This hotel pleasantly exceeded my expectations. the rooms were absolutely spotless, which sets the right tone. The room had everything you would need to make your stay comfy, a fan, A/C, TV, tea/coffee station etc. The bed, duvet and pillows were gloriously comfortable, leading to a perfect nights sleep. Steve, the owner, is also very welcoming, approachable and has put a lot of thought and detail in to making Chapter 1 beautiful place to lay your head after a busy day. The breakfast was delicious, the coffee perfect, all while taking in the morning sea views. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

While Chapter One’s goal is to make your stay “your story,” it’s impossible to miss the amount of love and care that Steve (“the Narrator”) has poured into this hotel. The rooms and common areas are filled with unique, thoughtful details that give the place so much charm and personality. Steve is an exceptionally warm and hands-on host. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel truly welcome—offering great local recommendations and going above and beyond by including his personal mobile number in the guest handbook, just in case we needed anything during our stay. The location is perfect—right across the street from the beach, with plenty of great restaurants nearby and a couple of cozy pubs just steps away. Whether you’re here to relax or explore, it’s an ideal base. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a stay that feels personal, memorable, and full of heart.

The welcome from Steve was friendly, the decor and furnishings were great, as was the sea view from the 1st floor front bedroom. The continental breakfast was lovely.

Shame the bathroom was a bit on the pokey side, especially the sink being very small. No choice of hot breakfast (apart from porridge). Traffic (road sweeping trucks, buses, and motorbikes) and late night/early morning drunks made getting a good night's sleep tricky, even though earplugs were provided, I personally don't like sleeping with them in my ears.

We had a professional and warm welcome by the owner. The property is beautifully decorated we had a very comfortable stay in a relaxing atmosphere. Lovely continental style breakfast featuring delicious warm croissants, fruits, yoghurts and local produce.

I found the air con unit spoiled the ambiance of the room, it feels too large and was very noisy- shame. I just wanted a little fresh air on a warm day but was unable to open the window to sleep with and you couldn't sleep with Ac unit going.

Owner ("Steve the Narrator") was readily available and extremely helpful and pleasant. The room was large, clean and felt/looked new. Hotel itself was quiet and peaceful. Location was outstanding... it's a stone's throw from the sandy beach and yet the same distance from all the shops and cafes and a few car park options. Steve gave me a key which allow coming and going whenever I pleased. Would definitely recommend for solo or family travelling, and I look forward to staying again.

From the initial booking & throughout the stay, everything was as expected & beyond. Steve, greeted us at the door, took our cases up to the room, then told us the story of how Chapter 1 came into being. We only booked an overnight stay, to catch a coach early next morning, so booked room only. We were in ‘The 39 Steps’ no view so expected basic, how wrong could we be? The room was beautifully decorated & extremely comfortable. The library/ breakfast room is delightful, full of artefact’s & the walls look like the most beautiful library. We will definitely be staying again & definitely for longer.

Great welcome, lovely Jo Malone scent throughout. Eclectic style boutique hotel . Super clean , spacious room. Our room was called Great Expectations & we had the book in our room. Cute hotel and right on the sea front & next to shops & restaurants. Super location . would stay again.

The scent throughout was lovely however just a bit too much a night time, could smell it in our room .. its very strong. I love the scent but if you didn't it could put you off . Tone it down a little & all would be perfect ! Air condioner system was good however we were either hot or cold so if staying longer would have checked how to work it lol. Only there 1nt.

The location was prime. Great view of the beach in the “Paris library”, and we spent a lot of time there writing. Steve put a lot of care into making breakfast for the guests. The croissants were the best that I’ve tried. I am not used to waking up early in the morning (the breakfast ends at 9:30) but the breakfast was worth it and got me up and going early in the day.

Our room was a bit too small and next time we visit I’d definitely opt for a bigger room. It can also be quite noisy being close to the street especially on weekend nights.

On arrival we arrived early to check in and we received a very warm friendly welcome from Steve. Steve is the narrator of Chapter 1 Hotel He was genuinely interested in who we were where we had travelled from and what had bought us to Weymouth. Steve was happy to accommodate our early check in showed us to our room and explained everything to us. I chatted about my food allergy with gluten, Steve offered me an extensive list of GF items that he could prepare for me for breakfast. Absolutely amazing 🤩 Our room name (The Italian job) was perfect with nice touches. Chilled water & fresh milk is kept in a fridge to take to the room. Our room was perfectly clean very comfortable bed beautiful bathroom large fluffy towels , toiletries. We look forward to visiting again soon

From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by such a welcoming host and the place smelt amazing like we had come to a spa. Beautiful decor with such attention to detail. Bed was so comfortable and everything was so clean. En-suite was nice and spacious. Great location to the high street and beach. Parked car at the train station so not too far to walk maybe 5 minutes. Breakfast was lovely where we felt it was very personal. Lots of stairs to our room but this was no bother to us it made the hotel feel more unique. Would definitely recommend staying here.
