Absolutely beautiful hotel which is maintained to 5 * standard. The staff and management are friendly, accommodating and go above and beyond to ensure that the guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay.

The friendliest Hotel I've ever stayed in. Good old fashioned service and nothing too much trouble. Food in the restaurant excellent. Lovely breakfast service. A comfortable and cosy hotel. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Little extras like welcome pack and a card to say who had cleaned your room were nice touches. Ample tea and coffee msking facilities, hairdryer and fan in my room. Suitcase taken upstairs. Very impressed. I didn't want to leave and would stay there again. A very good budget hotel.

The shower was slightly basic and couldn't control temperature. But it didn't matter that much. Initially I was concerned about my window view being a power generator but it was shut down at around 22.00 and didn't keep me awake. These are minor points though.

Very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. Really great food with a good selection for vegans (I'm not a vegan but had a couple of vegan meals because they looked good) all well above average and a pleasant surprise. We had breakfasts, Sunday lunch and evening meals. One thing to note: the meals are enormous so think about the small plate options or sharing unless you have a good appetite. Nice lounge area where we could sit and relax e.g. after breakfast. Well stocked bar for the evenings.

Difficult to think of anything. Maybe a lift to upper rooms would be nice.

The staff were great - friendly, welcoming, accommodating and efficient. We felt well looked after during our stay. We had dinner at the hotel a couple of evenings and thought the food was very good. The White Hart is an excellent base for visiting Heligan, Eden Project, etc. (especially for non-drivers like us) and when we weren't out and about we found the bar and lobby area a congenial spot to spend time.

Nothing about the hotel. The centre of St Austell itself looks a bit shabby these days, with a lot of shops closed down, which was a bit sad to see. We hope things pick up for the town soon.

The location just down from train/bus station was great. From the moment we walked in the door and checked in with Andrew to the moment we left and checked out, we were made to feel like part of the family. The hotel is full of character and our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The wonderful part of this hotel though, is the bar/restaurant/reception area. This is because all of the staff, Migel, Kai, Kath to name a few, go above and beyond to ensure you're having a good time. The food here was excellent every meal. We stayed 3 nights and ate breakfast and dinner here every day. Thank you for saving us a Sunday dinner, Kath, it was amazing. There was a wonderful jazz singer on the Saturday night and a fantastic atmosphere in the bar. We also enjoyed the bar music. Nothing was too much trouble and we were able to leave luggage to collect later, thanks. This is among the top hotels that we have stayed in, mainly due to the staff and quality of food.

It would be helpful if there were a few more hangers or hooks in the room. We didn't ask, but firmer pillows would be good

Breakfast was excellent and very good value for money. Plenty of choice and fresh, hot food. Staff were very welcoming, polite and attentive. The room was comfortable and clean as was the bathroom. Good shower too. The karaoke was entertaining and finished on time as advertised. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was good and enjoyed a few drinks from the well stocked bar. Free parking which is always a bonus. Would stay again.

If I had to be picky I would lose all the artificial flowers around the hotel and maybe have some more comfortable furniture in the bar/lounge area. St Austell is a great base for exploring the whole of Cornwall from. It’s a shame that it seems to be a little run down and tired.

I had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both of which were nice and good value- I did have a quick walk around near the hotel and nothing was open to eat at- well maybe 1 pub but I am not sure they served food! Room was clean and tidy and had everything I needed. Staff were friendly.

Breakfast was nicely cooked but expected toast and it came with potato (I didn't read the menu properly and made the wrong assumption) Coffee was not great. Both meals I asked for water and got a tiny glass- be great to get a big jug. The town was completely dead but i was there for work trip so not an issue for me.

Room was comfy, warm and cosy. this is an old building so expect a few creaks and distressed woodwork as you would a building of this age. It is not super modern like some places, but I prefer to stay in places with character. Everything worked as expected, plenty of hot water and a bath. TV, hairdryer, spare fan and ironing facilities. Liked the fact there was a dressing table with mirror, close to a plug socket to dry your hair. Breakfast was piping hot and service was excellent. they also have cereal and Yoghurt on request. didn't stay for dinner, but looked good and they have lots of regular locals, so must be good.

nothing i didn't like

The hotel was an older building and the room was good but is probably about ready for some modernising. The bathroom suite was clean and well presented, but a little dated. Same goes for the bedroom, but overall, the experience was good. The main thing was the floors were all uneven, for example there was no gap at the left side of the room's door, but on the right side was a 2 inch gap under the door. There was a distinct sag in the middle of the room (room 17 - AKA Cookworthy).

I stayed with my partner and I honestly cannot fault it apart from the karaoke on the Friday which didn’t stop until 11pm but I was aware of this, the staff were amazing and friendly and would do anything for you , food was amazing and if you like large meals this is the place to go our room amazing

Myself and my partner as guests were sat awaiting for our food when a woman started telling staff that they were lazy and needed to make sue that they needed make sure everything was done which myself and partner didn’t think was appropriate also my partner is a health and safety officer and he observed a member of staff standing on a chair not a pair of steps to reach a bottle from the top shelf
