Staff were very friendly , especially the week end breakfast team . The £5 voucher for choosing to not get your room cleaned is a nice touch . Communication from the hotel prior to arrival and also being told about the noise and the event going on with the option to move hotels if I wanted too . Friendly and helpful reception staff. Breakfast was super yummy and fresh . Chef looked like he took pride in his work and seemed a lovely lad .

Noise from next door , although I can sleep through anything so it didn’t affect me . I was aware of this prior to booking so was not an issue with me as was prepared. Dark lighting in the rooms.

Great central location. Pleasant staff and atmosphere in the lobby and bar. Room was pleasant enough. Comfortable bed. Decent shower. We booked well in advance and it was very well priced, especially with breakfast included – for which the food was pretty nice.

Inside feels a little tired and not especially comforting. It feels like a let down considering how grand the building is, and how polished the entrance looks. We weren't overly affected by noise but it is far from quiet on Friday/Saturday nights – to be expected right in the city centre I suppose. While breakfast itself was pretty tasty, the room in which it's served is really unpleasant. That could do with work. Overall these things aren't overly important if you get a good price like we did.

Fantastic location, great service and facilities, friendly and co-operative staff.

During check-out I was handed a laundry bill, although I never used their laundry service. I immediately protested, in response to which the receptionist took the bill back. However, shortly afterwards, I received a bill by email with a link for payment. I called up the hotel and said that I did not use their laundry service. The lady on the other side accepted my claim and said that she would inform the hotel. There was no confrontation so to speak, but this served to slightly embitter my check-out experience.

The hotel is in a great location with plenty of places to eat and drink in walking distance of the hotel, as well as The Moor shops. It is a nice small quiet hotel and the square at the back of the hotel is just lovely to sit in and they had live music playing 2-5.00pm being it was a bank holiday. Our Room was very nice although would have liked a bigger window as it was only a sky light window which was rather high and did not bring in a lot of light, but as we were not in the room that much if did not matter. Bonus it had a fridge and very comfy beds and bathroom very good all round and clean. Breakfast was fabulous and great selection for cooked breakfast, lovely fresh fruit chopped up with granola and yogurts, together with cheese and salami which I love to have the option of that before I have my cooked breakie. The only think I would say would be nice to have pots of coffee and tea instead of a machine as this was not all that hot.

My error I did not check the booking confirmation but this hotel if you want to use cash you have to take photo ID like a passport or driving licence .. Reception were accommodating though and did change up some money for our tram back to station. In the room could do with having more sugars, teabags, coffee on tea tray, but that is just a small thing as everything was fabulous and will be returning

The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Sheffield. The decor is really nice and it is spacious & airy. We had twin rooms and there was lots of space. There was no hairdryer but on asking for one from a member of staff one was quickly delivered to our room. Staff were so helpful. Special call out to Angus on our day of arrival and the lady on reception on our departure day who extended our check till midday so one of our party could stay in the room a little longer. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. Would definitely stay here again when coming back to Sheffield.

Nothing it was such a nice hotel.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Central for Sheffield city hall and close to bars, restaurants and shops. Reception staff were friendly helpful and welcoming especially the lovely lady with an accent who checked us in (sorry I didn’t get her name) but she was incredibly friendly helpful and informative. The room was well equipped and a good size - the bed was huge and very comfortable Shower was great - powerful and hot. Drink making facilities were a welcome addition.

There was an ominous old stain on the bedroom carpet that requires attention from housekeeping as it tainted the overall quality of the room. The lad who was working the hotel bar was very snotty and not at all pleasant maybe he was just having a bad day but if not, he could do with learning customer care from the reception staff.

The hotel is in a fantastic place. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The toilet did not have a strong enough flush so sometimes didn’t get rid of the paper on the first flush. We did have a fridge in our room but it wasn’t working to start with. We were offered a new room but the kind member of staff came and sorted it for us so we didn’t need to move. We were glad to have a room at the front of the building so it was nice and quiet. The beds were very comfortable as were the pillows. We liked the offer of money off at the bar if we saved on room cleaning. A good incentive to be a bit greener. It was super helpful to have parking in a secure car park that was validated too. This was our second stay here and we would certainly look to stay here again.

The hotel is clean and well presented. Check in staff friendly We did have a couple of issues but as we were there just one night and the location is excellent for the City hall. We arrived after 6pm and left approx 7.45 am. So not there that long

The room was no 190. Apart from a sky light there was no window . The room was also right next to the door to the lift and you felt like you were cramped in . Only half of the dual electric socket worked . You could get a plug in the part nearest the wall and the other socket was inaccessible due to posit of the bed side table . The kettle has to be moved over to the table to plug in. This was made more inconvenient as only one socket worked One of the spare pillows was ripped and the filling coming out. We did leave it out so that it could be seen . I wish I’d taken photos now.

It’s a charming and pretty period property converted from a Victorian grammar school. Decor is simple, rooms a good size and it’s in easy walk of the peace gardens, good bars and restauarants of this massively under rated town. Check is efficient and the front desk staff helpful.

The rest of the buildings around the courtyard have been converted into low rent chain restaurants and independent bars. One such pumps out really loud drum n bass until 1:30am and the listing means the hotel can’t install double glazing. Better for young people this one I think.

Gorgeous building, very very nice rooms. Excellent location. Generally good service. Facilities are wonderful. You also get a bar voucher every night you request your room be left uncleaned.

During the night water started dripping out of the air con unit (at about 3am), onto where I had left my clothes. The dripping water was fairly extensive and continued for hours. I was unable to find staff to help, and had a disrupted night, which was disappointing given the room was £100+. In the morning I mentioned this at checkout and was told that maintenance would investigate, which was small comfort to me who has been left uncompensated for a fairly sleepless night.
