The room was a good size, freshly decorated, comfortable and well supplied with tea/coffee making and washing products. An excellent, freshly cooked breakfast was included in the price. Well cooked and well priced evening meals were also available. The bar was open every day and there was some evening entertainment if required. An excellent location in the historic town centre just off a road, so good for access but no traffic noise. Very quiet at night. 15 minutes walk from rail station. 24 hour private access to rooms. An historic building so necessary to climb stairs. Helpful and friendly staff.

The location was perfect; close to the centre and many restaurants and attractions. Check-in was very easy and we were so pleased with our room. It was clean and modern, the carpet and decor all new, and it was spacious. The bed was comfortable. Our bathroom was across the corridor, but it was for private to us and was spotless. Breakfast was good, both full English and vegetarian catered for, or you can have smaller options like scrambled egg on toast or a croissant and jam. Very friendly service and the staff seemed to know and expect us. It feels very welcoming. It is a pub, but we found it quiet during our midweek stay, even when they had a pub quiz on.

There are many steps to reach the rooms, so do let the staff know when you book if you're not very agile. Some of the rooms might be more suitable.

Good location in walking distance of the station and in the town centre. Friendly staff. Nice characterful pub. Thought we just have a separate bathroom but we didn’t- it was ensuite. Great breakfast.

One bedside lamp was broken, we took it down to reception shortly after we arrived at 3pm and they said it would be repaired or replaced but we never heard anything else from them about it! It wasn’t a big deal, but a follow up would have been nice - even if just to say sorry we can’t give you a lamp tonight : ) Used my phone torch to find the loo in the night…

Absolutely wonderful the team were amazing so helpful and nothing was too much trouble checked in before our time no problem with leaving our luggage. The room was equipped with everything we needed bed was so comfortable and the duvet and pillows to die for.We had a delicious meal in the evening 2 meals for £16 great varied menu couldn't fault it. Breakfast awesome choice of cereal toast yogurt full English and I recommend the full English freshly cooked by the fabulous Wendy what a great stay I would highly recommend the old post office 👌👌😊😊 And smack bang in the middle of the centre of town 😊

Breakfast was freshly cooked and very nice. The bed and the room were comfortable. As The Old Post Office is a pub, there was noise, but it was muted and just background. I appreciated that, as part of the booking process, before you pay, the owners email you to tell you there will be pub noise. Most importantly, the staff were very friendly. Thank you! It is a 16th century building with associated quirks, like a cobbled courtyard and some narrow stairways, which added to the charm. I would be happy to stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Great staff, great breakfast. Location was perfect for us, just a ten minute walk from the station. Great to see Shrewsbury and Ironbridge. Jumped on a train to Chester one day too. Found some great pubs in Shrewsbury and Chester and the people are so nice.

The lighting isn't great in the rooms. The rooms have their own bathrooms but they are not attached to the bedrooms. It wasn't much of a problem for us. It's a lovely interesting building. Saturday nights can be noisy because of live music but I'm sure that's normal everywhere on a Saturday night in a busy town.

The Old Post Office had lots of charm and character. Although it was in the middle of the old part of Shrewsbury it was very quiet, you could sit out on the court yard and have a drink and natter a nd not hear anything. The room was quaint, clean , the bed was really comfy, there was everything you would need, plenty of teas and coffee in the room. The meal we had in the restaurant was superb, the barman was really nice and helpful. Breakfast was brilliant, the lady who served us was helpful and very cheerful, couldn't do enough The staff are lovely here.

I particularly want to mention the staff. Unfortunately, whilst we were staying at OPO my partner became unwell (no fault of their's, I hasten to add!). Staff showed care and concern, and were friendly and helpful towards us. When we decided to go to A+E a lady called the taxi for us and waited with us until the taxi came. In all our inter-actions with the staff they struck me as genuinely good humoured and helpful people. Food was also decent and came in good sized portions. I enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast.

The only reason I marked the facilities down a tad was that there was a slightly loose toilet seat in the bathroom. I should probably have drawn attention to it. I complimented the food. But also thought that at breakfast time it might have been nice to have some fresh fruit around, and I wouldn't have minded the option of a veggie sausage with my breakfast.

The location is nearly in the centre of Shrewsbury. The room was pleasantly warm and also the bed comfy and both being a nice size . It was a real bonus to be able to open the window for fresh air during my stay when it was warm. The option to purchase a small meal in the evening was really good, the spaghetti Bolognese I bought as a small meal was really good value and was an appetising meal. And the stay was good value for two nights.

Breakfast during the week was only until 9am.

As advertised, a genuine building with character and charm. It makes a great change from a premier inn. Location right in the city centre but in a quiet courtyard. I was there mid-week so it may be different on the week ends with live music. I had dinner at the pub twice and both meals ( slow-cooked belly pork and lamb shank ) were really well prepared. The bar had a good selection of beers. Both the room and the meals were great value for money.
