carpark is very tight but it has got a carpark so all very good as trying to park on a pubic carpark they don’t seem to do 24hr parking off one payment so got to be to vehicle early in morning not ideal! So really recommend this hotel 👍

The location was excellent close to the town centre and close to the beautiful river and bridges. The staff were fantastic especially woody the night porter unfortunately through no fault of the hotel, there was some essential water works that needed to be carried out just outside our hotel, they were suppose to be finished by 10.30pm but this was not the case and the workmen decided they needed to blast their music out of their vans by 11.30pm we couldn't take any more and our very kind and apologetic night porter woody offered us an upgraded room at the back of the hotel. (The loft suite) Wow lovely room . And we were able to enjoy our stay.

The hotel itself is very quaint with lots of lovely spaces downstairs, the breakfast room is particularly characterful. The room was very comfortable, with lots of nice touches i.e homemade biscuits. The breakfast was excellent as were the staff at breakfast.

My room was quite noisy as it was by the road and the building has original windows, but it didn't wake me up. The room was quite small, but perfect for me as I was travelling alone - might have felt cramped with two.

The hotel was comfortable and had a nice feel. We were given 2 rooms as the first one had no working electrics. The 2nd room was much nicer and was on the corner of the building so not as noisy as I think the first one would have been which was right on the main street. I understand that there's nothing the hotel can do about that. We didn't eat there so can't comment on that.

The bar prices were very high and I think £15 for breakfast is very expensive when I would only have had tea and toast. There should be a different price for continental breakfast. We had 5 drinks during out stay and that cost £37 which is London prices.

Great location to explore the lovely town of Shrewsbury

These things are not meant to criticize but rather suggestions for improvement. We had the loft room, which was lovely, however a few things affected our sleep. We were unable to access the high window in the room to pull the blind down, which made it very bright in the morning. There was a stair light which we couldn't turn off which was also very bright. Someone decided to put the bins out at 6.40am, very noisy! One final point, it would be really useful to have a power point near the mirror, for hair drying etc.

Lovely hotel, simple but stylish, good location, really friendly staff and great breakfast. We stayed in a small studio on the side of the hotel which had a double bed and sofa bed - great for my friend and I.

The Studio room we stayed was lovely inside but right on the edge of the pavement/road so was a little noisy. You couldn’t have the curtains open as it was at street level. However the loudest noise came from the rooms above. Stomping footsteps/voices and doors opening and closing at times were quite loud at times. All that said we really enjoyed our 1 night stay.

Great Breakfast choice, and prompt service, from friendly but professional hotel staff, a very relaxed ambience. Rooms had everything we needed for a mini break, and were very clean and comfortable. Al a carte dinner choices were very good and our supper was delicious.

There was nothing really of fault with our stay and the most lovely thing was the relaxed but professional attitude of all the hotel staff members. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the lovely location of the hotel for river walks, exploring, and shopping.

The breakfast was excellent with a choice of continental or cooked food. The eggs royale were superb and the service was wonderful. The room was full of character and very clean. I have a garlic intolerance and they ensured my food was suitable which they could do as they prepare their meals from scratch. The staff were so friendly and helpful. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and we'd be very happy to revisit it.

Not so much didn't like, more ancient and modern being slightly incompatible. It's an historic inn and the archway entrance to the car park is very narrow as it was originally for coach and horses, but it does lend charm to the exterior! It is really only possible to come at it from the right hand side if you have a fairly wide car, and even then it's difficult. So we chose to park across the road in the NCP car park rather than risk damaging our car.

The staff were friendly and attentive and when there was a small hiccup with the booking they corrected quickly and hassle free. The room was exactly as advertised and them some, very beautiful and romantic and we couldn’t have asked for more!

Access to the car park was extremely tight and as a result we were unable to park there and had to source alternative parking. Also our room was directly above the restaurant and function room which was very noisy and sometimes made it difficult to access the room due to people standing in the way of the stairs.

amazing place with lots of characters and the staff were friendly. The pub was great and the mulled wine was a hit!

The room was nice and comfortable but quite basic for the price. it was £136 for one night in a small double room. It was my first time sleeping in Shrewsbury so maybe that's the go to price for the area but it felt quite pricey for one night. However maybe it was that price because of the time of year. Shrewsbury is stunning at Christmas. We still had a great time and would definitely return to lion and pheasant.
