Friendly staff, nice old property in a good location (despite the rock slide blocking the road towards town centre), with great views. Our room was large and had a good-sized, comfortable bed. Lovely to have a Nespresso machine in the room, with the pods replenished daily. We enjoyed our stay.

We were advised at the time of booking that our room is above the bar, but I did not expect to hear the heavy base from 8am to 11pm, considering there was hardly anyone around. This could have potentially been resolved by isolating the speaker of the floor / walls, but turning the extra-base button off also helped. Would prefer a sofa / armchairs instead of the bathtub in the room (some other rooms offer this, so may book that next time we in IOW).

We enjoyed the beach view from our room. The room was big enough for our family (2 adults and 2 children). The private steps down to the beach are really useful. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice for children and adults too. The buffet offered plenty of choice. My children particularly enjoyed the hot danish pastries in the morning with a hot chocolate. The building itself is very unique and the hall and restaurant are both beautifully decorated

Shame there are no allocated parking places or car parks for a hotel. We were lucky enough to find a space nearby and then when places became available we moved the car closer but this could be an issue for some. Our room has been tidied up every day but unfortunately it hasn't been hoovered not even once. Otherwise we had a lovely time and we really enjoyed our visit. The back door was closed one day when we were coming back from the beach and we had to walk around to get into the hotel but it only happened once so it wasn't a big issue.. I asked the lady at the reception why it was closed and she said she didn't know it was closed and hadn't heard the bell apparently. However she just looked like she didn't care at all but as I said it only happened once.

Amazing deluxe room with Wraparound balcony to great sea views. Luxury big bath, big enough for 2, bedroom also with seaview! Plus ensuite shower. Great value booking. Receptionist was very helpful and she was also our waitress at breakfast who explained the menu price options really well. The hotel is in a super part of Ventnor with a nice private, but steep shortcut to the beach. The road was part of a landslip closure but info provided through Booking.com very helpful.

Receptionist was young and helpful but could have briefed us better on arrival about Ventnor Fringe info, perhaps stock programmes ?, as well as the shortcut to beach and the unique features of the hotel. But this isn't a criticism! Bed was a bit too soft for me but that's just me !

we know ventnor really well and have owned a house and then stayed at the airbnb on belgrave road for several years. our friends stayed at the wellington last time and that’s how we came to know about the ibiza party. the location is fabulous, hearing the waves so close is really special and our view/balcony were second to none. the room was spotless and quiet at night and the bed was really comfortable

um I hate to criticise but I was an airbnb host for some time and it’s good to get helpful comments yes?! biggest problem was the staff I’m afraid. chaotic, not professional, lack of knowledge, a bit too casual if one is expecting boutique hotel standards? second issue: breakfast. unorganised, things missing, not slick at all, which is such a shame as breakfast is a great thing to get right. lastly no espresso pods for the machine!! even two would be great to start, and a note re co-op selling more (or even in the hotel?) it’s great to see a machine but then so sad when ones taste buds are tickled to have to go find pods!!

Really like this hotel, I visit the Isle of Wight regularly for work and this has become my go to place to stay. Superb Views and room with a balcony which is nice to enjoy at any time of year

No complaints from me, but be aware of the lack of parking before you book. This hotel is only suitable if you can walk at least 500m with your luggage unless you are getting dropped by taxi or other as parking cannot be reserved and has always been full when I’ve visited. This is fine for me, but may not suit other travellers. £30 per night for a dog is quite expensive.

A few issues could be improved Sofa could be cleaner Bacolny table had bread crumbs left from before customers Room could have air conditioner will be more comfortable in summer nights( especially with family room, parents can't open the bacolny door in case children climb out in the night, its very dangerous), so we have to close the bacolny door, only the two little top windows on bacolny door weren't cool enough in night

The room was very large and well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. The mini fridge was very useful for us. The sea view room had exceptional views and there was a very nice pub nearby for dinner. Breakfast was included in the room price and was very good value for money and had fruits, yoghurt and breakfast pastries to enjoy. Check in and checkout were very quick

Very well looked after by the staff, wonderful food, beautiful views, amazing cocktails. We got caught out one night by local restaurants being closed and our wonderfully attentive hotel concierge reopened the kitchen just to ensure we had something to eat. We had a truly lovely time at the Wellington.

The local council aren't supporting local businesses by leaving landslides blocking off access roads. No fault of the hotel but worth mentioning.

without exception, all the staff were friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent with a stunning view across the bay. The breakfast was freshly prepared every morning, offering a good variet of choices.

Unfortunately, we had to draw management's attention on one occasion to a poor attempt at housekeeping in the room. This was rectified quickly and satisfactorily. Parking facilities in fron of the hotel are extremely limited, although we managed to find a space on most occasions (footnote: the curtains in room 20 require some professional attention)

We were sharing a family room and the bunk bed mattresses weren’t the most comfortable but obviously designed for a child to sleep in so that was expected. It was also quite overly warm in the room and hallway (think the heating may have been on despite it being very warm summer weather?)
