It was an extremely hot day and night and we were very grateful for the fan that you put into our room (22) The staff were really friendly they helped us check in on arrival and kept our bags for us while we had to go out the next day. We had a meal in the evening and it was excellent And the staff waiting our table were very kind and professional The location was wonderful for us Everywhere look clean and inviting And welcoming

A very late check-in at 3 pm we arrived at 2 pm but weren’t allowed in our rooms she very kindly kept our bags for us though. It would be nice to be able to have a bit of an earlier check-in

We’ve stayed in this hotel twice previously and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I requested the Red Room which had the 4 Poster Bed, Red Chaise Lounge & Chandeliers which absolutely I 🥰🥰 As I was celebrating my 50th on the Monday, my family treated me to a long weekend to Thirsk 😊 I absolutely love this hotel & Thirsk itself & would love to come back again 🥰🥰

It was way too hot in our room, we couldn’t fully switch off our radiator & since I was sleeping next to it, I did not sleep well for the first 2 nights we were there. We moved the chaise lounge over to the window so we cool down whenever needed. Also the window (understandably had to be locked at a certain height) .. however it’s not much of air circulation & with the radiator on constantly - feels like a heatwave 🥵🥵

The staff were amazing and seemed to treat everyone with a personal touch, wether they were there for coffee or a guest in the hotel. We felt spoiled (as did our dog) and had a great time!

Nothing, it was absolutely perfect!

The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The room was clean. The only little downside was that it was very hot. We couldn't turn the towel rail off, and it had been a warm few days weather wise. Thankfully, we had a fan in the room, which helped. Car parking is available at the rear of the hotel and a seating area outside for when the weather is warmer.

Breakfast was slow on the first day, although we had been warned that due to Thirsk races being on and the hotel being rather full, to try and avoid later breakfast times.

Friendly efficient welcome on arrival - Thank you for the room upgrade . Allocated a room overlooking market square with a rather splendid four poster bed which was very comfortable. Spacious room with antique/vintage furnishings, liked the additional touch of games box and playing cards on the table and the chaise longue was a good TV watching position:). Clean compact bathroom with good towels and over bath shower. Very good tea tray with biscuits and also bottled water. Dinner, with pleasant table service, an enjoyable experience. Breakfast - choice and presentation excellent.

restaurant service was good. Location in town centre was excellent and in easy reach of alternative restaurants (Chinese within 100m, very good). Room cleanliness and housekeeping brilliant. Reception very helpful.

WiFi didn't work in the room (had to go in main building to use). Bathroom far too small. Didn't need the coffee machine or radio which just took up space on the desk and were a nuisance when I wanted to use the desk. Windows part of the building character but in need of overhaul so they could be opened and closed easily. Room that we occupied is apparently being altered in next few weeks.

The room was lovely. Bed exceptionally clean. The bathroom could do better. The extras were amazing. Drinks and snacks ect. Dining room is lovely. Lovely young blonde girl serving was lovely. The food was nice. Just a shame my eggs royal had hard eggs and not runny! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Over all it’s a lovely place to stay. If we came back to thirsk we would stay here again.

A couple of the older staff members (dining / bar) could be a little more diplomatic when dealing with customers. I appreciate it’s a stressful job but it’s a job of choice. We all know hospitality is hard at times but the customer is usually right. Sadly we had a strong smell of drains in room 7. I know that can’t always be helped but just a heads up.

I found the staff very friendly. The location in the town is good. Nice restaurant.

The bathroom was a bit tired and the annexe room hot, but thankfully there was a fan. Without it, we couldn't sleep. Very busy car park, so we had to pay for parking out the front until a space became available. I also found lots of little beasts in my fruit in the morning. The waitress said she'd check the other bowls and very quickly came back to say they were clear. I didn't find the insects until I'd lifted the bowl and removed the cling film, so must've disturbed them. So not convinced other bowls were clear.

Excellent location overlooking the market place. Good parking at rear - Charming reception on arrival - A delightful place to stay which is why planned a return visit - room very comfortable - bed and pillows 10/10 Bathroom, compact squeaky clean with very generous toiletries . Lovely coffee shop - comfortable lounge - Dinner - very good. Breakfast equally so. Summer or Winter Thirsk is a charming town to stay.

Not being able to stay a little while longer !!!

A beautiful hotel in a central location with lots of restaurants & pubs nearby. Most of the staff were friendly & welcoming. Bedroom was comfortable with good mattress & pillows. We both found it very quite & had a good sleep. Bathroom had a bath & shower with lots of hot water. Breakfast had a good selection & what we had was lovely.

The only fault we found with the room was a dirty mirror. It looked like something had been sprayed on it. We had a warm welcome from most of the staff apart from our last morning where the man on the desk completely ignored us when he clearly saw us. At breakfast we had a dirty cup which had lipstick on it. I know these seem small faults but for a 4 star these things shouldn't happen.
