The location was excellent. The service was good and the staff friendly. I really liked the décor throughout the hotel - soft and very appealing. All the wallpapers were really tasteful and well co-ordinated to me! It all looked in good condition and well looked after. Our dinner on the first evening was good - soup for starter - excellent. My pasta main course was 5*. Dessert not quite as good but fine! I would stay again if needed a hotel in that area. Not something I have said about most places I've stayed at. So a first class rating from me!
The breakfast was fine - toast brought out too early so cold by the time we were ready to eat it. Unfortunate to have a second floor room with no lift. Stairs tiring. Hair dryer not brilliant. Would have liked a bigger bed but presume that would be the case if paying for a suite!

Everything. It’s just a perfect place to spend special occasions. We got married here 4 years ago and went back to celebrate our child’s first birthday. Staff were excellent and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They truly care. Such kind and warm people. They made sure we are comfortable and catered to our requests. Staff were also really good with children. They made sure that they are as important. We had our room upgraded and it was the same room we stayed on our wedding night (staff were so thoughtful) - they even left birthday greetings on our daughter’s cot. So much nostalgia. Such a special thing to come back here and relieve our memories while making new ones. The room was kept clean, comfortable and perfect. Its beauty is well preserved. The food were fresh and high quality. Definitely worth recommending! Lots of spaces for parking (and it’s free). If you’re looking for a place to stay, celebrate, get married or just escape the busyness of this world, this is the perfect place. The beautiful greens and gardens are worth the drive. Everything is picturesque.

The breakfast was very good, both the hot and cold selection. Nice big pot of tea . The building and grounds are beautiful. The bed was huge and very comfortable.
Our room was right at the top of the castle ,50 stairs up with 4 more down to our room. It didn't really bother us but we puffed a but with the suitcase as there are no lifts. The room was smallish but large enough for a huge bed. We could only see out of the top part of our window as the bottom was obstructed by what I think was part of the battlements. Hiwevernone of this distracted fron our stay.

As soon as I arrived the staff were absolutely amazing, nothing is ever too much trouble. I travel a lot for work and so am by myself when I stay away but I was made to feel just like one of the family. The hotel its self including my gorgeous 4 poster bedroom was immaculate, large and one of the the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. The breakfast list was really good, everything you could think of was on it. It arrived piping hot and was delicious, I didn't eat in the evening but I'm sure the food and menu here would be second to none also. The grounds and gardens are very pretty and great for walking/jogging around. When ever I'm working in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas I always stay overnight but I usually stay in a large modern hotel with spa, gym and pool. However, Rowton Castle has impressed me so much that I'll be using this place from now on and do with out the gym/pool.
As it is such an old grade II listed property there is no lift but just lots of stairs. My bag was really heavy and wearing 4 inch stiletto's didn't help, but I'm sure if I asked someone would have carried my bag for me.

The breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The staff extremely helpful, we have stayed in many places around the world and in this country and this has to be the friendliest, cleanest and efficiently run establishment we have visited. Superb we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you.
Room 20 should be off limits to the elderly or disabled, but it was a nice room just lots of stairs to climb. Perhaps a lift would help the housekeeping team ?

We stayed after Glastonbury on our way home and we loved the castle !! We felt very fancy. The staff were so so lovely. The breakfast was fast and tasty and peaceful. The water pressure in the taps and shower were so SO good, better than at home !!
Well the floorboards squeak a little but that’s to be expected in an old building !

venue was exceptional, a beautiful building inside and outside. lovely gardens and walks. The public area was well maintained and spotlessly clean, tastefully and elegantly decorated and the room was clean and spotless. Very comfortable and spacious. breakfast and dinner were both of exceptional quality. The staff were all so welcoming and warm towards us. loved our stay and hope to visit again soon. thank you to all

The castle was stunning, clean and rooms large and beautifully furnished. Gardens also beautiful. The receptionist and staff very friendly and attentive.
The bed was uncomfortable (but that is more about me liking a soft bed than an issue with the bed) We did find the room too hot (top floor) - small fans in cupboard did help and I think lower levels wouldn’t have been as hot.
