Location: On no.12 bus route from Newton Abbot to Torquay. Very convenient. Hotel: Beautiful 12ft high ceilings, gorgeous sitting room with massive bay window overlooking Torquay town. Good quality carpets throughout including booked room. Clean facilities and solid pine furniture in the room. Comfortable bed and clean ensuite shower room. Breakfast: Full English (bookable variety of choices) served hot straight from the kitchen perfectly cooked and presented. Excellent pot of coffee with hot toast butter and marmalade. Absolutely spoilt !. Both Clare and Stuart are very welcoming and helpful throughout the week I was there. I couldn't fault it, certainly deserved the 4 star rating . Will certainly return on my next visit to Torquay.

Claire and Stewart were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, tidy and felt safe. There was a TV in the room and a kettle with supplies for making tea or coffee. Towels, shampoo and shower gel were provided for the ensuite shower room. The cooked breakfast was great and set me up for the day. There was plenty of information available in the reception area about places to visit whilst in the area including the buses and land train. The bus stops were very close and the sea front was a short walk of about 20 minutes. There is a lounge area for guests to use and a folder of information in the guest room regarding Ashwood Grange including wifi information. Torre railway station is about 4 minutes away.

Ashwood Grange is a fantastic place to stay! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and felt right at home. The property is beautifully maintained, and the peaceful atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms are spotless, nicely decorated, and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We appreciated the little details, like the well-stocked tea and coffee tray. Breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of fresh options. The hosts clearly care about providing a top-notch experience, and their personal touch made our stay even better. They were especially accommodating with our autistic child, offering a calm and understanding environment that made the stay enjoyable for our whole family. Their thoughtful approach really put us at ease. They, offered helpful local recommendations, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Their genuine care and commitment to their guests' comfort is truly commendable. Overall, Ashwood Grange offers outstanding service, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable accommodations. We highly recommend it.

I have stayed in a lot of B & B/ Guest House type accommodation over the past few years and this was probably my favourite. It sets the bar high. Price was very reasonable out of season (March), even for Room 2 (a double). I am used to poky single rooms as a solo traveller. There is a lovely lounge with a great view. Quite an upmarket ambience, with high Victorian ceilings. Very clean and well maintained. The owners (Claire and Stuart) are lovely, helpful, friendly people. I have never had more attentive service at breakfast. A short walk from Torre railway station. Very helpful when I struggled to access the internet.

No much to not like. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Lock on my bedroom door was iffy and life expired. Parking in their car park might be tricky for a driver like me if full, as on a steep slope. Fortunately it was empty!

The friendliness of both Claire & Stewart. We left feeling they were our friends. Everything we needed was accommodated for, right down to Claire putting our wet swimming clothes on the line to dry for us. Accommodated my grand niece to stay 1 night with us, which was not previously booked. Having peppermint tea available. Delicious breakfast to our full freshly made for our choice. Was able to leave our luggage after check-out. The helpfulness of getting around was so good. The location was excellent as the bus stopped just a few metres outside. Overall, it was excellent as we were all very happy and would come back again.

The single bed mattress was not comfortable. Found it a bit hard. As soon as I lied down, I felt uncomfortable. My daughter felt the same as I swope for the double bed.

My stay at Ashwood Grange was amazing! The hosts, Clare and Stuart, were extremely friendly, knowledgable, welcoming and always happy to help with advice and answer any queries. Very comfortable double bed, en-suite, with brew making facilities and a television in my room. There is a reason that there was a notice on Booking.com saying that they are not on there very often, which is because they are normally fully booked because of the top level of service that is offered to their guests. Fully recommend staying there. Although I did not book in for breakfast, the menu looks great. Varied with plenty of choices. Lovely location, a few minute walk from Torre Train Station, with bus stops to Torquay centre a minute or so away and departures during the day of approximately every 10 minutes. Perhaps the best recommendation that I can give would be… Would I stay there again? YES and I fully intend to.

A short walk from Torre station and a lovely warm welcome, with lots of information about what to do next Everything thought of, in the room. Excellent full English breakfast. Good bus links into the town centre and the seafront. Remarkable value for money.

Rather far out of town, but a good bus service which runs late into the evening, and on Sundays. Light sleepers at the front of the building might notice noise from the road on a weekday morning.

The owners were lovely nothing was to much trouble.the landlady was completely full of knowledge. The hole house was spotless. Breakfast cooked to order and was perfect. A bonus was the bus stop right outside and bus prices were cheap.

The shower was not working properly but informed landlady and it was sorted.there is a problem with water pressure and takes a good few minutes to heat up. But this was the only problem.i asked the other guest how theirs was and they said theirs was fine.

Certainly appreciated the fact Ashwood Grange happily caters for solo travellers with a realistic tariff. Perfect for business trips, working stop overs and, in my case, leisure. Claire the host is such a vibrant lady and clearly nothing is going to be a problem, with so many years experience, with her husband, as Hoteliers. My initial impression was that the decor was tired, but that perception very quickly turned into 'homely'. Everything is in keeping with the building and maintenance is clearly important to the owners. All is decorated to a good standard and crucially important, it is spotlessly clean. Faultless! The breakfast is gorgeous and my special request for Earl Grey tea (and plenty of it, thank you) was warmly provided and greatly appreciated. The location of Ashwood is on one of the access roads into town, as so many are, so be mindful if you are sensitive to slight road noises. I would expect the rooms facing over the valley to be better in this respect. Although Ashwood appears to be on the outskirts of town, in reality, the walk to the seafront is quicker and shorter than you would expect. Admittedly, going back will feel a little longer! There is a bus stop close by, if you are so inclined. During my three night stay, it was unusually quiet at Ashwood and indeed everywhere else in Torquay from what I noticed. The weather has been miserable for so long, but surely the 2024 summer season can't be that far away. I would suggest any weather in Torquay, is better than any weather at home. Highly recommend.
