The Tarbet Hotel is an old style, 'proper' Hotel, overlooking Loch Lomond. The Loch is just across the road, with a large grassy area, access to the water and the jetty where boat trips go from. A grand entrance, revolving door and a big stairway. In addition to the bar and dining areas, the downstairs has a little lounge area, comfortably furnished, if you want to have a bit of privacy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a very spacious standard double, the bed was comfortable and the shower was very good (there's nothing worse than an 'eco' shower that just lets out a dribble!) The breakfasts were very good. Tasty sausages and bacon, nicely cooked scrambled egg. The evening meals were a bit limited in choice, but were good quality.

Excellent location for the dog as loads of walks on the doorstep. All the staff were lovely towards my dog. Looks like the property has been going through refurbishment as the room was very clean for being a pet room. The meal was excellent!

When we arrived no one was at the reception after 10 minutes of waiting went to the bar to ask. A lady came through to look at the back room and proceeded to say she would be back in a minute and she didn’t want to touch anything. Another 10 even 15 minutes went by and finally someone came to reception to check us in. The room was stuffy and went to open the window to find the glass pane cracked and the window could not be opened. Went downstairs to let my dog out for last pee and ask what a glowing blue button meant to find no one at reception once again. This time didn’t bother to wait.

Bar and dining facilities were excellent. Reception area was welcoming and atmospheric on entering the bar area we were greeted by a very attentive barman. Evening meal was delicious and well served by attending staff as was the delicious breakfast. All members of staff we came in contact with were friendly and efficient and professional. The bedrooms were clean and tidy and the bed comfortable with lovely fresh linen and the bathroom towels were white and soft. My only criticism would be that the decor was a bit tired with water marks on the ceiling which could do with a refresh but apart from that we had an enjoyable stay. I would return.

Apart from the tiredness of the room nothing else springs to mind.

Me & my husband stayed here for 3 nights for a short break away for my birthday. The hotel is amazing with a rustic & modern design. The hotel is situated across the road from the loch, so gives amazing views from all parts of the hotel. Easy access to hiking trails aswell as bus routes to visit neighbouring villages, the pier is also across the road for loch cruise & a local cafe. The bar & restaurant are top tier! Food & cocktails are amazing couldn't fault anything. The staff definitely make this hotel, always happy willing to chat and give recommendations. The bedroom are rather spacious, extremely comfy beds and amazing views from the windows. We cannot fault this hotel at all, everything was perfect for my birthday trip and we are already planning our next trip for the summer!

Friendly, welcoming staff are the hotel’s best assets. The Tarbet Hotel was better than I had feared from the reviews. You have to accept that it is an old property and is listed. If you judged it slowly by its rotten and crumbling window frames it would be a disaster. However it is clear that the new owners have invested in new carpets and furniture and the bedroom was comfortable and had a double aspect lake view which we enjoyed. The Hotel has character because of its imposing 19th century external appearance and the beautiful wooden panelled staircases. Breakfast was good, none of the shortages identified by some previous reviewers. The staff were quick to respond to every request.

We loved the location and views from the hotel. The breakfast was lovely and the staff serving were polite and friendly. When I asked for natural yoghurt they went and got some in a dish for me. Further to this the ambience in the bar at night was lovely and there was plenty of choice and the staff helped in choosing our whisky preferences

The only couple of things I’d mention is that the mattress felt uncomfortable and perhaps needs replacing as it was very soft and the cover was quite thin. When we checked in we were also requested to supply our card details on demand (even though we had already paid) which i understand if you want to open a tab but we didn’t want to and use contactless phones. This was insinuated we provided this and did feel somewhat uncomfortable.

This is better than staying in a castle. It looks like a Manor House. The reception rooms and little lounges are lovely. Dining was perfection. I couldn't believe it when the chef came out to talk to me!! Breakfast was really a delight. Only place we stayed that had fresh fruit along with everything else to make a true Scottish breakfast. The hotel even had an elevator. The location right on Loch Lomond just can't be beat. The boat tours are just across the street. Even just one night was magical.

Stayed here for 1 night this weekend as a last-minute getaway. Very good deal for our twin room, breakfast, and 2 dogs. The staff were very friendly, The food was fantastic. Our room was really big and great value for money. The hotel is very dog friendly and the staff love dogs too, which was really great. Will definitely stay back here again as the whole package was fantastic value for a getaway in a fantastic location.

Recommendations. Make people aware in the winter time that the hot taps and shower would need approx 5 mins to warm up as older hotel and also how the locks work on the room doors.

Nice location to spend a couple of nights on our Scotland trip. Lovely traditional hotel. Friendly staff. Great food. Good sized room. Free onsite parking. View over the loch. Ww would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in the area.

Room was beautiful and mostly very clean but a bit cobwebby above the curtains. Would have been nice to have had a fan as it was a bit warm and the gorgeous sash windows didn't open very much. It would also have been nice to have a choice of pillows as they were a bit too firm for us.
