The hotel was conveniently situated for our needs. The place was comfortable, clean and the staff were very courteous, helpful and friendly. The air conditioning was a winner in the hot weather. The bathroom was well equipped and the shower was excellent, a good size and the seat was helpful. The bed was very comfortable too, the room had all you would need. I liked the small touches like the weights in the curtains…I notice things like that. The breakfast provided had a good variety of food and was very much enjoyed.

Personally I would have prepared a firmer pillow as I have neck problems.

Clean. Staff efficient and friendly.

Had to top and tail in bed with my son. On booking com had requested single beds but was given double bed as hotel only had that type of room available hence did not sleep well and spoilt it. I did inform staff and they checked if single beds available for the nights but there wasn't. Apparently hotel staff told me when booking with booking . Com there is something on site to say if you are happy to have any room available but I did not notice that when I booked. Next time I will book direct with hotel to make sure they do have the room I want available.

We got a very good price via booking.com and this means that everything is a bonus. The breakfast was good, limited but good. Breakfast by 30min slots. The area was in an business park so very quiet at night and ideal for us because there is a walk into town centre that took us about 40 mins. The hotel is very clean the staff are helpful and friendly and it felt perfectly safe. They also have a well stocked bar.

Having to book a 30min slot for breakfast. I 'hedged my bets' and booked a late slot but got down too early and sat and waited. Fortunately they have a very reasonable lounge area.

The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Comfortable room. The air conditioning was very welcome during the heatwave. Not far from a bus route into Shrewsbury.

The hotel is in a business park on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. Probably convenient for those with cars, but I was using public transport and hadn’t realised there are no buses in Shrewsbury on Sundays. The hotel had a direct link to a taxi firm who proved reasonable and reliable, but taxis are a lot more expensive than buses. The wifi was a bit erratic in my room. The hotel was very busy on the Saturday night and the wifi was struggling to get to 2 bars. However, on Sunday, with fewer people, it was fine.

Friendly and helpful staff. Large room, that was perfectly set to 18° when we arrived that night, so we could turn it off for sleeping. The beds and pillows were perfect. Blackout curtains - thank you! Fairly good breakfast.

Breakfast just gets 6/10. Science has moved on and full fat natural Greek yogurt is good for you. The scrambled eggs weren't the greatest, (sloppy/milky). Didn't see an option to boil an egg. Neither is those would stop me using a Holiday Inn Express again. I fact, the location, (away from noisy town centres, which are a pain for driving and parking) was a real blessing. Think this stay may have made HI Express my hotel of choice for journeys.

Room was on first floor with a lift being available to transport overnight bags. Room was spacious and had a fabulous shower with plenty of space and even an inbuilt seat to use if required. Always useful was the grab rail which is essential in a shower no matter how old you are. Floor of shower was non-slip so no need for the rubber mat provided. TV was easy to use.

This is not a criticism but rather a suggestion. It would have been useful to have a mirror on the wall over the unit housing the TV. This is a 'woman' thing as we like to sit down at a dressing table to do our make-up! Although there was a very comfortable swing chair in the room, it was very heavy to move therefore a normal chair would have been an asset. The next suggestion is not something I imagine you can do anything about due to safety regulations, but it was a warm evening and we would have liked to be able to open the window further to let in the fresh air.

Location was near to my meeting for the next day

As it was a business trip I need receipts to claim back my expenses. When I bought food and drink they said they would email me the receipts. I never received the emails. I reported this on check out and they took the details and said they would send them again. I've still not received them. Also, I left my 3 in one watch and phone charger plugged into the bedside table. I called them when I arrived home, they had a look and said it wasn't there. They said they would have a look again and call me back. Still waiting.

We love this hotel ,it is in a quiet area ,there is plenty of parking outside which is free to customers .We are always met by friendly smiling staff at reception who make the checking in process efficient and quick ,We had a standard double room on the ground floor there are stairs and a lift to the upper floor ,the room was very spacious and clean ,we weren't there to live in the room ,it was somewhere to get our heads down at night and so we were very impressed at how much space we had ,the bed was very comfortable too. Breakfast is included in the price which is an eat all you want Buffet style with plenty of choice from hot and cold food and drinks . There is a bar in the hotel and there is a menu for food if you fancy something to eat later with prices clearly shown ,there is also a vending machine for snacks like crisps etc . Even though the hotel is just on the outskirts of shrewsbury it is only a short Taxi ride into the town where there is so much choice for places to eat and drink to suit all tastes and there is a vibrant night life too . The hotel is close to major roads with links to the motor way .

Nothing we really enjoyed our short break it was very relaxing

Design/ layout and furnishing of the room could be improved: a. Two hooks required on back of main door to hang wet coats on. b. bedside tables: too small and lacked shelves/drawer below to hold books and box of tissues etc. c. Wardrobe: cluttered up and space taken up for hanging clothes with ironing board, iron, and hair drier. Ironing board moved to stand vertically at back of hanging space. d. Arm chair too low for sitting at table and writing., etc.
