us.

Friendly staff. Very nice unique room which I liked. I booked last minute as I was let down by another Company and the young lady there was excellent and went above and beyond to help me sort out a room on the ground floor and a letter invoice to give the other company even though she didn't have to as it was booked via booking. Com. First rate service

No aircon ( they did have a fan and that combined with opening the window worked ok ). And whilst it didn't particularly bother me the dust on the fan and table leg was unexpected as the rest of the room was so clean.

This place is lovely. Rooms are very nice, staff were very good. We ate there for dinner and the food was good. The outdoor area at the back was very nice

I booked 2 rooms for 4 people breakfast included, to be told when we checked in we had only paid for 1 breakfast for each room, not sure how this works and we would have to pay for 2 more breakfasts. Surely when you book for 4 people breakfast included that’s what you should get. Very disappointing

Really enjoyed the chicken fajitas and cocktails. Breakfast was good value and tasty. Bed was pretty comfortable.

Desk area in room had no lamp which made that corner of the room very dark and gloomy. Bathroom was quite basic. No socket for electric toothbrush and very little room on the sink for a wash bag etc. Shower door was loose so had to use a towel to mop up the wet floor after using the shower. Restaurant was pretty busy so service was quite slow and patchy at times.

I did like the friendly atmosphere, the comfort of the room, the good food and the vicinity to LGW. As a Cabin Manager who lives in London and sometimes has to stay in the vicinity of the airport when the M25 is partially closed, being in the countryside but at only 12 mins from the North Terminal was fantastic. It is a pity that it is not possible to check out a bit later if the flight is in the afternoon. But I do understand that this accommodation is not in partnership with any airline. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it!

Christine and the staff were all lovely and really helpful. The room worked really well with our little dog as it was on the ground floor. Delicious breakfast al fresco too.

It was a little noisy in the late afternoon from the people in the beer garden but only to be expected I suppose. I didn't see any signs saying that people are staying and to be considerate about the noise levels which could possibly help.
